Proverbs 1:13

Verse: We shall find all precious substance we shall fill our houses with spoil

They lure others by promising quick wealth, material abundance, and a life filled with luxury gained from stealing. It warns readers against the illusion of easy money obtained through dishonest or violent means.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ آیت گنہگاروں اور ظالموں کے جھوٹے وعدوں کو ظاہر کرتی ہے۔ وہ دوسروں کو جلدی امیر ہونے اور چوری کے مال سے اپنے گھر بھرنے کا لالچ دیتے ہیں۔ یہ آیت ہمیں بے ایمانی اور ناجائز طریقے سے حاصل کی جانے والی دولت کے فریب سے بچنے کی تاکید کرتی ہے۔

Proverbs 1:14

Verse: Cast in thy lot among us let us all have one purse

  • English Explanation: Here, the wicked invite others to join their criminal brotherhood, promising equal shares (“one purse”) of their illegal gains. This represents peer pressure and the temptation to belong to a group, even if that group is walking a path of destruction.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہاں بدکار لوگ دوسروں کو اپنے ساتھ شامل ہونے کی دعوت دیتے ہیں اور وعدہ کرتے ہیں کہ لوٹ مار کی رقم سب میں برابر بانٹی جائے گی۔ یہ آیت غلط سوسائٹی کے دباؤ اور گناہ کے کاموں میں شراکت داری کے لالچ کو بے نقاب کرتی ہے۔

Proverbs 1:15

Verse: My son walk not thou in the way with them refrain thy foot from their path

  • English Explanation: A loving father gives a direct command to his son to completely avoid the company of evil people. The verse emphasizes that one must not even take the first step on their path, as keeping a safe distance is the best defense against temptation.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایک محبت کرنے والا باپ اپنے بیٹے کو سخت نصیحت کرتا ہے کہ وہ برے لوگوں کی صحبت سے دور رہے۔ آیت واضح کرتی ہے کہ ان کے راستے پر پہلا قدم بھی نہیں رکھنا چاہیے، کیونکہ برائی سے دور رہنا ہی اس سے بچنے کا بہترین طریقہ ہے۔

Proverbs 1:16

Verse: For their feet run to evil and make haste to shed blood

  • English Explanation: This verse describes the rapid and eager nature of wicked people toward sin. They do not hesitate to cause harm or destroy lives; their desire for destruction and violence is urgent and uncontrolled.

  • Urdu Explanation: اس آیت میں گنہگاروں کی اس جلد بازی کا ذکر ہے جو وہ گناہ کی طرف کرتے ہیں۔ وہ دوسروں کو نقصان پہنچانے یا خون بہانے میں ذرا بھی نہیں ہچکچاتے، اور ان کا رویہ انتہائی ظالمانہ اور بے لگام ہوتا ہے۔

Proverbs 1:17

Verse: Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird

  • English Explanation: A bird is smart enough to fly away if it sees a trap being laid out openly. This metaphor implies that humans should be smarter than birds; when the traps of sin and its consequences are obvious, we must have the wisdom to avoid them.

  • Urdu Explanation: اگر پرندہ اپنے سامنے جال بچھتا ہوا دیکھ لے تو وہ وہاں نہیں جاتا۔ اس تمثیل کا مقصد یہ ہے کہ انسانوں کو پرندوں سے زیادہ عقلمند ہونا چاہیے، اور جب گناہ کا انجام اور جال سامنے نظر آ رہا ہو تو اس سے بچنا چاہیے۔

Proverbs 1:18

Verse: And they lay wait for their own blood they lurk privily for their own lives

  • English Explanation: While wicked people think they are setting traps for others, they are actually setting a trap for themselves. Their violent actions ultimately bring down divine judgment and ruin upon their own heads.

