1 Kings 8:54

Verse: And it was so that when Solomon had made an end of praying all this prayer and supplication unto the LORD he arose from before the altar of the LORD from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven.

1 Kings 8:55

Verse: And he stood and blessed all the congregation of Israel with a loud voice saying

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): سلیمان اب ایک بادشاہ اور روحانی پیشوا کی حیثیت سے کھڑے ہوئے اور انہوں نے بلند آواز میں اسرائیل کی پوری جماعت کو برکت دی تاکہ وہاں موجود تمام لوگ ان کے الفاظ سن سکیں اور اس عظیم عبادت کا حصہ بن سکیں۔

1 Kings 8:56

Verse: Blessed be the LORD that hath given rest unto his people Israel according to all that he promised there hath not failed one word of all his good promise which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.

  • English Explanation: Solomon begins his blessing by praising God for His absolute faithfulness. The key theme here is “rest” and fulfilled promises. Centuries prior, God promised Moses that Israel would enter the Promised Land and find rest; Solomon acknowledges that every single word of that covenant has come to pass.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): سلیمان نے خدا کی تعریف اور شکر گزاری سے شروعات کی کہ خدا نے اپنے وعدے کے مطابق بنی اسرائیل کو سکون اور امن عطا کیا۔ انہوں نے اعتراف کیا کہ خدا نے اپنے خادم موسیٰ کے ذریعے جو بھی نیک وعدے کیے تھے ان میں سے ایک لفظ بھی پورا ہوئے بغیر نہیں رہا۔ خدا اپنے وعدوں میں سچا ہے۔

1 Kings 8:57

Verse: The LORD our God be with us as he was with our fathers let him not leave us nor forsake us

  • English Explanation: Solomon prays for the continuation of God’s divine presence. The ultimate blessing for Israel was not just the physical land or the beautiful temple, but the constant presence of God guiding them, just as He had guided Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): سلیمان دعا کرتے ہیں کہ خداوند ہمارا خدا ہمارے ساتھ ویسا ہی رہے جیسا وہ ہمارے باپ دادا کے ساتھ تھا۔ وہ التجا کرتے ہیں کہ خدا انہیں کبھی اکیلا نہ چھوڑے اور نہ ہی کبھی ان سے دستبردار ہو کیونکہ خدا کی موجودگی ہی ان کی اصل طاقت ہے۔

1 Kings 8:58

Verse: That he may incline our hearts unto him to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments which he commanded our fathers.

  • English Explanation: This is a request for inner spiritual transformation. Solomon recognizes that human strength is insufficient to remain faithful. He asks God to “incline” (turn or bend) their hearts toward obedience, enabling them to follow His biblical laws and commands daily.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): اس آیت میں سلیمان دل کی روحانی تبدیلی کے لیے دعا کر رہے ہیں۔ وہ کہتے ہیں کہ خدا ہمارے دلوں کو اپنی طرف مائل کرے تاکہ ہم اس کی راہوں پر چل سکیں اور ان تمام احکامات قوانین اور آئین پر عمل کر سکیں جو اس نے ہمارے باپ دادا کو دیے تھے۔

1 Kings 8:59

Verse: And let these my words wherewith I have made supplication before the LORD be nigh unto the LORD our God day and night that he maintain the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel at all times as the matter shall require

  • English Explanation: Solomon asks that his dedication prayer remain continually active in God’s presence, night and day. He petitions God to act as Israel’s divine advocate and protector, stepping in to support the king (“his servant”) and the nation whenever troubles arise.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): سلیمان التجا کرتے ہیں کہ جو دعائیں انہوں نے مانگی ہیں وہ دن رات خدا کے حضور یاد رکھی جائیں۔ وہ چاہتے ہیں کہ خدا ہمیشہ اپنے خادم (بادشاہ) اور اپنی قوم اسرائیل کی حمایت کرے اور وقت کی ضرورت کے مطابق ان کی مدد فرمائے۔

1 Kings 8:60

Verse: That all the people of the earth may know that the LORD is God and that there is none else.

  • English Explanation: This reveals the ultimate, global purpose of Israel’s blessing and the Temple. God’s goodness to Israel was not meant to make them arrogant, but to serve as a testimony to surrounding pagan nations so that the whole world would realize that Yahweh is the only true God.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): اس آیت سے ظاہر ہوتا ہے کہ اسرائیل کو برکت دینے کا اصل مقصد دنیا کو خدا کی طرف راغب کرنا تھا۔ سلیمان چاہتے ہیں کہ دنیا کی تمام اقوام یہ جان لیں کہ صرف خداوند ہی سچا خدا ہے اور اس کے سوا کوئی دوسرا خدا نہیں۔

1 Kings 8:61

Verse: Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God to walk in his statutes and to keep his commandments as at this day.

