Matthew Chapter 6

Matthew 6:32

Verse: For after all these things do the Gentiles seek for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

  • English Explanation: Jesus reminds His followers that obsessing over material anxieties (food, clothing, shelter) is how those without faith live. Believers have a loving heavenly Father who is fully aware of their physical, earthly needs before they even ask.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یسوع اپنے پیروکاروں کو یاد دلاتے ہیں کہ دنیاوی چیزوں (روٹی، کپڑا، مکان) کی فکر میں ڈوبے رہنا ان لوگوں کا طریقہ ہے جو خدا کو نہیں جانتے۔ مومنوں کا ایک آسمانی باپ ہے جو ان کی تمام ضروریات سے پہلے سے ہی واقف ہے۔

Matthew 6:33

Verse: But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  • English Explanation: This is a core spiritual principle. If priorities are aligned to pursue God’s sovereign rule and righteousness first, He promises to fulfill and provide all basic temporal necessities as a natural byproduct.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یہ ایک اہم روحانی اصول ہے۔ اگر انسان کی ترجیحات میں خدا کی بادشاہی اور اس کی راستبازی کی تلاش سب سے پہلے ہو، تو خدا وعدہ کرتا ہے کہ وہ دنیاوی اور مادی ضرورتیں خود بخود پوری کر دے گا۔

Verse: Take therefore no thought for the morrow for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

  • English Explanation: Jesus advises living in the present. Anticipating tomorrow’s problems brings unnecessary anxiety. Each day carries enough challenges of its own, requiring daily reliance on divine grace.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یسوع مسیح کل کی فکر نہ کرنے کی تعلیم دیتے ہیں۔ مستقبل کے مسائل کے بارے میں سوچ کر موجودہ وقت کو خراب کرنا بے جا تشویش ہے۔ ہر دن کی اپنی پریشانی اس دن کے لیے کافی ہے، اس لیے خدا پر توکل رکھیں۔

Matthew Chapter 7

Matthew 7:1

Verse: Judge not that ye be not judged.

  • English Explanation: Christ warns against practicing a critical, self-righteous, and condemning attitude toward others. The standard of scrutiny we apply to people will be the benchmark used by God to evaluate us.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): مسیح دوسروں پر تنقید کرنے اور عیب جوئی کرنے سے منع کرتے ہیں۔ جس سخت معیار سے ہم دوسروں کی عدالت کریں گے، اسی معیار سے خدا روزِ قیامت ہماری عدالت کرے گا۔

Matthew 7:2

Verse: For with what judgment ye judge ye shall be judged and with what measure ye mete it shall be measured to you again.

  • English Explanation: This outlines the divine law of reciprocity. The degree of mercy or harshness we extend to our fellow human beings is exactly what we will receive back from God.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یہ مکافاتِ عمل کا الٰہی قانون ہے۔ جس ناپ سے ہم دوسروں کو ناپتے ہیں، یعنی جتنی سختی یا رحم دلی ہم دوسروں کے ساتھ دکھاتے ہیں، وہی ہمیں واپس ملے گی۔

Matthew 7:3

Verse: And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

  • English Explanation: Jesus uses a humorous, exaggerated metaphor. It is hypocritical to hyper-focus on a tiny speck of fault in a brother while completely ignoring a massive log of sin in one’s own life.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یہاں یسوع ایک تمثیل استعمال کرتے ہیں کہ یہ کیسی منافقت ہے کہ انسان اپنے بھائی کی آنکھ کے تنکے (چھوٹے عیب) پر تو نظر رکھتا ہے، لیکن اپنی آنکھ کے شہتیر (بڑے گناہ) کو نظرانداز کر دیتا ہے۔

Matthew 7:4

Verse: Or how wilt thou say to thy brother Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and behold a beam is in thine own eye?

  • English Explanation: This questions the moral authority of a flawed critic. One cannot offer spiritual correction or counseling to someone else when their own spiritual vision is obstructed by unconfessed, greater sins.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یہ سوال ایک عیب دار نقاد کی اخلاقی حیثیت پر ہے۔ کوئی شخص کسی دوسرے کی اصلاح کیسے کر سکتا ہے جب وہ خود ایک بڑے اور کھلے گناہ کی حالت میں جی رہا ہو؟

Matthew 7:5

Verse: Thou hypocrite first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.

