Verse 13

Verse: For because ye did it not at the first the LORD our God made a breach upon us for that we sought him not after the due order English Explanation: David acknowledges that their previous failure and the resulting tragedy (the death of Uzza) occurred because they ignored God’s specific instructions. True worship requires following God’s “due order” rather than human convenience. Urdu Explanation: داؤد بادشاہ اس بات کا اعتراف کرتا ہے کہ پہلے حملے میں ناکامی اور خدا کا غضب اس لیے نازل ہوا کیونکہ انہوں نے خدا کے مقرر کردہ طریقے (شرعی ترتیب) کی پیروی نہیں کی تھی۔ خدا کی مرضی کو انسانی مرضی پر فوقیت دینا ضروری ہے۔

Verse 14

Verse: So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel English Explanation: Preparation for God’s presence begins with internal holiness. The priests and Levites underwent ceremonial cleansing to set themselves apart for this sacred task. Urdu Explanation: کاہنوں اور لاویوں نے اپنے آپ کو پاک اور مخصوص کیا تاکہ وہ اسرائیل کے خدا کے عہد کے صندوق کو اٹھا سکیں۔ خدا کی خدمت کے لیے ظاہری اور باطنی پاکیزگی پہلا قدم ہے۔

Verse 15

Verse: And the children of the Levites bare the ark of God upon their shoulders with the staves thereon as Moses commanded according to the word of the LORD English Explanation: Correcting their previous mistake of using a cart, the Levites carried the Ark using poles on their shoulders, strictly following the Mosaic Law. Urdu Explanation: لاویوں نے خدا کے صندوق کو اپنے کندھوں پر لٹھوں کے ذریعے اٹھایا جیسا کہ موسیٰ نے خدا کے حکم کے مطابق فرمایا تھا۔ یہ اطاعت گزاری کی علامت تھی۔

Verse 16

Verse: And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick psalteries and harps and cymbals sounding by lifting up the voice with joy English Explanation: David organized a professional ministry of music. Worship was not just a ritual but an exuberant expression of joy using voices and various instruments. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے لاویوں کے سرداروں کو حکم دیا کہ وہ اپنے بھائیوں کو گانے والوں کے طور پر مقرر کریں جو سازوں، ستاروں اور جھانجوں کے ساتھ خوشی سے اپنی آواز بلند کریں۔

Verse 17

Verse: So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel and of his brethren Asaph the son of Berechiah and of the sons of Merari their brethren Ethan the son of Kushaiah English Explanation: Specific leaders were chosen for the choir, representing the different families of the Levites (Kohath, Gershon, and Merari), ensuring a balanced representation. Urdu Explanation: موسیقی کی خدمت کے لیے ہیمان، آسف اور ایتان کو مقرر کیا گیا، جو لاویوں کے مختلف خاندانوں کی نمائندگی کرتے تھے۔

Verse 18

Verse: And with them their brethren of the second degree Zechariah Ben and Jaaziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni Eliab and Benaiah and Maaseiah and Mattithiah and Elipheleh and Mikneiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel the porters English Explanation: A secondary group was appointed to support the leaders and serve as gatekeepers (porters), showing that every role in God’s service is important. Urdu Explanation: ان کے ساتھ دوسرے درجے کے بھائیوں اور دربانوں کو بھی مقرر کیا گیا، جو اس بات کی نشاندہی کرتا ہے کہ خدا کے گھر کی ہر خدمت اہم ہے۔

Verse 19

Verse: So the singers Heman Asaph and Ethan were appointed to sound with cymbals of brass English Explanation: The lead singers also played brass cymbals to keep the beat and lead the musical progression. Urdu Explanation: ہیمان، آسف اور ایتان پیتل کے جھانج بجانے کے لیے مقرر کیے گئے تاکہ موسیقی میں تال اور جوش پیدا ہو۔

