1. “Then Isaac sowed in that land”
The first important word in this verse is “sowed.” Isaac did not simply sit and wait for a blessing. He planted.
Sowing requires faith because a farmer puts seed into the ground before seeing the harvest. The seed initially appears to disappear. The farmer must wait, work, and trust that the planted seed will eventually produce something valuable.
Isaac’s action teaches an important spiritual principle: faith does not mean doing nothing. Faith can involve taking responsible action while trusting God with the outcome.
Isaac was living in Gerar, and the circumstances around him were not necessarily easy. Yet he continued to work the land. His situation did not stop him from sowing.
