Book of Ruth: Chapter 4 (Verses 12–22)

Ru 4 12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez whom Tamar bare unto Judah of the seed which the LORD shall give thee of this young woman

  • English: The elders bless Boaz, wishing his family to be as fruitful and significant as Pharez, the ancestor of the tribe of Judah.

  • Urdu: بزرگوں نے بوعز کو دعا دی کہ اس کا خاندان فارص کے خاندان کی طرح پھلے پھولے جسے تمر نے یہوداہ کے لیے جنا تھا اور خدا اس عورت کے وسیلے اسے نسل عطا کرے۔

Ru 4 13 So Boaz took Ruth and she was his wife and when he went in unto her the LORD gave her conception and she bare a son

  • English: Boaz marries Ruth, and through God’s blessing, she conceives and gives birth to a son, signaling the end of her widowhood and sorrow.

  • Urdu: بوعز نے روت سے شادی کی اور وہ اس کی بیوی بنی۔ خدا کے فضل سے وہ حاملہ ہوئی اور اس کے ہاں بیٹا پیدا ہوا جو روت کے دکھوں کا مداوا ثابت ہوا۔

Ru 4 14 And the women said unto Naomi Blessed be the LORD which hath not left thee this day without a kinsman that his name may be famous in Israel

  • English: The women of the city celebrate with Naomi, acknowledging that God has provided a “redeemer” (the grandson) to carry on the family name.

  • Urdu: عورتوں نے نعومی سے کہا کہ خداوند مبارک ہے جس نے تجھے آج کے دن وارث کے بغیر نہیں چھوڑا تاکہ اسرائیل میں اس کا نام روشن ہو۔

Ru 4 15 And he shall be unto thee a restorer of thy life and a nourisher of thine old age for thy daughter in law which loveth thee which is better to thee than seven sons hath born him

  • English: The child is seen as Naomi’s restorer. The verse highlights Ruth’s incredible love, stating she is more valuable to Naomi than seven sons.

Ru 4 16 And Naomi took the child and laid it in her bosom and became nurse unto it

  • Urdu: نعومی نے بچے کو اپنی گود میں لیا اور اس کی پرورش کرنے لگی اور اس کی خادمہ (دایہ) بن گئی۔

Ru 4 17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name saying There is a son born to Naomi and they called his name Obed he is the father of Jesse the father of David

  • English: The neighbors name him Obed. This verse establishes the royal lineage: Obed is the grandfather of King David.

  • Urdu: پڑوسی عورتوں نے اسے “عوبید” کا نام دیا اور کہا کہ نعومی کے ہاں بیٹا پیدا ہوا ہے۔ یہی عوبید یسی کا باپ اور داؤد کا دادا تھا۔

Ru 4 18 Now these are the generations of Pharez Pharez begat Hezron

  • Urdu: یہ فارص کی نسل کا بیان ہے کہ فارص سے حصرون پیدا ہوا۔

Ru 4 19 And Hezron begat Ram and Ram begat Amminadab

  • Urdu: اور حصرون سے رام اور رام سے عیمینداب پیدا ہوا۔

Ru 4 20 And Amminadab begat Nahshon and Nahshon begat Salmon

  • English: Nahshon was a leader in Judah during the Exodus, leading to Salmon.

  • Urdu: اور عیمینداب سے نحشون اور نحشون سے سلمون پیدا ہوا۔

Ru 4 21 And Salmon begat Boaz and Boaz begat Obed

  • English: Salmon was the father of Boaz, who married Ruth and fathered Obed.

  • Urdu: اور سلمون سے بوعز اور بوعز سے عوبید پیدا ہوا۔

Ru 4 22 And Obed begat Jesse and Jesse begat David

1 Samuel: Chapter 1 (Verses 1–13)

1Sa 1 1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim of mount Ephraim and his name was Elkanah the son of Jeroham the son of Elihu the son of Tohu the son of Zuph an Ephrathite

  • English: Introduction to Elkanah, a devout man from the hill country of Ephraim and his detailed ancestry.

  • Urdu: راماتیم صوفیم کا ایک شخص تھا جس کا نام القانہ تھا۔ وہ افرائیم کے پہاڑی علاقے کا رہنے والا اور ایک معزز خاندان سے تھا۔

1Sa 1 2 And he had two wives the name of the one was Hannah and the name of the other Peninnah and Peninnah had children but Hannah had no children

  • English: Elkanah had two wives. Peninnah had children, but Hannah was barren, creating a central conflict of social and personal distress.

  • Urdu: اس کی دو بیویاں تھیں ایک کا نام حنا اور دوسری کا فننہ۔ فننہ کے بچے تھے لیکن حنا بانجھ تھی اور اس کی کوئی اولاد نہ تھی۔

1Sa 1 3 And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the LORD of hosts in Shiloh And the two sons of Eli Hophni and Phinehas the priests of the LORD were there

  • English: Elkanah was a faithful worshiper who traveled annually to Shiloh, where Eli’s sons served as priests.

