Detailed Explanation in English

Revelation 22:3 presents a beautiful picture of the final condition of God’s redeemed creation. The verse describes a future reality in which the curse that entered the world through sin will be completely removed. Instead of separation, suffering, corruption, and death, God’s presence will fill the holy city, and His servants will serve Him forever.

“And there shall be no more curse”

The phrase “no more curse” is one of the most hopeful statements in the closing chapters of the Bible. The curse is connected with humanity’s fall into sin and the resulting brokenness of creation. In Genesis, sin brought consequences such as pain, hardship, sorrow, and death. Throughout Scripture, humanity experiences the effects of living in a fallen world.

Revelation 22 points toward the complete removal of those consequences. The new creation is not simply an improved version of the present world. It represents the fulfillment of God’s redemptive purpose. Sin and its destructive effects will no longer have a place there.

This means that the final dwelling place of God’s people will not be characterized by fear, corruption, injustice, sickness, or death. Revelation 21:4 explains that God will wipe away every tear and that death, sorrow, crying, and pain will no longer exist.

The expression “no more curse” therefore communicates restoration. What sin damaged, God ultimately brings to its intended fulfillment.

“But the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it”

The center of this future city is the throne of God and of the Lamb. The throne represents God’s sovereign authority, righteousness, and eternal rule. The Lamb refers to Jesus Christ, who is presented throughout Revelation as the sacrificial Lamb who gave Himself for the redemption of His people.

It is significant that the verse speaks of “the throne of God and of the Lamb.” The presence of both God and the Lamb emphasizes the intimate unity between the Father and Christ in the fulfillment of salvation and the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom.

Earlier in Revelation, the Lamb is central to the heavenly worship and the unfolding of God’s purposes. In the final chapters, His presence is associated with the eternal blessing of God’s people.

The throne also tells us that the future city will be governed by God’s righteousness. Human history has often been marked by imperfect leadership, injustice, corruption, and conflict. But the eternal kingdom described in Revelation is ruled by God Himself.

There is no rival throne competing with God’s authority. There is no rebellion, injustice, or corruption. The presence of the throne means that God’s rule is fully established.

“And his servants shall serve him”

The final part of the verse describes the people of God as His servants. Serving God is not presented as an unpleasant burden. In the presence of God, service becomes an expression of love, worship, gratitude, and fellowship.

Throughout the Bible, serving God is an important calling. Believers are encouraged to worship Him, obey Him, love others, and faithfully use what God has given them. Revelation shows that this service does not end with the completion of earthly life. Instead, God’s people will serve Him in His eternal kingdom.

The words “shall serve him” also indicate purpose. Humanity was created to know, worship, and glorify God. Sin disrupted that relationship, but God’s redemption restores it.

In the new creation, God’s servants will no longer struggle against sin or weakness. Their service will take place in an environment of perfect righteousness and God’s immediate presence.

The message of hope

Revelation 22:3 gives believers a powerful reason for hope. The Bible does not end with humanity trapped forever in a broken world. It ends with God’s victory, restoration, and eternal fellowship with His people.

The verse connects three great realities:

  1. The curse is removed.
  2. God and the Lamb reign from the throne.
  3. God’s servants serve Him forever.

These realities demonstrate that salvation is not merely about escaping judgment. God’s purpose includes restoring His people to His presence and bringing creation into the fullness of His kingdom.

A lesson for believers today

Although Revelation 22:3 describes the future, it also has practical meaning for believers today.

First, it encourages Christians to remain faithful. Present difficulties are not the final chapter. Scripture points toward a future in which God’s purposes will be completely fulfilled.

Second, the verse teaches believers to value God’s presence above earthly possessions. The greatest blessing of the eternal city is not merely its beauty. The greatest blessing is that the throne of God and of the Lamb is there.

Third, the verse reminds believers that serving God has eternal significance. Acts of faithfulness may sometimes appear small or unnoticed in this life, but God’s kingdom is eternal.

Finally, “no more curse” reminds us that sin is not something God intends to preserve forever. God’s ultimate purpose is holiness, restoration, and fellowship with His people.

Revelation 22:3 therefore closes the biblical story with a message of victory. The curse does not have the final word. Sin does not have the final word. Death does not have the final word. God reigns, the Lamb is victorious, and His servants will serve Him in His presence forever.