  • English Explanation: True spiritual correction begins with deep personal repentance. Once a believer addresses and clears away their own sins, they regain the clarity and humility required to gently restore someone else.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): سچی روحانی اصلاح کا آغاز اپنی ذات سے ہوتا ہے۔ جب انسان توبہ کر کے اپنے گناہ دور کر لیتا ہے، تو اسے وہ بصیرت اور عاجزی حاصل ہوتی ہے جس سے وہ محبت کے ساتھ دوسرے بھائی کی اصلاح کر سکے۔

Matthew 7:6

Verse: Give not that which is holy unto the dogs neither cast ye your pearls before swine lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you.

  • English Explanation: While we should not judge, we must practice spiritual discernment. Holy truths and precious spiritual wisdom should not be repeatedly forced upon mockers and aggressively hostile individuals who will only abuse and reject it.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): عیب جوئی نہ کرنے کا مطلب عقل کو چھوڑنا نہیں ہے۔ پاک سچائیاں اور روحانی موتی ان لوگوں کے سامنے بار بار پیش نہیں کرنے چاہئیں جو خدا کی باتوں کا مذاق اڑاتے ہیں اور دشمنی پر تلے ہوئے ہیں۔

Matthew 7:7

Verse: Ask and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened unto you

  • English Explanation: Jesus encourages persistent, active prayer. The three verbs—ask, seek, knock—show an increasing intensity in our spiritual pursuit and communication with God, promising answers to faithful persistence.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یسوع مستقل مزاجی سے دعا کرنے کی ترغیب دیتے ہیں۔ مانگنا، ڈھونڈنا، اور دستک دینا—یہ تینوں الفاظ خدا سے مسلسل رابطہ رکھنے اور ایمان میں گہرے ہونے کو ظاہر کرتے ہیں جس کا جواب خدا لازمی دیتا ہے۔

Matthew 7:8

Verse: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

  • English Explanation: A reassuring divine guarantee. God honors the genuine, humble efforts of anyone who approaches Him. No sincere seeker is ever ignored or turned away empty-handed by Heaven.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یہ خدا کی طرف سے ایک پکا وعدہ ہے۔ جو کوئی سچے دل سے خدا کے حضور آتا ہے، وہ محروم نہیں رہتا۔ ہر مانگنے والے، ڈھونڈنے والے اور دستک دینے والے کے لیے فضل کا دروازہ کھولا جاتا ہے۔

Matthew 7:9

Verse: Or what man is there of you whom if his son ask bread will he give him a stone?

  • English Explanation: Jesus appeals to human parental instincts. Even an ordinary, imperfect human father would never mock or trick his hungry child by handing him a useless, dangerous stone instead of sustaining bread.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یہاں انسانی والدین کی محبت کا حوالہ دیا گیا ہے۔ کوئی بھی دنیاوی باپ، چاہے وہ کتنا ہی ناقص کیوں نہ ہو، اپنے بھوکے بیٹے کے مانگنے پر اسے روٹی کی جگہ پتھر دے کر اس کا مذاق نہیں اڑائے گا۔

Matthew 7:10

Verse: Or if he ask a fish will he give him a serpent?

  • Explanation: Similar to the previous verse, a father would not give his child a dangerous, venomous snake when the child asks for fish. Godly parenting naturally looks out for the physical well-being of offspring.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): پچھلی آیت کی طرح، اگر کوئی بچہ مچھلی مانگے تو باپ اسے زہریلا سانپ نہیں دے گا۔ دنیاوی والدین بھی اپنے بچوں کی بھلائی اور حفاظت کا خیال رکھتے ہیں۔

Matthew 7:11

Verse: If ye then being evil know how to give good gifts unto your children how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

  • English Explanation: If flawed, fallen human beings inherently possess enough love to give good things to their offspring, the perfect, holy, and infinitely loving Heavenly Father will abundantly bless those who come to Him in prayer.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): اگر انسان گناہ گار ہونے کے باوجود اپنے بچوں کو اچھی چیزیں دینا جانتے ہیں، تو ہمارا آسمانی باپ جو سراسر محبت اور کامل ہے، اپنے مانگنے والوں کو کس قدر کثرت سے عمدہ چیزیں اور برکات عطا کرے گا!

Matthew 7:12

Verse: Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you do ye even so to them for this is the law and the prophets.