Verse 20

Verse: And Zechariah and Aziel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Unni and Eliab and Maaseiah and Benaiah with psalteries on Alamoth English Explanation: These musicians played “psalteries on Alamoth,” which likely refers to a higher-pitched or soprano musical register. Urdu Explanation: یہ گروہ ‘عالموت’ کی طرز پر ستار بجانے کے لیے مقرر ہوا، جو کہ موسیقی کی ایک خاص اونچی آواز یا طرز تھی۔

Verse 21

Verse: And Mattithiah and Elipheleh and Mikneiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel and Azaziah with harps on the Sheminith to excel English Explanation: These individuals played harps on the “Sheminith,” a musical term likely referring to a lower octave or bass register. Urdu Explanation: یہ لوگ ‘شمینت’ (نیچی آواز) پر بربط بجانے کے لیے مقرر تھے تاکہ موسیقی میں توازن اور بہتری آئے۔

Verse 22

Verse: And Chenaniah chief of the Levites was for song he instructed about the song because he was skilful English Explanation: Skill matters in worship. Chenaniah was the director because of his expertise and ability to teach others. Urdu Explanation: کنانیاہ جو لاویوں کا سردار تھا، گانے کے فن میں ماہر ہونے کی وجہ سے دوسروں کو تعلیم دیتا اور موسیقی کی قیادت کرتا تھا۔

Verse 23

Verse: And Berechiah and Elkanah were doorkeepers for the ark English Explanation: Guarding the Ark was a sacred duty assigned to specific men to ensure the sanctity of the area. Urdu Explanation: برکیاہ اور القانہ کو صندوق کی حفاظت کے لیے دربان مقرر کیا گیا تھا۔

Verse 24

Verse: And Shebaniah and Jehoshaphat and Nethaneel and Amasai and Zechariah and Benaiah and Eliezer the priests did blow with the trumpets before the ark of God and Obed-edom and Jehiah were doorkeepers for the ark English Explanation: Priests were assigned to blow trumpets, signaling the presence of the King of Kings, while others guarded the Ark’s path. Urdu Explanation: کاہنوں کو خدا کے صندوق کے آگے نرسنگے پھونکنے کی ذمہ داری دی گئی، جو خدا کے جلال اور بادشاہی کا اعلان تھا۔

Verse 25

Verse: So David and the elders of Israel and the captains over thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the house of Obed-edom with joy English Explanation: The entire leadership of Israel joined together. This was a national event of spiritual unity and immense joy. Urdu Explanation: داؤد، بزرگوں اور سپہ سالاروں نے مل کر عوبید ادوم کے گھر سے عہد کا صندوق لانے کا سفر بڑی خوشی کے ساتھ شروع کیا۔

Verse 26

Verse: And it came to pass when God helped the Levites that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD that they offered seven bullocks and seven rams English Explanation: Recognizing that even the physical strength to carry the Ark came from God, they offered sacrifices as an act of thanksgiving for His help. Urdu Explanation: جب خدا نے لاویوں کی مدد کی تو انہوں نے شکرگزاری کے طور پر سات بیلوں اور سات مینڈھوں کی قربانی پیش کی۔

Verse 27

Verse: And David was clothed with a robe of fine linen and all the Levites that bare the ark and the singers and Chenaniah the master of the song with the singers David also had upon him an ephod of linen English Explanation: David set aside his royal robes for a simple linen ephod, humbling himself before God and identifying with the worshippers. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے شاہانہ لباس کے بجائے کتانی لباس پہنا، جو اس کی عاجزی اور خدا کے حضور بندگی کی علامت تھا۔

Verse 28

Verse: Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting and with sound of the cornet and with trumpets and with cymbals making a noise with psalteries and harps English Explanation: The arrival of the Ark was marked by a triumphant, loud, and musical celebration involving the whole nation. Urdu Explanation: سارا اسرائیل شور مچاتے، نرسنگے پھونکتے اور مختلف ساز بجاتے ہوئے عہد کے صندوق کو یروشلم میں لے آیا۔

