The important point is the news itself: Joseph had arrived.
This was significant because Joseph was not simply an ordinary visitor. He was Jacob’s son, a son whom Jacob had loved deeply and whom he had once believed was dead.
Earlier in Genesis, Jacob had experienced profound grief when he was led to believe that Joseph had been killed. Later, Jacob learned that Joseph was alive and had become a ruler in Egypt. The reunion between father and son was therefore one of the most moving developments in the family story.
2. “Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee”
The announcement specifically identifies Joseph as Jacob’s son. This emphasizes the family relationship.