  • English Explanation: Solomon turns to the congregation with a strong exhortation. Having praised God’s faithfulness, he demands total loyalty from the people. A “perfect” heart in this context does not mean sinless perfection, but undivided, wholehearted commitment to God’s laws.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): سلیمان اب لوگوں کو نصیحت کرتے ہیں کہ ان کا دل خداوند کے ساتھ پوری طرح وفادار ہونا چاہیے۔ وہ لوگوں پر زور دیتے ہیں کہ وہ خدا کے احکامات پر خلوصِ دل سے عمل کریں جیسا کہ وہ اس عظیم دن پر کر رہے ہیں۔

1 Kings 8:62

Verse: And the king and all Israel with him offered sacrifice before the LORD.

  • English Explanation: Worship in the Old Testament involved both prayer and physical sacrifice. Following the verbal dedication, the entire nation joins King Solomon in presenting massive animal sacrifices to consecrate the newly built Temple and seal their covenant with God.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): دعا اور نصیحت کے بعد عملی عبادت کا وقت آیا۔ بادشاہ سلیمان اور تمام بنی اسرائیل نے مل کر ہیکل کی تقدیس کے موقع پر خدا کے حضور قربانیاں پیش کیں۔

1 Kings 8:63

Verse: And Solomon offered a sacrifice of peace offerings which he offered unto the LORD two and twenty thousand oxen and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep So the king and all the children of Israel dedicated the house of the LORD.

  • English Explanation: The sheer volume of the sacrifice—22,000 oxen and 120,000 sheep—highlights the immense wealth of Solomon’s kingdom and the staggering size of the gathered crowd. Peace offerings were celebratory sacrifices where a portion of the meat was shared and eaten by the worshipers in fellowship.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): سلیمان نے خدا کے حضور ۲۲ ہزار بیل اور ۱ لاکھ ۲۰ ہزار بھیڑ بکریاں سلامتی کی قربانی کے طور پر پیش کیں۔ یہ عظیم الشان قربانی سلطنت کی خوشحالی اور خدا کے لیے ان کی محبت کو ظاہر کرتی ہے۔ اس طرح ہیکل کو خدا کے نام وقف کیا گیا۔

1 Kings 8:64

Verse: The same day did the king hallow the middle of the court that was before the house of the LORD for there he offered burnt offerings and meat offerings and the fat of the peace offerings because the brasen altar that was before the LORD was too little to receive the burnt offerings and meat offerings and the fat of the peace offerings.

  • English Explanation: The standard bronze altar built for everyday sacrifices was physically too small to hold the thousands of offerings brought during this dedication. To accommodate the massive volume, Solomon sanctified (“hallowed”) the entire central courtyard to act as an extended temporary altar.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): قربانیوں کی تعداد اتنی زیادہ تھی کہ ہیکل کا بنیادی پیتل کا مذبح (قربان گاہ) چھوٹا پڑ گیا۔ اس لیے سلیمان نے ہیکل کے سامنے والے پورے صحن کو عارضی طور پر پاک کیا تاکہ وہاں تمام سوختنی قربانیاں اور چربی پیش کی جا سکے۔

1 Kings 8:65

Verse: And at that time Solomon held a feast and all Israel with him a great congregation from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt before the LORD our God seven days and seven days even fourteen days.

  • English Explanation: This was a historic, national celebration. People traveled from the furthest northern borders (Hamath) to the southern boundaries (the river of Egypt). The celebration lasted for a total of fourteen days, combining the 7-day Temple dedication festival with the subsequent 7-day Festival of Tabernacles.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): سلیمان نے اس خوشی کے موقع پر ایک عظیم ضیافت کا اہتمام کیا جس میں ملک کے طول و عرض (حمات سے لے کر مصر کی ندی تک) سے لوگ جمع ہوئے۔ یہ جشن کل چودہ دن تک جاری رہا جس میں ہیکل کی تقدیس اور عیدِ خیام دونوں شامل تھیں۔

1 Kings 8:66

Verse: On the eighth day he sent the people away and they blessed the king and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant and for Israel his people.

  • English Explanation: After the final day of the feast, Solomon dismisses the crowd. The people return home filled with genuine joy and spiritual fulfillment, deeply grateful for what God had done for David (initiating the promise) and for Israel (fulfilling it through Solomon).

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): جشن کے اختتام پر سلیمان نے لوگوں کو رخصت کیا۔ لوگ بادشاہ کو دعائیں دیتے ہوئے اپنے گھروں کو لوٹے؛ ان کے دل اس تمام بھلائی اور فضل کی وجہ سے خوشی سے بھرے ہوئے تھے جو خدا نے اپنے خادم داؤد اور اپنی قوم اسرائیل پر کیا تھا۔

1 Kings 9:1

Verse: And it came to pass when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the LORD and the king’s house and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do

  • English Explanation: This shifts to the next phase of Solomon’s life, roughly twenty years after he began building. He completed both the house of God (the Temple) and his personal royal palace, fulfilling every construction project and luxury he desired to accomplish.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): یہاں سے سلیمان کی زندگی کا اگلا باب شروع ہوتا ہے۔ جب سلیمان خدا کے گھر (ہیکل) اور اپنے شاہی محل کی تعمیر مکمل کر چکے اور ان کی تمام خواہشات پوری ہو گئیں تو اس کے بعد کا واقعہ بیان کیا گیا ہے۔

1 Kings 9:2

Verse: That the LORD appeared to Solomon the second time as he had appeared unto him at Gibeon.