Verse 29

Verse: And it came to pass as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing and she despised him in her heart English Explanation: While Israel rejoiced, Michal (Saul’s daughter) looked on with pride and bitterness, judging David’s passionate worship as undignified. Urdu Explanation: جب صندوق شہر میں داخل ہوا تو ساؤل کی بیٹی میکل نے داؤد کو خوشی سے ناچتے دیکھا اور اپنے دل میں اس کی تحقیر کی، کیونکہ وہ روحانی جوش کو سمجھ نہ سکی۔


Chapter 16

Verse 1

Verse: So they brought the ark of God and set it in the midst of the tent that David had pitched for it and they offered burnt sacrifices and peace offerings before God English Explanation: The Ark was placed in its new home. The sacrifices represented total consecration (burnt) and fellowship with God (peace). Urdu Explanation: وہ خدا کے صندوق کو لے آئے اور اسے اس خیمے میں رکھا جو داؤد نے تیار کیا تھا، اور وہاں سوختنی اور سلامتی کی قربانیاں پیش کی گئیں۔

Verse 2

Verse: And when David had made an end of offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings he blessed the people in the name of the LORD English Explanation: As a shepherd-king, David’s priority was the spiritual well-being of his people, pronouncing a blessing over them after the worship. Urdu Explanation: قربانیاں ختم کرنے کے بعد داؤد نے خداوند کے نام سے قوم کو برکت دی، جو کہ ایک روحانی پیشوا کے طور پر اس کی محبت کا اظہار تھا۔

Verse 3

Verse: And he dealt to every one of Israel both man and woman to every one a loaf of bread and a good piece of flesh and a flagon of wine English Explanation: The spiritual celebration was followed by a physical feast, showing David’s generosity and the joy shared by the entire community. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے ہر اسرائیلی مرد اور عورت کو روٹی، گوشت کا ٹکڑا اور کشمش کا ایک مٹکا تقسیم کیا تاکہ سب اس خوشی میں شریک ہو سکیں۔

Verse 4

Verse: And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD and to record and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel English Explanation: David established a permanent system of worship, ensuring that gratitude and praise to God would be continuous and recorded. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے لاویوں کو مقرر کیا کہ وہ مستقل طور پر صندوق کے سامنے خدمت کریں، خدا کا شکر بجا لائیں اور اس کی حمد و ثنا کریں۔

Verse 5

Verse: Asaph the chief and next to him Zechariah Jeiel and Shemiramoth and Jehiel and Mattithiah and Eliab and Benaiah and Obed-edom and Jeiel with psalteries and with harps but Asaph made a sound with cymbals English Explanation: Asaph was confirmed as the leader of the musical ministry, orchestrating a diverse group of instrumentalists. Urdu Explanation: آسف کو سربراہ مقرر کیا گیا اور دوسرے لاویوں کو مختلف سازوں کے ساتھ اس کی مدد کے لیے ٹھہرایا گیا تاکہ خدا کی حمد کا سلسلہ جاری رہے۔

Verse 6

Verse: Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God English Explanation: The priests maintained a constant presence with trumpets, signifying the ongoing communication and honor between God and His people. Urdu Explanation: بنایاہ اور یحزی ایل کاہنوں کو مقرر کیا گیا کہ وہ خدا کے عہد کے صندوق کے سامنے مسلسل نرسنگے بجاتے رہیں۔

Verse 7

Verse: Then on that day David delivered first this psalm to thank the LORD into the hand of Asaph and his brethren English Explanation: This marks a historic moment where David officially handed over a written Psalm of thanksgiving to Asaph, institutionalizing liturgical praise. Urdu Explanation: اسی دن داؤد نے پہلی بار خدا کا شکر ادا کرنے کے لیے ایک زبور آسف اور اس کے بھائیوں کے سپرد کیا، تاکہ اسے باقاعدہ عبادت میں استعمال کیا جا سکے۔