  • Urdu Explanation: گنہگار لوگ سمجھتے ہیں کہ وہ دوسروں کے لیے گڑھا کھود رہے ہیں، لیکن درحقیقت وہ اپنی ہی جان کے دشمن بن رہے ہوتے ہیں۔ ان کے پرتشدد کام آخر کار خود ان کی تباہی اور بربادی کا سبب بنتے ہیں۔

Proverbs 1:19

Verse: So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain which taketh away the life of the owners thereof

  • English Explanation: This concludes the warning against greed. Unlawful gain and extreme greed destroy the soul of the person who possesses it. True success cannot be built on the exploitation or destruction of others.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ آیت لالچ کے انجام کو واضح کرتی ہے۔ ناجائز منافع اور شدید لالچ انسان کی اپنی ہی روح کو برباد کر دیتا ہے۔ دوسروں کا حق مار کر یا انہیں نقصان پہنچا کر کبھی سچی کامیابی حاصل نہیں کی جا سکتی۔

Proverbs 1:20

Verse: Wisdom crieth without she uttereth her voice in the streets

  • English Explanation: Wisdom is personified as a woman calling out publicly. It shows that God’s wisdom is not a hidden secret; it is readily available and accessible to everyone in everyday life if they are willing to listen.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہاں حکمت کو ایک عورت کی شکل میں پیش کیا گیا ہے جو کھلے عام پکار رہی ہے۔ یہ ظاہر کرتا ہے کہ خدا کی حکمت کوئی چھپی ہوئی چیز نہیں ہے، بلکہ یہ عام زندگی میں ہر انسان کے لیے دستیاب ہے بشرطیکہ وہ سننے کے لیے تیار ہو۔

Proverbs 1:21

Verse: She crieth in the chief place of concourse in the openings of the gates in the city she uttereth her words saying

  • Explanation: Wisdom positions herself where the crowds are largest—at the city gates and marketplaces. This signifies that God offers guidance in the places of public business, legal matters, and daily decisions.

  • Urdu Explanation: حکمت وہاں جا کر پکارتی ہے جہاں سب سے زیادہ ہجوم ہوتا ہے، جیسے شہر کے دروازے اور بازار۔ اس کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ خدا ہمیں روزمرہ کے معاملات، کاروبار اور فیصلوں میں رہنمائی فراہم کرتا ہے۔

Proverbs 1:22

Verse: How long ye simple ones will ye love simplicity and the scorners delight in their scorning and fools hate knowledge

  • English Explanation: Wisdom addresses three types of people: the simple (naive), the scorners (mockers), and fools. She questions how long they will choose ignorance, arrogance, and rebellion over life-giving truth.

  • Urdu Explanation: حکمت تین قسم کے لوگوں سے مخاطب ہے: سادہ لوح (نادان)، ٹھٹھا کرنے والے (مذاق اڑانے والے)، اور احمق۔ وہ پوچھتی ہے کہ تم کب تک جہالت، غرور اور سرکشی کو زندگی بخشنے والے سچ پر ترجیح دیتے رہو گے؟

Proverbs 1:23

Verse: Turn you at my reproof behold I will pour out my spirit unto you I will make known my words unto you

  • English Explanation: Wisdom offers an invitation to repentance. If people listen to her correction, she promises a beautiful reward: the outpouring of her spirit and a deep, clear understanding of her words.

  • Urdu Explanation: حکمت توبہ اور اصلاح کی دعوت دیتی ہے۔ اگر لوگ اس کی تنبیہ کو قبول کریں، تو وہ اپنے ممسوح دل اور روح کو ان پر انڈیلنے اور اپنے کلام کی گہری سمجھ عطا کرنے کا وعدہ کرتی ہے۔

Proverbs 1:24

Verse: Because I have called and ye refused I have stretched out my hand and no man regarded

  • English Explanation: This verse shifts to a tone of judgment. God through wisdom has consistently reached out to humanity, but people have stubborn hearts, choosing to ignore His extended hand of mercy.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہاں سے کلام کا رخ عدالت کی طرف مڑتا ہے۔ خدا حکمت کے ذریعے مسلسل انسان کو پکارتا رہا ہے، لیکن انسانوں نے اپنے دلوں کو سخت کر لیا اور اس کے رحم کے پھیلے ہوئے ہاتھ کو نظر انداز کر دیا۔

Proverbs 1:25

Verse: But ye have set at nought all my counsel and would none of my reproof

  • English Explanation: Sinners treat divine advice as worthless and reject any form of correction. This prideful attitude cuts them off from the protective guidance of God.