  • English Explanation: God responds to Solomon’s completed work by appearing to him directly for a second time. The first time was at Gibeon (where Solomon asked for wisdom). This second appearance provides a divine evaluation of Solomon’s career and heart condition.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): خدا نے سلیمان کے کام کو قبول کرتے ہوئے ان پر دوسری بار ظہور کیا۔ پہلی بار خدا جبعون میں ظاہر ہوا تھا جہاں سلیمان نے حکمت مانگی تھی۔ اب خدا دوبارہ ان سے ہمکلام ہونے آیا۔

1 Kings 9:3

Verse: And the LORD said unto him I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication that thou hast made before me I have hallowed this house which thou hast built to put my name there for ever and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

  • English Explanation: God explicitly confirms that He heard Solomon’s prayer from Chapter 8. He accepts the physical building, fills it with His presence (“my name”), and promises that His divine gaze and heart will always remain focused on this holy place.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): خدا نے سلیمان سے فرمایا کہ میں نے تمہاری دعا اور التجا سن لی ہے۔ میں نے اس گھر کو پاک کیا ہے جو تم نے بنایا ہے تاکہ میرا نام وہاں ہمیشہ رہے؛ میری آنکھیں اور میرا دل ہمیشہ اس ہیکل پر لگے رہیں گے۔

1 Kings 9:4

Verse: And if thou wilt walk before me as David thy father walked in integrity of heart and in uprightness to do according to all that I have commanded thee and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments

  • English Explanation: God reminds Solomon that divine blessings are tied to conditional obedience. God holds up King David as the standard of a faithful leader. Solomon must rule with “integrity of heart” and “uprightness,” following God’s laws to keep the covenant secure.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): خدا سلیمان کو یاد دلاتا ہے کہ برکات کا تسلسل فرمانبرداری سے مشروط ہے۔ خدا نے داؤد کی مثال دی کہ اگر سلیمان بھی اپنے باپ داؤد کی طرح خلوصِ دل راستی اور وفاداری کے ساتھ خدا کے احکامات اور قوانین پر چلیں گے تو برکت پائیں گے۔

1 Kings 9:5

Verse: Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever as I promised to David thy father saying There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

  • English Explanation: If Solomon remains obedient, God promises to fulfill the Davidic Covenant locally through his lineage, ensuring that Solomon’s descendants will continue to sit on the throne of Israel indefinitely.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): خدا فرماتا ہے کہ اگر تم وفادار رہے تو میں اسرائیل پر تمہاری بادشاہی کے تخت کو ہمیشہ قائم رکھوں گا جیسا کہ میں نے تمہارے باپ داؤد سے وعدہ کیا تھا کہ اسرائیل کے تخت پر تمہاری نسل سے ہمیشہ کوئی نہ کوئی مرد موجود رہے گا۔

1 Kings 9:6

Verse: But if ye shall at all turn from following me ye or your children and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you but go and serve other gods and worship them

  • English Explanation: This functions as a solemn divine warning. God explicitly outlines the consequences of apostasy (falling away from the faith). If Solomon or his future descendants abandon God’s commandments to worship pagan, foreign idols, the covenantal protection will be revoked.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): یہاں خدا سنگین انتباہ دیتا ہے کہ اگر تم یا تمہاری اولاد میرے پیچھے چلنے سے پھر جائے اور میرے دیے ہوئے احکامات کو چھوڑ کر دوسرے جھوٹے معبودوں کی پوجا اور پرستش کرنے لگے تو اس کے ہولناک نتائج ہوں گے۔

1 Kings 9:7

Verse: Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them and this house which I have hallowed for my name will I cast out of my sight and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people

  • English Explanation: God states that disobedience will result in two severe judgments: the exile of the people from their promised land and the absolute destruction/abandonment of the magnificent Temple. 1 Kings 9:8

Verse: And at this house which is high every one that passeth by it shall be astonished and shall hiss and they shall say Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land and to this house?

  • English Explanation: The Temple, despite its incredible height, beauty, and architectural prestige, would become a ruined heap if Israel rebelled. Passersby would view the destruction with absolute shock, mocking them (“hiss”) and asking why their own God brought such massive devastation upon His chosen land and sanctuary.

  • Urdu Explanation (تشریح): خدا انتباہ ختم کرتے ہوئے کہتا ہے کہ یہ ہیکل جو آج اتنی بلند اور عظیم الشان ہے تباہی کے بعد مٹی کا ڈھیر بن جائے گی۔ یہاں سے گزرنے والا ہر شخص حیران ہوگا اور افسوس یا تمسخر سے سیٹی بجا کر کہے گا کہ خداوند نے اس ملک اور اس گھر کے ساتھ ایسا کیوں کیا؟ یہ آیت نافرمانی کے بھیانک انجام کی یاد دہانی کرواتی ہے۔
