English Explanation of Genesis 9:7

Genesis 9:7 comes after the flood during the time of Noah. According to the biblical account, the earth had experienced a great destruction, and only Noah, his family, and the animals preserved in the ark survived. After this event, God gave Noah and his family instructions for a new beginning.

The command “be ye fruitful, and multiply” carries a deep meaning. The word “fruitful” refers to producing, growing, and bringing positive results. In its immediate context, it refers to human reproduction and the continuation of life. Humanity was instructed to increase and fill the earth once again after the devastation of the flood.

However, the meaning goes beyond having children. The idea of being fruitful also represents living a productive and purposeful life. A person’s actions, character, and contributions can produce good results. Just as a healthy tree produces fruit, human beings are encouraged to produce goodness, wisdom, kindness, and positive influence.

The phrase “bring forth abundantly in the earth” emphasizes abundance and responsibility. Humanity was not simply told to exist but to actively participate in the development of the world. People were given the ability to create communities, cultivate the land, develop knowledge, and establish systems that support life.

The command to “multiply therein” shows that human beings have a role in spreading across the earth. This does not only describe physical growth but also the expansion of human effort, creativity, and civilization.

This verse also teaches that life is valuable. After the flood, God renewed the relationship between humanity and creation. The instruction to multiply shows hope, restoration, and a future for mankind. Even after hardship and destruction, there was an opportunity for renewal and growth.

یہ آیت طوفانِ نوح کے واقعے کے بعد بیان کی گئی ہے۔ جب زمین پر ایک بڑی تباہی آئی، تو نوح اور ان کا خاندان محفوظ رہے۔ اس کے بعد خدا نے انسانیت کو ایک نئی شروعات عطا کی اور انہیں زندگی کو آگے بڑھانے کی ہدایت دی۔

لیکن اس حکم میں ایک روحانی سبق بھی موجود ہے۔ انسان کی زندگی کا مقصد صرف موجود ہونا نہیں بلکہ فائدہ مند زندگی گزارنا ہے۔ ایک انسان اپنے علم، محنت، اخلاق اور خدمت کے ذریعے دوسروں کے لیے فائدہ مند بن سکتا ہے۔

“زمین پر کثرت سے پیداوار لاؤ” کا مطلب یہ بھی ہے کہ انسان زمین اور اس کے وسائل کو ذمہ داری کے ساتھ استعمال کرے۔ خدا نے انسان کو صلاحیتیں عطا کیں تاکہ وہ دنیا کو بہتر بنائے، معاشرے قائم کرے اور ترقی کے راستے اختیار کرے۔

یہ آیت امید اور بحالی کا پیغام بھی دیتی ہے۔ طوفان کے بعد ایک نئی دنیا کا آغاز ہوا۔ اس سے یہ سبق ملتا ہے کہ مشکل حالات کے بعد بھی زندگی میں بہتری اور ترقی کے مواقع موجود ہوتے ہیں۔