  • Urdu Explanation: گنہگار لوگ خدائی مشورے کو ردی برابر سمجھتے ہیں اور کسی بھی قسم کی اصلاح کو مسترد کر دیتے ہیں۔ ان کا یہ مغرور رویہ انہیں خدا کی حفاظتی رہنمائی سے دور کر دیتا ہے۔

Proverbs 1:26

Verse: I also will laugh at your calamity I will mock when your fear cometh

  • English Explanation: When people systematically reject wisdom, a time comes when calamity strikes. At that moment, wisdom will not rescue them; their sudden panic will show the foolishness of their self-reliance.

  • Urdu Explanation: جب لوگ مسلسل حکمت کو مسترد کرتے ہیں، تو ایک وقت آتا ہے جب ان پر مصیبت ٹوٹ پڑتی ہے۔ اس وقت حکمت ان کی مدد نہیں کرے گی، اور ان کا خوف ظاہر کرے گا کہ ان کا خود پر بھروسہ کرنا کتنا بڑا اندھیرا تھا۔

Proverbs 1:27

Verse: When your fear cometh as desolation and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind when distress and anguish cometh upon you

  • English Explanation: The consequences of ignoring wisdom are described here as a sudden, violent storm or whirlwind. Desolation, distress, and painful anguish are the inevitable fruits of living a life independent of God’s laws.

  • Urdu Explanation: حکمت کو نظرانداز کرنے کے نتائج کو ایک اچانک اور شدید طوفان یا بگولے سے تشبیہ دی گئی ہے۔ خدا کے قوانین سے دور زندگی گزارنے کا ناگزیر انجام تباہی، پریشانی اور شدید ذہنی و روحی تکلیف ہے۔

Proverbs 1:28

Verse: Then shall they call upon me but I will not answer they shall seek me early but they shall not find me

  • English Explanation: There is a point of no return. Seeking God only out of panic rather than genuine repentance yields no response. Opportunities for mercy must be taken when they are offered, not just during self-inflicted crises.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایک ایسا وقت آتا ہے جہاں سے واپسی ممکن نہیں ہوتی۔ سچی توبہ کے بغیر صرف خوف کی وجہ سے خدا کو پکارنا کوئی فائدہ نہیں دیتا۔ رحم کے موقع سے اسی وقت فائدہ اٹھانا چاہیے جب وہ میسر ہو، نہ کہ صرف مصیبت کے وقت۔

Proverbs 1:29

Verse: For that they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD

  • English Explanation: The root cause of their destruction is plainly stated: they consciously chose to hate true knowledge and rejected “the fear of the Lord,” which is the foundational starting point of all true wisdom.

  • Urdu Explanation: ان کی تباہی کی اصل وجہ واضح طور پر بتائی گئی ہے: انہوں نے جان بوجھ کر سچے علم سے نفرت کی اور “خداوند کے خوف” کو رد کر دیا، جو کہ تمام حقیقی حکمت کی بنیاد ہے۔

Proverbs 1:30

Verse: They would none of my counsel they despised all my reproof

  • English Explanation: Repeating the charge, the text emphasizes their persistent rebellion. They despised every warning and lesson, sealing their own fate through stubbornness.

