Ezekiel 12:20
Verse: And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste and the land shall be desolate and ye shall know that I am the LORD

This verse emphasizes the physical reality of God’s impending judgment. The populated towns and cities of Israel, which once felt secure, will face absolute devastation. The ultimate purpose of this severe desolation is spiritual awakening: to strip away false confidence and force the people to acknowledge the absolute sovereignty, authority, and presence of Yahweh.

Ezekiel 12:22
Verse: Son of man what is that proverb that ye have in the land of Israel saying The days are prolonged and every vision faileth

Ezekiel 12:23
Verse: Tell them therefore Thus saith the Lord GOD I will make this proverb to cease and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel but say unto them The days are at hand and the effect of every vision

God directly confronts the people’s mockery. He promises to put an end to this complacent proverb by bringing immediate action. The period of delay is officially over; the days of judgment are imminent, and every single true prophecy will find its immediate fulfillment.

Ezekiel 12:24
Verse: For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel

When God’s true judgment falls, it will completely silence the false prophets. The deceptive, optimistic visions and comforting lies (“flattering divination”) that predicted peace and prosperity to please the crowds will be exposed as completely worthless.

Ezekiel 12:25
Verse: For I am the LORD I will speak and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass it shall be no more prolonged for in your days O rebellious house will I say the word and will perform it saith the Lord GOD

Ezekiel 13:2
Verse: Son of man prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts Hear ye the word of the LORD

Ezekiel 13:3
Verse: Thus saith the Lord GOD Woe unto the foolish prophets that follow their own spirit and have seen nothing

Ezekiel 13:4
Verse: O Israel thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts

The false prophets are compared to foxes roaming among ruins and deserts. Foxes do not build up or protect anything; they scavenge, exploit vulnerabilities, and destroy what is left. Similarly, these prophets exploit the fragile state of the nation for personal gain.

Ezekiel 13:5
Verse: Ye have not gone up into the gaps neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD

Using military and architectural imagery, God exposes their failure as leaders. When a city wall breaches, brave protectors stand in the gap to defend it. These prophets did nothing to spiritually fortify the nation or lead them to repentance to withstand God’s day of judgment.

Ezekiel 13:6
Verse: They have seen vanity and lying divination saying The LORD saith and the LORD hath not sent them and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word

These leaders claimed authority by using the sacred phrase, “The LORD saith.” However, it was a complete lie. By giving false hope to the people, they encouraged them to continue in their sins, expecting their deceptive words to somehow come true.

Ezekiel 13:7
Verse: Have ye not seen a vain vision and have ye not spoken a lying divination whereas ye say The LORD saith it albeit I have not spoken

God asks a rhetorical question to expose their hypocrisy and fraud. He confronts them directly with the reality that they knew their messages did not originate from the Almighty, yet they deliberately attached His holy name to their fabrications.

Ezekiel 13:8
Verse: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD Because ye have spoken vanity and seen lies therefore behold I am against you saith the Lord GOD

Ezekiel 13:9
Verse: And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity and that divine lies they shall not be in the assembly of my people neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel neither shall they enter into the land of Israel and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD

Ezekiel 13:10
Verse: Because even because they have seduced my people saying Peace and there was no peace and one built up a wall and lo others daubed it with untempered morter

Ezekiel 13:11
Verse: Say unto them which daub it with untempered morter that it shall fall there shall be an overflowing shower and ye O great hailstones shall fall and a stormy wind shall rend it
English Explanation
Ezekiel is told to warn those who apply this cheap whitewash that their superficial structure will collapse. God will send a severe judgment, metaphors of a torrential rainstorm, massive hailstones, and violent winds, which will completely tear down their false sense of security.

Verse: Lo when the wall is fallen shall it not be said unto you Where is the daubing wherewith ye have daubed it

When Babylon destroys Jerusalem, the failure of these false prophets will be completely obvious to everyone. People will mock them, asking what happened to all their optimistic assurances and the beautiful cover-ups they had promised.

Ezekiel 13:13
Verse: Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger and great hailstones in my fury to consume it

Ezekiel 13:14
Verse: So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter and bring it down to the ground so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered and it shall fall and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof and ye shall know that I am the LORD

The destruction will be so absolute that even the hidden, faulty foundations of their false theology and prophecies will be exposed to plain sight. The false prophets will perish along with the very systems of delusion they created.

Ezekiel 13:15
Verse: Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall and upon them that have daubed it with untempered morter and will say unto you The wall is no more neither they that daubed it
English Explanation
God will fully satisfy His wrath against both the false message (the wall) and the false messengers (those who daubed it). Both the deception and the deceivers will be completely eradicated from the community.

Ezekiel 13:16
Verse: To wit the prophets of Israel which prophesy concerning Jerusalem and which see visions of peace for her and there is no peace saith the Lord GOD

Ezekiel 13:17
Verse: Likewise thou son of man set thy face against the daughters of thy people which prophesy out of their own heart and prophesy thou against them