  • English Explanation: Known universally as the “Golden Rule.” It summarizes the ethical essence of the Old Testament Scriptures. True righteousness means proactively treating others with the same kindness, respect, and fairness you desire for yourself.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): اسے سنہرا اصول (Golden Rule) کہا جاتا ہے۔ یہ توریت اور انبیاء کے صحیفوں کا نچوڑ ہے۔ سچی راستبازی یہ ہے کہ تم دوسروں کے ساتھ ویسا ہی بھلا، عزت دارانہ اور منصفانہ سلوک کرو جیسا تم اپنے لیے پسند کرتے ہو۔

Matthew 7:13

Verse: Enter ye in at the strait gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction and many there be which go in thereat

  • English Explanation: Jesus illustrates two spiritual paths. The broad road represents the easy, popular lifestyle of conforming to worldly standards, which requires no moral discipline but ultimately ends in spiritual ruin.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یسوع دو راستوں کی تصویر کشی کرتے ہیں۔ چوڑا راستہ اور بڑا پھاٹک اس دنیاوی، آسان اور مقبول طرزِ زندگی کو ظاہر کرتا ہے جہاں کوئی اخلاقی پابندی نہیں ہوتی، لیکن یہ راستہ تباہی اور ہلاکت پر ختم ہوتا ہے۔

Matthew 7:14

Verse: Because strait is the gate and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life and few there be that find it.

  • English Explanation: The path to eternal life requires self-denial, commitment, and alignment with God’s truth. Because it demands sacrifice and walking against worldly trends, only a few choose this difficult but life-giving way.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): ابدی زندگی کا راستہ تنگ اور کٹھن ہے۔ اس پر چلنے کے لیے خود انکاری اور ایمانداری کی ضرورت ہوتی ہے۔ چونکہ یہ راستہ قربانی مانگتا ہے، اس لیے بہت کم لوگ اسے ڈھونڈتے اور اس پر چلتے ہیں۔

Matthew 7:15

Verse: Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

  • English Explanation: Believers must guard against deceptive spiritual leaders. These false teachers appear harmless, gentle, and orthodox on the outside, but their inner motivations are predatory, seeking personal gain and leading souls astray.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): ایمانداروں کو جھوٹے رہنماؤں سے ہوشیار رہنے کی ہدایت کی گئی ہے۔ یہ لوگ بظاہر معصوم اور بھیڑوں کی مانند نیک نظر آتے ہیں، لیکن اندر سے وہ پھاڑنے والے بھیڑیے ہوتے ہیں جو ذاتی فائدے کے لیے کلیسیا کو گمراہ کرتے ہیں۔

Matthew 7:16

Verse: Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles?

  • English Explanation: Spiritual discernment rests on observation of character and outcomes. Just as a plant’s true nature is identified by what it produces, a teacher’s validity is proven by their long-term behavior, lifestyle, and the spiritual results of their ministry.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): روحانی پرکھ کا طریقہ ان کے کردار سے معلوم ہوتا ہے۔ جیسے خاردار جھاڑیوں سے انگور یا انجیر حاصل نہیں ہو سکتے، ویسے ہی ایک جھوٹے استاد کی اصل حقیقت اس کے اعمال، طرزِ زندگی اور اثرات سے ظاہر ہو جاتی ہے۔

Matthew 7:17

Verse: Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

  • English Explanation: A basic law of nature applied to spiritual health. An inner transformation creates a righteous lifestyle (good fruit), whereas an unrenewed, corrupt heart will inevitably produce sinful behavior (bad fruit).

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): قدرت کا اصول روحانی زندگی پر بھی لاگو ہوتا ہے۔ ایک اچھا اور تندرست درخت اچھا پھل لاتا ہے، جبکہ گندا یا بیمار درخت ہمیشہ خراب اور کڑوا پھل ہی پیدا کرتا ہے۔ انسان کا دل جیسا ہوگا، اس کے اعمال بھی ویسے ہی ہوں گے۔

Matthew 7:18

Verse: A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

  • English Explanation: Consistency of character is inevitable. A person genuinely rooted in God cannot habitually live a lifestyle of wickedness, and a hypocritical, ungodly person cannot fake true spiritual righteousness indefinitely.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): کردار کی تبدیلی مستقل ہوتی ہے۔ خدا کی محبت میں جڑا ہوا انسان مستقل برے کام نہیں کر سکتا، اور نہ ہی ایک منافق شخص دیر تک راستبازی کا جھوٹا ناٹک کر سکتا ہے۔

Matthew 7:19

Verse: Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.

