2 Samuel 7:1
Verse: And it came to pass when the king sat in his house and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies English Explanation: This verse sets the stage of peace. After years of war, David is finally established in his palace, enjoying a rare moment of tranquility granted by God. Urdu Explanation: یہ آیت امن کے دور کی نشاندہی کرتی ہے۔ برسوں کی جنگ کے بعد، داؤد آخر کار اپنے محل میں آباد ہوئے، اور خُداوند نے انہیں ان کے تمام دشمنوں سے نجات دے کر سکون عطا کیا۔
2 Samuel 7:2
Verse: That the king said unto Nathan the prophet See now I dwell in an house of cedar but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains English Explanation: David feels a sense of holy guilt. He lives in a luxurious palace of cedar, while the Ark of the Covenant—the symbol of God’s presence—is kept in a humble tent. Urdu Explanation: داؤد کو ایک مقدس احساسِ ندامت ہوتا ہے۔ وہ دیودار کے پرتعیش محل میں رہتے ہیں، جبکہ خُدا کا عہد کا صندوق ایک عاجزانہ خیمے میں رکھا ہوا ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:3
Verse: And Nathan said to the king Go do all that is in thine heart for the LORD is with thee English Explanation: Nathan the prophet initially encourages David, assuming that because David’s intentions are noble and God is with him, the plan must be God’s will. Urdu Explanation: نعتن نبی نے شروع میں داؤد کی حوصلہ افزائی کی، یہ سمجھتے ہوئے کہ چونکہ داؤد کے ارادے نیک ہیں اور خُدا ان کے ساتھ ہے، اس لیے یہ منصوبہ خُدا کی مرضی ہوگی۔
2 Samuel 7:4
Verse: And it came to pass that night that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan saying English Explanation: God corrects the prophet’s human assumption. He speaks to Nathan that very night to provide specific instructions regarding David’s desire. Urdu Explanation: خُدا نے نبی کے انسانی گمان کی اصلاح کی۔ خُداوند نے اسی رات نعتن سے کلام کیا تاکہ داؤد کی خواہش کے بارے میں مخصوص ہدایات فراہم کرے۔
2 Samuel 7:5
Verse: Go and tell my servant David Thus saith the LORD Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in English Explanation: God asks a rhetorical question. He challenges the idea that He “needs” a physical house built by human hands. Urdu Explanation: خُدا ایک سوال پوچھتا ہے۔ وہ اس خیال کو چیلنج کرتا ہے کہ اسے انسان کے ہاتھوں سے بنے ہوئے جسمانی گھر کی “ضرورت” ہے۔

Verse: Whereas I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the children of Israel out of Egypt even to this day but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle English Explanation: God reminds David that His presence has always been mobile and accessible, traveling with His people in a tent since the Exodus. Urdu Explanation: خُدا داؤد کو یاد دلاتا ہے کہ اس کی موجودگی ہمیشہ متحرک رہی ہے، جو خروج کے وقت سے اپنے لوگوں کے ساتھ ایک خیمے میں سفر کرتی رہی ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:7
Verse: In all the places wherein I have walked with all the children of Israel spake I a word with any of the tribes of Israel whom I commanded to feed my people Israel saying Why build ye not me an house of cedar English Explanation: God clarifies that He never asked any leader or tribe for a permanent temple, emphasizing that His priority was the care of His people. Urdu Explanation: خُدا واضح کرتا ہے کہ اس نے کبھی کسی لیڈر یا قبیلے سے مستقل ہیکل کا مطالبہ نہیں کیا، اس بات پر زور دیتے ہوئے کہ اس کی ترجیح اس کے لوگوں کی دیکھ بھال تھی۔
2 Samuel 7:8
Verse: Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David Thus saith the LORD of hosts I took thee from the sheepcote from following the sheep to be ruler over my people over Israel English Explanation: God reminds David of his humble beginnings. It was God who elevated David from a shepherd to a sovereign king. Urdu Explanation: خُدا داؤد کو اس کے عاجزانہ آغاز کی یاد دلاتا ہے۔ یہ خُدا ہی تھا جس نے داؤد کو چرواہے سے بادشاہ کے عہدے تک پہنچایا۔
2 Samuel 7:9
Verse: And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight and have made thee a great name like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth English Explanation: God confirms His constant support and promises to make David’s name world-renowned, a promise that remains true today. Urdu Explanation: خُدا اپنی مسلسل حمایت کی تصدیق کرتا ہے اور داؤد کے نام کو دنیا بھر میں مشہور کرنے کا وعدہ کرتا ہے، ایک ایسا وعدہ جو آج بھی سچ ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:10
Verse: Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them that they may dwell in a place of their own and move no more neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more as beforetime English Explanation: God shifts the focus from David’s house to a “place” for Israel, promising them security and a permanent home free from oppression. Urdu Explanation: خُدا کی توجہ داؤد کے گھر سے ہٹ کر اسرائیل کے لیے ایک “مقام” پر چلی جاتی ہے، جس میں انہیں سیکورٹی اور ظلم سے پاک ایک مستقل گھر دینے کا وعدہ کیا گیا ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:11
Verse: And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house English Explanation: This is a powerful play on words. David wanted to build God a “house” (temple), but God promises to build David a “house” (a dynasty/lineage). Urdu Explanation: یہ الفاظ کا ایک طاقتور الٹ پھیر ہے۔ داؤد خُدا کے لیے ایک “گھر” (ہیکل) بنانا چاہتا تھا، لیکن خُدا نے داؤد کے لیے ایک “گھر” (ایک شاہی خاندان) بنانے کا وعدہ کیا۔
2 Samuel 7:12
