The Meaning of “He Was Manifested”
The verse begins with the words, “And ye know that he was manifested.” The word “manifested” means that Jesus Christ was revealed or made known openly. According to the Christian faith, Jesus did not come into the world merely as a teacher or prophet. He came with a specific purpose connected with humanity’s sin and reconciliation with God.
The Apostle John reminds believers that the coming of Jesus Christ was not an accidental event. Christ was manifested in the world according to God’s redemptive purpose. His life, teaching, death, and resurrection reveal God’s plan of salvation.
