2 Kings 10:15

Verse: And when he was departed thence he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him and he saluted him and said to him Is thine heart right as my heart is with thy heart? And Jehonadab answered It is. If it be give me thine hand. And he gave him his hand and he took him up to him into the chariot.

  • English Explanation: Jehu seeks an ally in Jehonadab, a man known for strict religious devotion. This alliance symbolizes the joining of military power with moral/religious authority to legitimize Jehu’s mission.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہاں جیہو کی ملاقات یہوناداب سے ہوتی ہے جو ایک پرہیزگار شخص تھا۔ جیہو اس سے ہاتھ ملا کر اپنی مہم میں شامل کرتا ہے تاکہ اسے عوامی اور مذہبی تائید حاصل ہو سکے۔

2 Kings 10:16

Verse: And he said Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD. So they made him ride in his chariot.

  • English Explanation: Jehu invites Jehonadab to witness his “zeal.” While Jehu was executing God’s judgment, this verse hints at a level of self-promotion or pride in his own actions.

  • Urdu Explanation: جیہو فخر سے کہتا ہے کہ آؤ اور خداوند کے لیے میرا جوش دیکھو۔ وہ یہوناداب کو اپنے رتھ میں بٹھا کر اپنی طاقت کا مظاہرہ کرتا ہے۔

Verse: And when he came to Samaria he slew all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria till he had destroyed him according to the saying of the LORD which he spake to Elijah.

  • English Explanation: Upon reaching the capital, Jehu eliminates Ahab’s remaining family, fulfilling the prophecy given to Elijah regarding the total end of Ahab’s bloody dynasty.

  • Urdu Explanation: سامریہ پہنچ کر جیہو نے اخیاب کے خاندان کے تمام بچنے والوں کو ختم کر دیا، بالکل ویسے ہی جیسے خدا نے ایلیاہ نبی کے ذریعے پیشگوئی کی تھی۔

Verse: And Jehu gathered all the people together and said unto them Ahab served Baal a little but Jehu shall serve him much.

  • English Explanation: Jehu uses deception (subtlety) to gather the idolaters. He pretends to be an even greater worshipper of Baal than Ahab was to lure them into a trap.

  • Urdu Explanation: جیہو نے چالاکی سے کام لیا اور لوگوں سے کہا کہ اخیاب نے تو بعل کی تھوڑی پوجا کی تھی، میں اس سے زیادہ کروں گا، تاکہ بعل کے پجاریوں کو اکٹھا کر سکے۔

Verse: (Summary) Jehu calls for a great sacrifice to Baal… all the worshippers of Baal came… the house of Baal was full from one end to another.

  • English Explanation: Jehu organizes a massive “religious festival.” His strategy ensures that every single Baal worshipper in Israel is localized in one building for mass execution.

  • Urdu Explanation: جیہو نے پورے اسرائیل میں اعلان کروا دیا کہ بعل کے لیے بڑی قربانی دی جائے گی۔ بعل کا مندر پجاریوں سے کھچا کھچ بھر گیا۔

2 Kings 10:22-23

Verse: (Summary) Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers… Search and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD…

  • English Explanation: To prevent “collateral damage,” Jehu ensures that only Baal worshippers are wearing the specific cultic vestments and that no follower of Yahweh is accidentally inside.

  • Urdu Explanation: جیہو نے حکم دیا کہ پجاریوں کو مخصوص لباس پہنایا جائے تاکہ ان کی شناخت ہو سکے اور اس بات کی تصدیق کی کہ وہاں صرف بعل کے پیروکار ہوں، خدا کا کوئی خادم نہیں۔

2 Kings 10:24-25

Verse: (Summary) Jehu appointed fourscore men without… Go in and slay them let none come forth…

  • English Explanation: Once the pagan sacrifice ended, Jehu’s soldiers entered and executed everyone inside. This was a brutal but total purge of the Phoenician idolatry introduced by Jezebel.

  • Urdu Explanation: جیہو کے سپاہیوں نے اندر داخل ہو کر تمام بت پرستوں کو تلوار سے قتل کر دیا۔ یہ اسرائیل سے بعل کی پوجا ختم کرنے کا ایک خونی انجام تھا۔

2 Kings 10:26-28

Verse: (Summary) They brought forth the images… and burned them… brake down the house of Baal… Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.

  • English Explanation: The physical temple and idols were destroyed. The site was turned into a latrine (draught house) to permanently desecrate it. Jehu successfully ended Baal worship.

  • Urdu Explanation: انہوں نے بعل کے بتوں کو جلا دیا اور مندر کو مسمار کر کے اسے کوڑا خانہ بنا دیا۔ اس طرح اسرائیل سے بعل کی پوجا مٹ گئی۔

2 Kings 10:29-31

Verse: (Summary) Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam… Jehu departed not… the golden calves… But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD…

  • English Explanation: Here is the tragic “but.” While Jehu destroyed Baal (a foreign god), he continued the “state religion” of the golden calves at Bethel and Dan. His heart was not fully committed to the Law.

  • Urdu Explanation: لیکن ایک افسوسناک بات یہ تھی کہ جیہو نے یربعام کے گناہوں یعنی سونے کے بچھڑوں کی پوجا کو نہیں چھوڑا۔ اس نے خدا کے قانون پر پورے دل سے عمل نہیں کیا۔

2 Kings 10:32-34

Verse: (Summary) In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short… Hazael smote them… Now the rest of the acts of Jehu… are they not written…

  • English Explanation: Because of continued idolatry, God allowed King Hazael of Syria to seize Israelite territory. Jehu’s reign ends with a diminished kingdom, highlighting that military zeal without spiritual purity is insufficient.

  • Urdu Explanation: ان دنوں میں اسرائیل کی سرحدیں سکڑنے لگیں کیونکہ حزائیل نے ان پر حملے کیے۔ جیہو کے باقی کام تاریخ کی کتابوں میں درج ہیں۔
