2 Samuel 2:14-16

Verse: And Abner said to Joab Let the young men now arise and play before us. And Joab said Let them arise. Then there arose and went over by number twelve of Benjamin which pertained to Ish-bosheth the son of Saul and twelve of the servants of David. And they caught every one his fellow by the head and thrust his sword in his fellow’s side so they fell down together wherefore that place was called Helkath-hazzurim which is in Gibeon.

  • English Explanation: A “representative combat” was proposed. Twelve men from each side fought, but it ended in a mutual massacre where all twenty-four died instantly.

2 Samuel 2:30-32

Verse: …there lacked of David’s servants nineteen men and Asahel. But the servants of David had smitten of Benjamin… three hundred and threescore men died.

  • English Explanation: The casualty report shows David’s military superiority. He lost only 20 men, while Abner lost 360. Asahel was buried in Bethlehem.

  • Urdu Explanation: داؤد کے صرف بیس آدمی مارے گئے جبکہ ابنیر کے 360 آدمی ہلاک ہوئے۔ عساہیل کو بیت اللحم میں دفن کیا گیا۔
