2 Kings Chapter 5

Verse 14

Verse: Then went he down and dipped himself seven times in Jordan according to the saying of the man of God and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child and he was clean.

  • English Explanation: Naaman humbles himself and obeys Elisha’s specific instruction. His obedience results in a total restoration—not just a healing of leprosy, but his skin becoming as soft and healthy as a child’s.

  • Urdu Explanation: نعمان نے عاجزی اختیار کی اور مردِ خدا (الیشع) کے کہے کے مطابق یردن میں سات غوطے لگائے۔ اس کی اطاعت کے نتیجے میں وہ نہ صرف کوڑھ سے پاک ہوا بلکہ اس کا بدن ایک چھوٹے بچے کی طرح نرم اور صاف ہو گیا۔

Verse 15

Verse: And he returned to the man of God he and all his company and came and stood before him and he said Behold now I know that there is no God in all earth but in Israel now therefore I pray thee take a blessing of thy servant.

  • English Explanation: Naaman acknowledges that the God of Israel is the only true God. In gratitude, he offers a gift (blessing) to Elisha as a token of appreciation for his miraculous healing.

  • Urdu Explanation: شفا پانے کے بعد نعمان اپنے پورے قافلے کے ساتھ الیشع کے پاس واپس آیا اور اقرار کیا کہ اسرائیل کے خدا کے سوا زمین پر کوئی اور خدا نہیں۔ اس نے شکرگزاری کے طور پر تحفہ پیش کرنے کی پیشکش کی۔

Verse 16

Verse: But he said As the LORD liveth before whom I stand I will receive none And he urged him to take it but he refused.

  • English Explanation: Elisha refuses the gift to show that God’s grace and miracles cannot be bought. He wants the glory to remain solely with God, despite Naaman’s persistence.

  • Urdu Explanation: الیشع نے تحفہ لینے سے انکار کر دیا تاکہ یہ ظاہر ہو کہ خدا کا فضل اور معجزات خریدے نہیں جا سکتے۔ اس نے زور دینے کے باوجود کچھ بھی قبول نہ کیا تاکہ سارا جلال خدا کو ملے۔

Verse 17

Verse: And Naaman said Shall there not then I pray thee be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt offering nor sacrifice unto other gods but unto the LORD.

  • English Explanation: Naaman asks for Israelite soil to take home, believing he should worship God on the land where He is present. He vows never to sacrifice to idols again.

  • Urdu Explanation: نعمان نے درخواست کی کہ اسے دو خچروں پر لاد کر اسرائیل کی مٹی دی جائے تاکہ وہ اپنی سرزمین پر جا کر صرف خداوند ہی کی عبادت کرے اور بتوں کو قربانی نہ چڑھائے۔

Verse 18

Verse: In this thing the LORD pardon thy servant that when my master goeth into the house of Rimmon to worship there and he leaneth on my hand and I bow myself in the house of Rimmon when I bow down myself in the house of Rimmon the LORD pardon thy servant in this thing.

  • English Explanation: Naaman asks for forgiveness in advance for when his official duties require him to accompany the Syrian king into the temple of the idol Rimmon.

  • Urdu Explanation: نعمان نے معافی مانگی کہ جب اسے اپنے بادشاہ کے ساتھ ‘رمون’ کے مندر میں جانا پڑے اور وہاں جھکنا پڑے، تو خداوند اس کی اس مجبوری کو معاف کرے۔

Verse 19

Verse: And he said unto him Go in peace So he departed from him a little way.

  • English Explanation: Elisha grants him peace, acknowledging Naaman’s new faith and the complexities of his position in Syria.

  • Urdu Explanation: الیشع نے اسے “سلامتی کے ساتھ جا” کہہ کر رخصت کیا، جو اس کے نئے ایمان اور ضمیر کی تسلی کی علامت تھا۔

Verse 20

Verse: But Gehazi the servant of Elisha the man of God said Behold my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian in not receiving at his hands that which he brought but as the LORD liveth I will run after him and take somewhat of him.

  • English Explanation: Gehazi, driven by greed, resents that Elisha let Naaman go without paying. He decides to deceive Naaman to get personal gain.

  • Urdu Explanation: الیشع کا خادم گہزی لالچ میں آگیا۔ اس نے سوچا کہ اس کے آقا نے نعمان کو مفت چھوڑ دیا ہے، اس لیے اس نے خود اس کے پیچھے جا کر کچھ حاصل کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔

Verse 21

Verse: So Gehazi followed after Naaman And when Naaman saw him running after him he lighted down from the chariot to meet him and said Is all well.

  • English Explanation: Naaman shows great respect to Elisha’s servant by getting down from his chariot to meet him, asking if something is wrong.

  • Urdu Explanation: گہزی نعمان کے پیچھے بھاگا۔ نعمان نے اسے آتے دیکھ کر احتراماً اپنے رتھ سے اتر کر اس کا استقبال کیا اور خیریت دریافت کی۔

Verse 22

Verse: And he said All is well My master hath sent me saying Behold even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets give them I pray thee a talent of silver and two changes of garments.

  • English Explanation: Gehazi invents a lie about two visiting prophets needing help to trick Naaman into giving him money and clothes.

  • Urdu Explanation: گہزی نے جھوٹ بولا کہ الیشع نے اسے بھیجا ہے کیونکہ دو ضرورت مند انبیاء کے شاگرد آئے ہیں، جن کے لیے چاندی اور لباس درکار ہے۔

Verse 23

Verse: And Naaman said Be content take two talents And he urged him and bound two talents of silver in two bags with two changes of garments and laid them upon two of his servants and they bare them before him.

