Joshua Chapter 11: Final Conquests

Verse 15

Verse: As the LORD commanded Moses his servant so did Moses command Joshua and so did Joshua he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses English Explanation: This verse highlights the chain of obedience. God spoke to Moses, Moses instructed Joshua, and Joshua executed every detail. Success in the Promised Land was directly tied to total adherence to divine instructions. Urdu Explanation: یہ آیت فرمانبرداری کے تسلسل کو ظاہر کرتی ہے۔ خدا نے موسیٰ سے کلام کیا، موسیٰ نے یشوع کو ہدایت دی، اور یشوع نے ہر تفصیل پر عمل کیا۔ وعدہ شدہ زمین میں کامیابی کا براہ راست تعلق الٰہی ہدایات کی مکمل تعمیل سے تھا۔

Verse 16

Verse: So Joshua took all that land the hills and all the south country and all the land of Goshen and the valley and the plain and the mountain of Israel and the valley of the same English Explanation: Joshua’s campaign was comprehensive. He didn’t just take the cities but the entire geography—mountains, valleys, and plains—securing the region for Israel. Urdu Explanation: یشوع کی مہم ہمہ گیر تھی۔ اس نے نہ صرف شہروں پر قبضہ کیا بلکہ پورے جغرافیہ—پہاڑوں، وادیوں اور میدانوں—کو فتح کیا، اور اسرائیل کے لیے خطے کو محفوظ بنا لیا۔

Verse 17

Verse: Even from the mount Halak that goeth up to Seir even unto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon and all their kings he took and smote them and slew them English Explanation: The boundaries of the conquest are defined here, from the southern borders near Edom to the northern reaches near Lebanon. Joshua was decisive in removing the local monarchs. Urdu Explanation: یہاں فتح کی حدود کا تعین کیا گیا ہے، ادوم کے قریب جنوبی سرحدوں سے لے کر لبنان کے قریب شمالی علاقوں تک۔ مقامی بادشاہوں کو ختم کرنے میں یشوع نے فیصلہ کن کردار ادا کیا۔

Verse 18

Verse: Joshua made war a long time with all those kings English Explanation: Victory did not happen overnight. It was a prolonged struggle requiring endurance and continued faith over several years. Urdu Explanation: فتح راتوں رات حاصل نہیں ہوئی۔ یہ ایک طویل جدوجہد تھی جس کے لیے کئی سالوں تک صبر اور مسلسل ایمان کی ضرورت تھی۔

Verse 19

Verse: There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon all other they took in battle English Explanation: Except for the Gibeonites (who used trickery), the Canaanite nations chose resistance over surrender, leading to their total defeat in war. Urdu Explanation: جبعونیوں کے علاوہ (جنہوں نے چالاکی سے کام لیا)، کنعانی قوموں نے ہتھیار ڈالنے کے بجائے مزاحمت کا انتخاب کیا، جس کی وجہ سے انہیں جنگ میں مکمل شکست کا سامنا کرنا پڑا۔

Verse 20

Verse: For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts that they should come against Israel in battle that he might destroy them utterly and that they might have no favour but that he might destroy them as the LORD commanded Moses English Explanation: God allowed the Canaanites to remain stubborn in their wickedness so that His judgment through Israel could be fulfilled without compromise. Urdu Explanation: خدا نے کنعانیوں کو ان کی شرارتوں میں سخت ہونے دیا تاکہ اسرائیل کے ذریعے اس کا فیصلہ بغیر کسی سمجھوتے کے پورا ہو سکے۔

Verse 21

Verse: And at that time came Joshua and cut off the Anakims from the mountains from Hebron from Debir from Anab and from all the mountains of Judah and from all the mountains of Israel Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities English Explanation: The Anakims were giants who had once terrified the Israelite spies. Joshua’s victory over them symbolized that no enemy is too big for God. Urdu Explanation: عناقی وہ دیو قامت لوگ تھے جنہوں نے کبھی اسرائیلی جاسوسوں کو خوفزدہ کر دیا تھا۔ یشوع کی ان پر فتح اس بات کی علامت تھی کہ خدا کے لیے کوئی دشمن بڑا نہیں ہے۔