  • English Explanation: A solemn warning of divine judgment. External religious association is not enough. Those who fail to produce the fruits of genuine faith, repentance, and obedience will ultimately face eternal separation and judgment.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یہ خدا کی عدالت کی ایک سخت تنبیہ ہے۔ صرف ظاہری مذہبیت کافی نہیں ہے۔ جو درخت اچھا پھل نہیں لاتا، وہ کاٹا اور آگ میں جھونکا جاتا ہے، یعنی گناہ پر اڑے رہنے والوں کا انجام ہلاکت ہے۔

Matthew 7:20

Verse: Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

  • English Explanation: Jesus repeats this maxim to emphasize its absolute certainty. Do not judge teachers merely by their eloquent words, spectacular charisma, or large following; evaluate them strictly by their moral conduct and conformity to God’s Word.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یسوع اس بات پر دوبارہ زور دیتے ہیں تاکہ یہ ذہن نشین ہو جائے۔ کسی بھی استاد کو اس کی خوش گفتاری یا مقبولیت سے نہ پرکھیں، بلکہ صرف اس کے اخلاق، اعمال اور خدا کے کلام پر وفاداری سے پہچانیں۔

Matthew 7:21

Verse: Not every one that saith unto me Lord Lord shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

  • English Explanation: Verbal profession of faith without practical obedience is empty. Calling Jesus “Lord” is meaningless if a person’s life is not actively submitted to doing the perfect will of God the Father.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): صرف زبان سے ایمان کا دعویٰ کرنا نجات کے لیے کافی نہیں ہے۔ یسوع کو “خداوند، خداوند” کہنا بے معنی ہے اگر انسان کی عملی زندگی خدا باپ کی مرضی پوری کرنے اور اس کی اطاعت کرنے سے خالی ہو۔

Matthew 7:22

Verse: Many will say to me in that day Lord Lord have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

  • English Explanation: On judgment day, many will rely on their spectacular external credentials, spiritual works, or supernatural gifts (prophesying, deliverance, miracles) done using Christ’s name as a justification for their entry into heaven.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): قیامت کے دن بہت سے لوگ اپنے ظاہری معجزات، نبوتوں اور بڑے بڑے مذہبی کاموں کا سہارا لیں گے اور کہیں گے کہ انہوں نے مسیح کے نام سے یہ سب کچھ کیا، تاکہ وہ جنت میں داخل ہو سکیں۔

Matthew 7:23

Verse: And then will I profess unto them I never knew you: depart from me ye that work iniquity.

  • English Explanation: Jesus will reject those who lacked a genuine, intimate relationship with Him. Despite their religious activity, their unrepentant lifestyle of lawlessness proves they were never truly His disciples.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): یسوع انہیں صاف جواب دیں گے کہ میرا تم سے کبھی کوئی تعلق نہیں تھا۔ کیونکہ ان کے بڑے کاموں کے پیچھے سچی توبہ اور محبت نہیں تھی، بلکہ وہ گناہ اور نافرمانی کی زندگی گزارتے رہے۔

Matthew 7:24

Verse: Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them I will liken him unto a wise man which built his house upon a rock

  • English Explanation: True wisdom lies in the application of truth. A believer who listens to Christ’s words and actively obeys them is building a secure spiritual life founded upon an immovable, solid bedrock.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): سچی دانشمندی کلام پر عمل کرنے میں ہے۔ جو شخص یسوع کی باتیں سنتا ہے اور ان پر عمل کرتا ہے، وہ اس عقلمند کی مانند ہے جس نے اپنا گھر چٹان پر بنایا، جس کی بنیاد مضبوط ہے۔

Matthew 7:25

Verse: And the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell not for it was founded upon a rock.

  • English Explanation: Life brings inevitable trials, hardships, and spiritual testing (symbolized by rain, floods, and winds). The obedient believer’s faith remains unshaken and victorious during crises because their foundation is Christ.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): زندگی میں آزمائشیں، مصیبتیں اور طوفان (بارش، سیلاب اور ہوائیں) لازمی آتے ہیں۔ لیکن جس مومن کی بنیاد مسیح کی اطاعت پر ہوتی ہے، اس کا ایمان کسی بھی بحران میں ڈگمگاتا نہیں ہے۔

Matthew 7:26

Verse: And every one that heareth these sayings of mine and doeth them not shall be likened unto a foolish man which built his house upon the sand