  • English Explanation: Naaman is generous and gives double what was asked. He even sends his own servants to help Gehazi carry the heavy silver.

  • Urdu Explanation: نعمان نے فراخدلی کا مظاہرہ کرتے ہوئے دگنی چاندی دی اور اپنے خادموں کو بھیجا تاکہ وہ یہ سامان گہزی کے لیے اٹھا کر لے جائیں۔

Verse 24

Verse: And when he came to the tower he took them from their hand and bestowed them in the house and he let the men go and they departed.

  • English Explanation: Gehazi hides the stolen goods in a secret place before the servants reach Elisha’s house, trying to cover his tracks.

  • Urdu Explanation: جب وہ ایک محفوظ جگہ (برج) پر پہنچے تو گہزی نے سامان لے کر گھر میں چھپا دیا اور نعمان کے خادموں کو واپس بھیج دیا۔

Verse 25

Verse: But he went in and stood before his master And Elisha said unto him Whence comest thou Gehazi And he said Thy servant went no whither.

  • English Explanation: When confronted by Elisha, Gehazi tells a blatant lie, claiming he hadn’t gone anywhere.

  • Urdu Explanation: جب گہزی اپنے آقا الیشع کے سامنے کھڑا ہوا تو الیشع کے پوچھنے پر اس نے جھوٹ بولا کہ وہ کہیں نہیں گیا تھا۔

Verse 26

Verse: And he said unto him Went not mine heart with thee when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee Is it a time to receive money and to receive garments and oliveyards and vineyards and sheep and oxen and menservants and maidservants.

  • English Explanation: Elisha reveals that God showed him everything in a vision. He rebukes Gehazi for seeking worldly wealth during a time meant for spiritual testimony.

  • Urdu Explanation: الیشع نے انکشاف کیا کہ وہ اپنی روح میں دیکھ رہا تھا کہ وہاں کیا ہوا۔ اس نے گہزی کو ملامت کی کہ یہ وقت مال و دولت جمع کرنے کا نہیں تھا۔

Verse 27

Verse: The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee and unto thy seed for ever And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

  • English Explanation: Because of his greed and deceit, Naaman’s leprosy is transferred to Gehazi and his descendants. He leaves Elisha’s presence afflicted with the disease.

  • Urdu Explanation: گہزی کے لالچ اور جھوٹ کی سزا کے طور پر نعمان کا کوڑھ اسے اور اس کی نسل کو لگ گیا۔ وہ وہاں سے کوڑھی ہو کر نکلا۔

2 Kings Chapter 6

Verse 1

Verse: And the sons of the prophets said unto Elisha Behold now the place where we dwell with thee is too strait for us.

  • English Explanation: The community of prophets had grown so much under Elisha’s leadership that their current living quarters became too small.

  • Urdu Explanation: انبیاء کے شاگردوں نے الیشع سے کہا کہ جس جگہ ہم آپ کے ساتھ رہتے ہیں وہ ہمارے لیے بہت تنگ ہو گئی ہے۔

Verse 2

Verse: Let us go we pray thee unto Jordan and take thence every man a beam and let us make us a place there where we may dwell And he answered Go ye.

  • English Explanation: They propose building a new place near the Jordan River where timber was available. Elisha gives them permission to proceed.

  • Urdu Explanation: انہوں نے تجویز دی کہ وہ دریائے یردن کے پاس جا کر لکڑیاں کاٹیں اور اپنے رہنے کے لیے جگہ بنائیں، جس کی الیشع نے اجازت دے دی۔

Verse 3

Verse: And one said Be content I pray thee and go with thy servants And he answered I will go.

  • English Explanation: One of the students requests Elisha to accompany them for guidance and blessing. Elisha agrees.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایک شاگرد نے درخواست کی کہ الیشع بھی ان کے ساتھ چلے، اور وہ راضی ہو گیا۔

Verse 4

Verse: So he went with them And when they came to Jordan they cut down wood.

  • English Explanation: Elisha goes with the group to the Jordan, and they begin the hard work of felling trees for construction.

  • Urdu Explanation: الیشع ان کے ساتھ گیا اور یردن پہنچ کر انہوں نے لکڑیاں کاٹنا شروع کر دیں۔

Verse 5

Verse: But as one was felling a beam the axe head fell into the water and he cried and said Alas master for it was borrowed.

  • English Explanation: A heavy iron axe head slips off the handle into the deep water. The man is distressed because the tool was borrowed and he cannot replace it.

  • Urdu Explanation: لکڑی کاٹتے وقت ایک شاگرد کی کلہاڑی کا پھل پانی میں گر گیا۔ وہ پریشان ہو گیا کیونکہ وہ کلہاڑی مانگی ہوئی (ادھار) تھی۔

Verse 6

Verse: And the man of God said Where fell it And he shewed him the place And he cut down a stick and cast it in thither and the iron did swim.

  • English Explanation: Elisha performs a miracle by throwing a stick into the water, causing the heavy iron axe head to defy gravity and float to the surface.

  • Urdu Explanation: الیشع نے پوچھا کہ وہ کہاں گری ہے۔ پھر اس نے ایک لکڑی کاٹ کر وہاں ڈالی جس سے لوہا تیرنے لگا۔ یہ خدا کی قدرت کا ایک عظیم معجزہ تھا۔