  • Urdu Explanation: اپنی سرکشی پر اصرار کرتے ہوئے، انہوں نے ہر تنبیہ اور نصیحت کو حقیر جانا۔ ان کی اسی ضد نے ان کے اپنے انجام پر مہر لگا دی۔

Proverbs 1:31

Verse: Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own devices

  • English Explanation: This explains the law of sowing and reaping. God does not always need to actively strike down the wicked; their own bad choices, corrupt plans, and lifestyle choices naturally bring about their downfall.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ آیت بونے اور کاٹنے کے قانون کو واضح کرتی ہے۔ خدا کو ہمیشہ گنہگاروں کو سزا دینے کے لیے الگ سے کچھ کرنے کی ضرورت نہیں پڑتی، بلکہ ان کے اپنے برے فیصلے اور منصوبے ہی ان کی تباہی کا سبب بنتے ہیں۔

Proverbs 1:32

Verse: For the turning away of the simple shall slay them and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them

  • English Explanation: Naive people are destroyed by turning away from truth, while fools are ruined by their false sense of security in material prosperity. Wealth without wisdom leads directly to destruction.

  • Urdu Explanation: نادان لوگ سچائی سے منہ موڑ کر ہلاک ہو جاتے ہیں، جبکہ احمق مادی خوشحالی کے جھوٹے احساسِ تحفظ میں برباد ہو جاتے ہیں۔ حکمت کے بغیر دولت انسان کو براہ راست تباہی کی طرف لے جاتی ہے۔

Proverbs 1:33

Verse: But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely and shall be quiet from fear of evil

  • English Explanation: In beautiful contrast, those who listen to divine wisdom receive peace, security, and freedom from the paralyzing fear of disaster. They can rest easy knowing they are on the path of life.

  • Urdu Explanation: اس کے برعکس، جو لوگ الہی حکمت کو سنتے ہیں وہ امن، سلامتی اور کسی بھی آفت کے خوف سے آزادی پاتے ہیں۔ وہ پرسکون زندگی گزارتے ہیں کیونکہ وہ زندگی کے سیدھے راستے پر ہوتے ہیں۔

Chapter 2

Proverbs 2:1

Verse: My son if thou wilt receive my words and hide my commandments with thee

  • English Explanation: Chapter 2 begins with a conditional promise. To gain the treasures of wisdom, an individual must be willing to receive God’s words and treasure (“hide”) His commandments deep inside their heart.

  • Urdu Explanation: باب 2 کا آغاز ایک مشروط وعدے سے ہوتا ہے۔ حکمت کے خزانوں کو حاصل کرنے کے لیے، انسان کو دل سے خدا کے کلام کو قبول کرنے اور اس کے احکام کو اپنے اندر محفوظ کرنے کے لیے تیار ہونا چاہیے۔

Proverbs 2:2

Verse: So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom and apply thine heart to understanding

  • English Explanation: This verse demands active participation. We must intentionally direct our ears to listen to truth and deliberately focus our hearts on obtaining understanding, rather than being passive listeners.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ آیت ہماری طرف سے کوشش کا تقاضا کرتی ہے۔ ہمیں صرف سننے کی حد تک نہیں، بلکہ شعوری طور پر اپنے کانوں کو سچائی کی طرف لگانا چاہیے اور اپنے دلوں کو سمجھداری حاصل کرنے پر مرکوز کرنا چاہیے۔

Proverbs 2:3

Verse: Yea if thou criest after knowledge and liftest up thy voice for understanding

  • English Explanation: Seeking wisdom requires passionate desire. Crying out for knowledge means praying fervently and desperately seeking spiritual truth with vocal earnestness.

  • Urdu Explanation: حکمت کی تلاش کے لیے شدید تڑپ کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے۔ علم کے لیے پکارنے کا مطلب ہے پورے دل سے دعا کرنا اور سچائی کو پانے کے لیے گہری خواہش کا اظہار کرنا۔

Proverbs 2:4

Verse: If thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures

  • English Explanation: Wisdom must be valued above material wealth. Just as men sweat, dig, and risk everything to mine silver or find buried gold, we must put the same or greater effort into acquiring divine wisdom.