  • English Explanation: To hear the Gospel and refuse to implement it in daily life is the ultimate spiritual foolishness. Building a life on human philosophy, worldly security, or superficial religion is as unstable as building on shifting sand.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): کلام کو سننا لیکن اس پر عمل نہ کرنا بدترین بیوقوفی ہے۔ دنیاوی فلسفوں، دولت یا ظاہری مذہبیت پر زندگی کی عمارت کھڑی کرنا ایسا ہی ہے جیسے ریت پر گھر بنانا، جس کی کوئی مضبوطی نہیں ہوتی۔

Matthew 7:27

Verse: And the rain descended and the floods came and the winds blew and beat upon that house; and it fell and great was the fall of it.

  • English Explanation: When severe crises or final judgments hit the disobedient person, their spiritual structure completely collapses. A superficial, unpracticed faith offers absolutely no protection against ruin.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): جب آزمائش کا وقت یا آخری عدالت آئے گی، تو نافرمان شخص کا ظاہری ایمان پوری طرح تباہ ہو جائے گا۔ عمل کے بغیر زبانی دعوے انسان کو ہلاکت سے نہیں بچا سکتے۔

Matthew 7:28

Verse: And it came to pass when Jesus had ended these sayings the people were astonished at his doctrine

  • English Explanation: At the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount, the crowds were deeply moved and amazed. Christ’s teaching style was fundamentally different from anything they had experienced before.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): جب یسوع نے پہاڑی وعظ ختم کیا، تو لوگ ان کی تعلیمات سن کر دنگ رہ گئے۔ مسیح کے سکھانے کا انداز ان کے روایتی طریقوں سے بالکل مختلف اور اثر انگیز تھا۔

Matthew 7:29

Verse: For he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.

  • English Explanation: Unlike the scribes who merely quoted historical traditions and human legal interpretations, Jesus spoke with intrinsic, divine, and sovereign authority, revealing the heart and mind of God directly.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): کیونکہ یسوع فقہیوں کی طرح پرانی روایتوں اور انسانی تاویلوں کا حوالہ نہیں دے رہے تھے، بلکہ وہ الٰہی اور ذاتی اختیارسے بات کر رہے تھے، جو براہِ راست دلوں پر اثر کرتی تھی۔

Matthew Chapter 8

Matthew 8:1

Verse: When he was come down from the mountain great multitudes followed him.

  • English Explanation: As Jesus concluded His sermon and moved down into the plains, large crowds of people, captivated by His teachings and looking for hope, eagerly followed Him.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): جب یسوع پہاڑ سے نیچے اترے، تو ان کی تعلیمات سے متاثر ہو کر اور شفا کی امید میں لوگوں کا ایک بڑا ہجوم ان کے پیچھے ہولیا۔

Matthew 8:2

Verse: And behold there came a leper and worshipped him saying Lord if thou wilt thou canst make me clean.

  • English Explanation: A man afflicted with leprosy (an outcast of society) approached Jesus with immense humility, bowing in worship. He expressed absolute faith in Christ’s power, questioning only His willingness to heal him.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): ایک کوڑھی (جسے معاشرے سے الگ کر دیا جاتا تھا) عاجزی کے ساتھ یسوع کے پاس آیا اور سجدہ کر کے اپنے کامل ایمان کا اظہار کیا کہ اگر یسوع چاہیں تو اسے بالکل پاک اور تندرست کر سکتے ہیں۔

Matthew 8:3

Verse: And Jesus put forth his hand and touched him saying I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

  • English Explanation: Breaking social customs and ceremonial defilement laws, Jesus compassionately touched the untouchable leper. His sovereign words instantly and completely eradicated the disease, restoring the man’s flesh.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو تفسیر): وقت کی سماجی اور مذہبی رسموں کو توڑتے ہوئے، یسوع نے ہمدردی سے اس اچھوت کوڑھی کو چھوا۔ ان کے شفیق الفاظ کہتے ہی وہ شخص فوراً کوڑھ کی بیماری سے پاک اور تندرست ہو گیا۔

Matthew 8:4

Verse: And Jesus saith unto him See thou tell no man; but go thy way shew thyself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded for a testimony unto them.

  • English Explanation: Jesus instructs the healed man to avoid sensational publicity and to follow the Mosaic Law by presenting himself to the priest. This official validation would legally readmit him into society and serve as proof of Jesus’ respect for the law.
