Genesis 22:7–8 is one of the most memorable passages in the account of Abraham and Isaac. The conversation is short, but it carries profound meaning about faith, obedience, trust, sacrifice, and God’s provision.

In this passage, Abraham and his son Isaac are traveling together toward the place where Abraham has been instructed to offer Isaac. Abraham is carrying the fire and the knife, while Isaac notices that they have the wood needed for the burnt offering. Isaac also understands that something important is missing: the lamb.