Verse 22

Verse: There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel only in Gaza in Gath and in Ashdod there remained English Explanation: The giants were cleared from Israel’s territory, though small pockets remained in Philistine cities (from where Goliath would later emerge). Urdu Explanation: دیو قامت لوگوں کا اسرائیل کے علاقے سے صفایا کر دیا گیا، حالانکہ فلسطینی شہروں میں کچھ گروہ باقی رہ گئے (جہاں سے بعد میں جالیات ظاہر ہوا)۔

Verse 23

Verse: So Joshua took the whole land according to all that the LORD said unto Moses and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes And the land rested from war English Explanation: With the major military objectives met, Joshua began the process of tribal land distribution. A season of peace followed the long years of conflict. Urdu Explanation: بڑے فوجی مقاصد حاصل کرنے کے بعد، یشوع نے قبائلی زمین کی تقسیم کا عمل شروع کیا۔ طویل سالوں کے تنازعے کے بعد امن کا دور شروع ہوا۔


Joshua Chapter 12: The List of Defeated Kings

Verse 1

Verse: Now these are the kings of the land which the children of Israel smote and possessed their land on the other side Jordan toward the rising of the sun from the river Arnon unto mount Hermon and all the plain on the east English Explanation: Chapter 12 summarizes the victories. It starts with the land east of the Jordan River, which was conquered while Moses was still leading. Urdu Explanation: باب 12 فتوحات کا خلاصہ پیش کرتا ہے۔ یہ دریائے یردن کے مشرق کی زمین سے شروع ہوتا ہے، جو اس وقت فتح ہوئی تھی جب موسیٰ اب بھی قیادت کر رہے تھے۔

Verse 2-5

Verse: Sihon king of the Amorites who dwelt in Heshbon… And the coast of Og king of Bashan… And reigned in mount Hermon and in Salcah… English Explanation: These verses detail the specific territories of Sihon and Og, the two powerful kings defeated on the east side of the Jordan. Urdu Explanation: یہ آیات سیحون اور عوج کے مخصوص علاقوں کی تفصیل بیان کرتی ہیں، وہ دو طاقتور بادشاہ جو یردن کے مشرقی جانب شکست کھا گئے تھے۔

Verse 6

Verse: Them did Moses the servant of the LORD and the children of Israel smite and Moses the servant of the LORD gave it for a possession unto the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh English Explanation: Moses assigned this eastern land to the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half of Manasseh as their inheritance. Urdu Explanation: موسیٰ نے یہ مشرقی زمین روبن، جاد اور منسی کے آدھے قبیلے کو ان کی میراث کے طور پر دے دی۔

Verse 7-8

Verse: And these are the kings of the country which Joshua and the children of Israel smote on this side Jordan on the west… In the mountains and in the valleys and in the plains… English Explanation: This shifts the focus to the western side of the Jordan (Canaan proper), where Joshua led the campaign across various terrains. Urdu Explanation: یہاں توجہ یردن کے مغربی جانب (اصل کنعان) کی طرف منتقل ہوتی ہے، جہاں یشوع نے مختلف علاقوں میں مہم کی قیادت کی۔

Verse 9-21

Verse: The king of Jericho one the king of Ai which is beside Bethel one… The king of Taanach one the king of Megiddo one English Explanation: These verses provide a rhythmic tally of the 31 kings defeated by Joshua. Listing them one by one emphasizes the magnitude of God’s provision and the thoroughness of the conquest. Urdu Explanation: یہ آیات یشوع کے ہاتھوں شکست کھانے والے 31 بادشاہوں کی فہرست فراہم کرتی ہیں۔ ایک ایک کرکے ان کا ذکر کرنا خدا کی فراہمی کی عظمت اور فتح کی مکمل نوعیت پر زور دیتا ہے۔
