
2 Samuel Chapter 24
Verse 18
Verse: And Gad came that day to David and said unto him Go up rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite English Explanation: The prophet Gad delivers a divine command to David to build an altar. This site (the threshing floor) was significant as it was where the plague against Israel was halted, symbolizing a place of mercy. Urdu Explanation: نبی جاد نے داؤد کو حکم دیا کہ وہ ارونا یبوسی کے کھلیان میں خداوند کے لیے ایک مذبح بنائیں۔ یہ وہ مقام تھا جہاں بنی اسرائیل پر سے وبا تھم گئی تھی اور یہ جگہ خدا کے رحم کی علامت بنی۔
Verse 19
Verse: And David according to the saying of Gad went up as the LORD commanded English Explanation: David demonstrates immediate obedience to God’s word. He did not hesitate to follow the instructions given through the prophet Gad. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے جاد نبی کے کہے کے مطابق فوراً عمل کیا اور ویسا ہی کیا جیسا خداوند نے اسے حکم دیا تھا۔ یہ داؤد کی خدا کے تئیں وفاداری کو ظاہر کرتا ہے۔
Verse 20
Verse: And Araunah looked and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him and Araunah went out and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground English Explanation: Araunah, a resident of the land, shows great respect and humility before King David, recognizing his royal authority through a deep bow. Urdu Explanation: جب ارونا نے بادشاہ اور اس کے ملازموں کو اپنی طرف آتے دیکھا تو وہ باہر نکلا اور بادشاہ کے سامنے زمین تک جھک کر سجدہ کیا اور اپنی عاجزی کا اظہار کیا۔
Verse 21
Verse: And Araunah said Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant And David said To buy the threshingfloor of thee to build an altar unto the LORD that the plague may be stayed from the people English Explanation: David explains his mission: he needs to purchase the land to offer sacrifices so that the deadly plague affecting the nation would end. Urdu Explanation: ارونا نے آنے کی وجہ پوچھی تو داؤد نے جواب دیا کہ وہ یہ کھلیان خریدنا چاہتا ہے تاکہ یہاں خداوند کے لیے قربان گاہ بنا سکے اور لوگوں پر سے یہ وبا ختم ہو جائے۔
Verse 22
Verse: And Araunah said unto David Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him behold here be oxen for burnt sacrifice and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood English Explanation: In a gesture of extreme generosity, Araunah offers the land, the animals, and even the wooden equipment for free to the king for the sacrifice. Urdu Explanation: ارونا نے شاہانہ سخاوت دکھاتے ہوئے داؤد سے کہا کہ بادشاہ جو چاہے لے لے یہاں قربانی کے لیے بیل اور لکڑی کے لیے کھیتی باڑی کے اوزار بھی موجود ہیں۔
Verse 23
Verse: All these things did Araunah as a king give unto the king And Araunah said unto the king The LORD thy God accept thee English Explanation: Araunah gives everything freely and prays for God’s acceptance of David’s sacrifice, showing a spirit of unity and devotion. Urdu Explanation: ارونا نے یہ سب کچھ ایک بادشاہ کی طرح داؤد کو پیش کر دیا اور دعا دی کہ خداوند تیرا خدا تجھے قبول کرے۔
Verse 24
Verse: And the king said unto Araunah Nay but I will surely buy it of thee at a price neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver English Explanation: David refuses to offer God something that cost him nothing. He insists on paying, establishing the principle that true sacrifice involves personal cost. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے مفت لینے سے انکار کر دیا اور کہا کہ میں ایسی چیز خدا کو پیش نہیں کروں گا جس کی مجھے کوئی قیمت نہ چکانی پڑے۔ چنانچہ اس نے چاندی کے پچاس مثقال دے کر وہ جگہ خریدی۔
Verse 25
Verse: And David built there an altar unto the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings So the LORD was intreated for the land and the plague was stayed from Israel English Explanation: After the sacrifice was made, God answered the prayers for the land, and the plague was officially halted across Israel. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے وہاں مذبح بنایا اور قربانیاں چڑھائیں۔ خداوند نے ملک کی دعا سنی اور اسرائیل سے وبا دور ہو گئی۔
1 Kings Chapter 1
Verse 1
Verse: Now king David was old and stricken in years and they covered him with clothes but he gat no heat English Explanation: This verse marks the end of David’s era. He is physically frail and unable to maintain body heat, signaling the need for a successor. Urdu Explanation: اب بادشاہ داؤد بوڑھا اور ضعیف ہو گیا تھا۔ اسے کپڑوں سے ڈھانپا جاتا لیکن اس کے جسم میں گرمی پیدا نہ ہوتی تھی۔
Verse 2