Verse: And when thy days be fulfilled and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers I will set up thy seed after thee which shall proceed out of thy bowels and I will establish his kingdom English Explanation: God promises that David’s lineage will continue after his death, specifically referring to Solomon and eventually the Messiah. Urdu Explanation: خُدا وعدہ کرتا ہے کہ داؤد کی نسل اس کی وفات کے بعد بھی جاری رہے گی، خاص طور پر سلیمان اور آخر کار مسیح کی طرف اشارہ ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:13
Verse: He shall build an house for my name and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever English Explanation: Solomon would build the physical temple, but the “everlasting throne” points toward Jesus Christ, the eternal King from David’s line. Urdu Explanation: سلیمان جسمانی ہیکل تعمیر کرے گا، لیکن “ابدی تخت” یسوع مسیح کی طرف اشارہ کرتا ہے، جو داؤد کی نسل سے ابدی بادشاہ ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:14
Verse: I will be his father and he shall be my son If he commit iniquity I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the children of men English Explanation: God establishes a father-son relationship with the Davidic king. He promises discipline for sins, but not total rejection. Urdu Explanation: خُدا داؤد کے جانشین بادشاہ کے ساتھ باپ بیٹے کا رشتہ قائم کرتا ہے۔ وہ گناہوں کی صورت میں تادیب کا وعدہ کرتا ہے، لیکن مکمل رد کرنے کا نہیں۔
2 Samuel 7:15
Verse: But my mercy shall not depart away from him as I took it from Saul whom I put away before thee English Explanation: Unlike Saul, who lost the kingdom due to disobedience, God’s grace and covenant with David’s line will be unconditional and permanent. Urdu Explanation: ساؤل کے برعکس، جس نے نافرمانی کی وجہ سے بادشاہت کھو دی تھی، داؤد کی نسل کے ساتھ خُدا کا فضل اور عہد غیر مشروط اور مستقل رہے گا۔
2 Samuel 7:16
Verse: And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee thy throne shall be established for ever English Explanation: This is the core of the Davidic Covenant: an eternal kingdom. Christians believe this is fulfilled in the eternal reign of Jesus. Urdu Explanation: یہ داؤد کے عہد کا مرکز ہے: ایک ابدی بادشاہت۔ مسیحیوں کا ماننا ہے کہ یہ یسوع کی ابدی بادشاہت میں پورا ہوا ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:17
Verse: According to all these words and according to all this vision so did Nathan speak unto David English Explanation: Nathan faithfully delivers God’s entire message to David, withholding nothing of the vision he received. Urdu Explanation: نعتن نے وفاداری کے ساتھ خُدا کا پورا پیغام داؤد تک پہنچایا، اور اس رویا کا کوئی حصہ نہیں چھپایا جو اسے ملی تھی۔
2 Samuel 7:18
Verse: Then went king David in and sat before the LORD and he said Who am I O Lord GOD and what is my house that thou hast brought me hitherto English Explanation: David responds with profound humility. He acknowledges his own unworthiness of such immense divine favor. Urdu Explanation: داؤد گہری عاجزی کے ساتھ جواب دیتا ہے۔ وہ اس طرح کے عظیم الہی فضل کے لیے اپنی نااہلی کا اعتراف کرتا ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:19
Verse: And this was yet a small thing in thy sight O Lord GOD but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come And is this the manner of man O Lord GOD English Explanation: David is overwhelmed that God not only blessed his present but also secured his family’s distant future. Urdu Explanation: داؤد مغلوب ہو جاتا ہے کہ خُدا نے نہ صرف اس کے حال کو برکت دی بلکہ اس کے خاندان کے دور کے مستقبل کو بھی محفوظ کر دیا۔
2 Samuel 7:20
Verse: And what can David say more unto thee for thou Lord GOD knowest thy servant English Explanation: David finds himself speechless. He realizes that God knows his heart and intentions perfectly, making further words unnecessary. Urdu Explanation: داؤد خود کو بے زبان پاتا ہے۔ اسے احساس ہوتا ہے کہ خُدا اس کے دل اور ارادوں کو بخوبی جانتا ہے، اس لیے مزید الفاظ کی ضرورت نہیں ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:21
Verse: For thy word’s sake and according to thine own heart hast thou done all these great things to make thy servant know them English Explanation: David credits God’s own character and promises for these blessings, not his own merit. Urdu Explanation: داؤد ان برکات کا سہرا خُدا کی اپنی ذات اور وعدوں کو دیتا ہے، نہ کہ اپنی خوبیوں کو۔
2 Samuel 7:22
Verse: Wherefore thou art great O LORD God for there is none like thee neither is there any God beside thee according to all that we have heard with our ears English Explanation: A declaration of Monotheism. David praises God’s uniqueness and supremacy over all existence. Urdu Explanation: توحید کا اعلان۔ داؤد تمام کائنات پر خُدا کی یگانگت اور بالادستی کی تعریف کرتا ہے۔
2 Samuel 7:23
Verse: And what one nation in the earth is like thy people even like Israel whom God went to redeem for a people to himself and to make him a name and to do for you great things and terrible for thy land before thy people which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt from the nations and their gods English Explanation: David reflects on the unique history of Israel as a nation redeemed by God’s direct intervention and power. Urdu Explanation: داؤد اسرائیل کی ایک ایسی قوم کے طور پر منفرد تاریخ پر غور کرتا ہے جسے خُدا کی براہ راست مداخلت اور قدرت کے ذریعے چھڑایا گیا تھا۔
2 Samuel 7:24
Verse: For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever and thou LORD art become their God English Explanation: The verse concludes with the affirmation of the eternal bond between God and His people, established through His faithfulness. Urdu Explanation: آیت خُدا اور اس کے لوگوں کے درمیان ابدی تعلق کی تصدیق کے ساتھ ختم ہوتی ہے، جو اس کی وفاداری کے ذریعے قائم ہوا ہے۔