1Sa 1 4 And when the time was that Elkanah offered he gave to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and her daughters portions

  • English: During the sacrificial meal, Elkanah distributed portions of meat to Peninnah and all her children.

  • Urdu: جب القانہ قربانی کرتا تو وہ اپنی بیوی فننہ اور اس کے تمام بیٹوں اور بیٹیوں کو قربانی کے گوشت کے حصے دیتا تھا۔

1Sa 1 5 But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion for he loved Hannah but the LORD had shut up her womb

  • English: Despite her barrenness, Elkanah gave Hannah a double portion because he loved her deeply, though she remained childless by divine providence.

  • Urdu: لیکن وہ حنا کو دوہرا حصہ دیتا تھا کیونکہ وہ اس سے محبت کرتا تھا اگرچہ خداوند نے اس کا رحم بند کر رکھا تھا۔

1Sa 1 6 And her adversary also provoked her sore for to make her fret because the LORD had shut up her womb

  • English: Peninnah (the adversary) mocked and provoked Hannah constantly to upset her because of her inability to conceive.

  • Urdu: اور اس کی سوکن (فننہ) اسے بہت ستاتی اور چڑاتی تھی تاکہ اسے غمزدہ کرے کیونکہ وہ بانجھ تھی۔

1Sa 1 7 And as he did so year by year when she went up to the house of the LORD so she provoked her therefore she wept and did not eat

  • English: This harassment happened every year during their pilgrimage, leading Hannah to weep and lose her appetite.

  • Urdu: یہ سلسلہ سال بہ سال چلتا رہا۔ جب کبھی وہ خدا کے گھر جاتے فننہ اسے اتنا اکساتی کہ حنا رونے لگتی اور کھانا پینا چھوڑ دیتی۔

1Sa 1 8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her Hannah why weepest thou and why eatest thou not and why is thy heart grieved am not I better to thee than ten sons

  • English: Elkanah tries to comfort Hannah, asking if his love isn’t more valuable to her than having many sons.

  • Urdu: اس کے شوہر القانہ نے اس سے کہا “حنا تو کیوں روتی ہے اور کھانا کیوں نہیں کھاتی؟ تیرا دل کیوں غمگین ہے؟ کیا میں تیرے لیے دس بیٹوں سے بہتر نہیں ہوں؟”

1Sa 1 9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh and after they had drunk Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the LORD

  • English: After the meal, Hannah went to the Tabernacle to pray. Eli the priest was sitting by the entrance.

  • Urdu: شیلوہ میں کھانے پینے کے بعد حنا اٹھی اور دعا کے لیے گئی جہاں عیلی کاہن ہیکل کے ستون کے پاس اپنی کرسی پر بیٹھا تھا۔

1Sa 1 10 And she was in bitterness of soul and prayed unto the LORD and wept sore

  • English: In deep emotional pain, Hannah prayed fervently to God, weeping bitterly over her situation.

  • Urdu: وہ نہایت رنجیدہ تھی اور زار و قطار رو رو کر خداوند سے دعا کرنے لگی۔

1Sa 1 11 And she vowed a vow and said O LORD of hosts if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid and remember me and not forget thine handmaid but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life and there shall no razor come upon his head

  • English: Hannah makes a vow: if God gives her a son, she will dedicate him to God’s service as a Nazirite for his entire life.

  • Urdu: اس نے منت مانی کہ اے رب الافواج! اگر تو اپنی لونڈی کے دکھ پر نظر کرے اور مجھے بیٹا عطا کرے تو میں اسے زندگی بھر کے لیے تیرے حضور وقف کر دوں گی اور اس کے سر پر کبھی استرا نہ پھرے گا۔

1Sa 1 12 And it came to pass as she continued praying before the LORD that Eli marked her mouth

  • English: As Hannah continued her silent, intense prayer, Eli observed the movement of her lips.

  • Urdu: جب وہ دیر تک خداوند کے سامنے دعا کرتی رہی تو عیلی کاہن اس کے منہ کو غور سے دیکھنے لگا۔

1Sa 1 13 Now Hannah she spake in her heart only her lips moved but her voice was not heard therefore Eli thought she had been drunken

  • English: Because Hannah was praying silently in her heart and only her lips were moving, Eli mistakenly thought she was intoxicated.

  • Urdu: چونکہ حنا دل ہی دل میں دعا کر رہی تھی اور صرف اس کے ہونٹ ہل رہے تھے مگر آواز سنائی نہیں دیتی تھی اس لیے عیلی نے سمجھا کہ وہ نشے میں ہے۔