Verse: Wherefore his servants said unto him Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin and let her stand before the king and let her cherish him and let her lie in thy bosom that my lord the king may get heat English Explanation: Servants suggested finding a young woman to care for the king and provide physical warmth through her presence. Urdu Explanation: خادموں نے مشورہ دیا کہ بادشاہ کے لیے ایک کنواری لڑکی تلاش کی جائے جو ان کی دیکھ بھال کرے اور ان کے ساتھ لیٹے تاکہ بادشاہ کو حرارت مل سکے۔
Verse 3
Verse: So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel and found Abishag a Shunammite and brought her to the king English Explanation: After a nationwide search, they found Abishag, a beautiful woman from Shunem, to serve the aging king. Urdu Explanation: انہوں نے پورے اسرائیل میں ایک خوبصورت لڑکی کی تلاش کی اور ابیشگ شونیمی کو پا کر بادشاہ کے پاس لے آئے۔
Verse 4
Verse: And the damsel was very fair and cherished the king and ministered to him but the king knew her not English Explanation: Abishag served and cared for David faithfully, but the text clarifies that there was no marital intimacy between them. Urdu Explanation: وہ لڑکی بہت خوبصورت تھی اور اس نے بادشاہ کی بہت خدمت کی لیکن بادشاہ اس سے واقف نہ ہوا یعنی ان کے درمیان ازدواجی تعلق نہ تھا۔
Verse 5
Verse: Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself saying I will be king and he prepared him chariots and horsemen and fifty men to run before him English Explanation: Seeing David’s weakness, his son Adonijah attempts to seize the throne by displaying royal pomp and claiming kingship for himself. Urdu Explanation: ادونیاہ بن حجیت نے خود سری کی اور کہا کہ “میں بادشاہ بنوں گا”۔ اس نے اپنے لیے رتھ سوار اور پچاس آدمی تیار کیے جو اس کے آگے دوڑتے تھے۔
Verse 6
Verse: And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying Why hast thou done so and he also was a very goodly man and his mother bare him after Absalom English Explanation: Adonijah was a handsome man who had been spoiled by David, as the king never disciplined or questioned his behavior. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے اسے کبھی نہیں ٹوکا تھا کہ “تو ایسا کیوں کرتا ہے؟” وہ بہت وجیہہ تھا اور ابی سلوم کے بعد پیدا ہوا تھا۔
Verse 7
Verse: And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest and they following Adonijah helped him English Explanation: Adonijah gathered powerful allies, including Joab (the military commander) and Abiathar (the priest), to support his claim. Urdu Explanation: اس نے یوآب اور ابی یتار کاہن سے مشورہ کیا اور انہوں نے ادونیاہ کا ساتھ دیا اور اس کی مدد کی۔
Verse 8
Verse: But Zadok the priest and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and Nathan the prophet and Shimei and Rei and the mighty men which belonged to David were not with Adonijah English Explanation: Not everyone supported the rebellion. Key figures like Nathan the prophet and Zadok the priest remained loyal to David’s chosen successor. Urdu Explanation: لیکن صدوق کاہن بنایاہ ناتھن نبی اور داؤد کے دیگر بہادر سورما ادونیاہ کے ساتھ شامل نہ ہوئے۔
Verse 9
Verse: And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth which is by En-rogel and called all his brethren the king’s sons and all the men of Judah the king’s servants English Explanation: Adonijah held a great sacrificial feast to celebrate his self-coronation, inviting his brothers and the officials of Judah. Urdu Explanation: ادونیاہ نے این روجل کے پاس زوہیلت کے پتھر کے نزدیک بھیڑیں اور بیل ذبح کر کے ایک بڑی دعوت دی اور اپنے بھائیوں اور یہوداہ کے خادموں کو بلایا۔
Verse 10
Verse: But Nathan the prophet and Benaiah and the mighty men and Solomon his brother he called not English Explanation: Significantly, Adonijah excluded Solomon (the rightful heir) and David’s most loyal advisors from the celebration. Urdu Explanation: لیکن اس نے ناتھن نبی بنایاہ اور اپنے بھائی سلیمان کو اس دعوت میں نہیں بلایا۔
Verse 11
Verse: Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon saying Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign and David our lord knoweth it not English Explanation: Nathan the prophet takes action by informing Bathsheba of the coup, as David was unaware of Adonijah’s actions. Urdu Explanation: تب ناتھن نے سلیمان کی ماں بت سبع سے کہا “کیا تو نے نہیں سنا کہ ادونیاہ بادشاہ بن بیٹھا ہے اور داؤد کو اس کی خبر تک نہیں؟”
Verse 12
Verse: Now therefore come let me I pray thee give thee counsel that thou mayest save thine own life and the life of thy son Solomon English Explanation: Nathan offers a plan to Bathsheba to intervene, warning her that her life and Solomon’s life are in danger if Adonijah stays in power. Urdu Explanation: ناتھن نے مشورہ دیا کہ “اب آ میں تجھے ایک تدبیر بتاتا ہوں تاکہ تو اپنی اور اپنے بیٹے سلیمان کی جان بچا سکے”۔