  • Urdu Explanation: حکمت کو مادی دولت پر ترجیح دی جانی چاہیے۔ جس طرح انسان چاندی نکالنے یا چھپے ہوئے خزانوں کو تلاش کرنے کے لیے دن رات محنت کرتا ہے، اسی طرح ہمیں الہی حکمت حاصل کرنے کے لیے بھی کوشش کرنی چاہیے۔

Proverbs 2:5

Verse: Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God

  • English Explanation: This is the ultimate spiritual breakthrough. If you diligently seek wisdom as instructed in the previous verses, you will successfully grasp what it truly means to fear and deeply know God.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ وہ عظیم روحانی مقام ہے جسے انسان پا سکتا ہے۔ اگر آپ پچھلی آیات کے مطابق محنت سے حکمت تلاش کرتے ہیں، تو آپ خداوند کے خوف کی حقیقت کو سمجھ جائیں گے اور خدا کی معرفت (علم) حاصل کر لیں گے۔

Proverbs 2:6

Verse: For the LORD giveth wisdom out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding

  • English Explanation: True wisdom is not just human intellect or academic study; it is a direct gift from God. Real knowledge and understanding come directly from His spoken Word.

  • Urdu Explanation: حقیقی حکمت محض انسانی عقل یا دنیاوی تعلیم کا نام نہیں، بلکہ یہ خدا کا ایک تحفہ ہے۔ سچا علم اور سمجھداری براہ راست اس کے پاک کلام سے حاصل ہوتی ہے۔

Proverbs 2:7

Verse: He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly

  • English Explanation: God preserves and stores effective, sound wisdom specifically for those who love righteousness. Furthermore, He acts as a protective shield (“buckler”) for everyone who lives with integrity.

  • Urdu Explanation: خدا راستبازوں کے لیے سچی اور مضبوط حکمت جمع کر کے رکھتا ہے۔ مزید برآں، وہ ان تمام لوگوں کے لیے ایک حفاظتی ڈھال بن جاتا ہے جو دیانت داری اور پاکیزگی کے ساتھ زندگی گزارتے ہیں۔

Proverbs 2:8

Verse: He keepeth the paths of judgment and preserveth the way of his saints

  • English Explanation: God actively guards the tracks of justice and watches over the lifestyle of His faithful followers. Believers are under divine protection as they walk through life.

  • Urdu Explanation: خدا عدل و انصاف کے راستوں کی حفاظت کرتا ہے اور اپنے وفادار بندوں کی راہوں کی نگہبانی کرتا ہے۔ مومنین جب زندگی کے سفر پر چلتے ہیں تو وہ خدا کی پناہ میں ہوتے ہیں۔

Proverbs 2:9

Verse: Then shalt thou understand righteousness and judgment and equity yea every good path

  • English Explanation: When God provides you with wisdom, you gain the supernatural ability to discern what is right, just, fair, and equitable in every single moral and life situation.

  • Urdu Explanation: جب خدا آپ کو حکمت عطا کرتا ہے، تو آپ کو ہر معاملے میں اچھے اور برے کی تمیز، عدل و انصاف، اور زندگی کے ہر اچھے اور سیدھے راستے کو سمجھنے کی غیر معمولی صلاحیت مل جاتی ہے۔

Proverbs 2:10

Verse: When wisdom entereth into thine heart and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul

  • English Explanation: This marks a vital transformation. Wisdom is no longer just an external rulebook; it penetrates the inner heart and becomes a joyful, deeply pleasing part of one’s entire soul and character.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ انسان کے اندر ایک عظیم تبدیلی کی نشاندہی کرتا ہے۔ حکمت اب صرف بیرونی قوانین کی کتاب نہیں رہتی، بلکہ یہ انسان کے دل میں داخل ہو کر روح کو خوشی اور اطمینان بخشنے والی غذا بن جاتی ہے۔
