2 Kings 9:29

Verse: And in the eleventh year of Joram the son of Ahab began Ahaziah to reign over Judah

  • English Explanation: This verse provides a chronological marker, establishing the timeline of Ahaziah’s reign in Judah relative to the house of Ahab in Israel.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ آیت تاریخ کا تعین کرتی ہے کہ جب اخی اب کے بیٹے یورام کی بادشاہی کا گیارہواں سال تھا تب اخزیاہ نے یہوداہ پر حکومت شروع کی۔

2 Kings 9:30

Verse: And when Jehu was come to Jezreel Jezebel heard of it and she painted her face and tired her head and looked out at a window

  • English Explanation: Jezebel, knowing her end was near, prepared herself with makeup and finery. This was likely a final display of royal defiance and vanity rather than an attempt to seduce Jehu.

  • Urdu Explanation: جب ایہو یزرعیل پہنچا تو ایزبل نے اپنی آنکھوں میں سرمہ لگایا اور اپنے سر کو سنوارا اور کھڑکی سے باہر دیکھنے لگی۔ یہ اس کے تکبر اور آخری دم تک ہار نہ ماننے کی علامت تھی۔

2 Kings 9:31

Verse: And as Jehu entered in at the gate she said Had Zimri peace who slew his master

  • English Explanation: Jezebel mocks Jehu by comparing him to Zimri, a previous usurper who reigned only seven days. She is questioning if Jehu expects to have peace after murdering his king.

  • Urdu Explanation: جیسے ہی ایہو پھاٹک سے داخل ہوا ایزبل نے اسے طعنہ دیا اور اسے “زمری” کہا جس نے اپنے مالک کو قتل کیا تھا۔ وہ اسے یاد دلا رہی تھی کہ غداروں کا انجام اچھا نہیں ہوتا۔

2 Kings 9:32

Verse: And he lifted up his face to the window and said Who is on my side who And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs

  • English Explanation: Jehu ignores her taunts and calls for loyalists. Even Jezebel’s own attendants (eunuchs) were ready to betray her, showing she had lost all real power.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایہو نے کھڑکی کی طرف دیکھ کر پکارا کہ “میری طرف کون ہے؟” تب دو تین خواجہ سراؤں نے باہر جھانکا۔ اس سے ظاہر ہوتا ہے کہ اس کے اپنے خادم بھی اس کے خلاف ہو چکے تھے۔

2 Kings 9:33

Verse: And he said Throw her down So they threw her down and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall and on the horses and he trode her under foot

  • English Explanation: The execution is brutal. She is thrown from the window, crushed by horses, and left in the street—a violent end for a queen who promoted idolatry and violence.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایہو کے حکم پر ان خادموں نے اسے نیچے پھینک دیا۔ اس کا خون دیواروں اور گھوڑوں پر چھڑکا گیا اور ایہو نے اسے اپنے گھوڑوں کے پیروں تلے روند ڈالا۔

2 Kings 9:34

Verse: And when he was come in he did eat and drink and said Go see now this cursed woman and bury her for she is a king’s daughter

  • English Explanation: After eating, Jehu shows a small measure of respect for her royal lineage by ordering her burial, despite calling her “cursed.”

  • Urdu Explanation: ایہو نے کھانا کھانے کے بعد حکم دیا کہ اس “لعنتی عورت” کو دفن کر دیا جائے کیونکہ وہ ایک بادشاہ کی بیٹی تھی۔

2 Kings 9:35

Verse: And they went to bury her but they found no more of her than the skull and the feet and the palms of her hands

  • English Explanation: By the time they went to bury her, stray dogs had eaten her body, leaving only the extremities. This literally fulfilled Elijah’s prophecy.

  • Urdu Explanation: جب وہ اسے دفن کرنے گئے تو انہیں کھوپڑی، پاؤں اور ہاتھوں کی ہتھیلیوں کے سوا کچھ نہ ملا۔ کتوں نے باقی جسم کھا لیا تھا۔

2 Kings 9:36

Verse: Wherefore they came again and told him And he said This is the word of the LORD which he spake by his servant Elijah the Tishbite saying In the portion of Jezreel shall dogs eat the flesh of Jezebel

  • English Explanation: Jehu recognizes this as the fulfillment of God’s word spoken through Elijah years prior. It confirms that God’s judgments are precise.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایہو نے کہا کہ یہ خدا کا وہی کلام ہے جو اس نے اپنے بندے ایلیاہ کے ذریعے فرمایا تھا کہ یزرعیل کے قطعہ زمین میں کتے ایزبل کا گوشت کھائیں گے۔

2 Kings 9:37

Verse: And the carcase of Jezebel shall be as dung upon the face of the field in the portion of Jezreel so that they shall not say This is Jezebel

  • English Explanation: Her remains were scattered and unrecognizable, ensuring there would be no monument or tomb to honor the wicked queen.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایزبل کی لاش کھیت میں گوبر کی مانند بکھر گئی تاکہ کوئی یہ نہ کہہ سکے کہ “یہ ایزبل ہے”۔ اس کا نام و نشان مٹ گیا۔

Chapter 10

2 Kings 10:1

Verse: And Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria And Jehu wrote letters and sent to Samaria unto the rulers of Jezreel to the elders and to them that brought up Ahab’s children saying

  • English Explanation: Jehu extends his purge to Ahab’s seventy sons. He challenges the leaders of Samaria who were protecting the royal offspring.

  • Urdu Explanation: اخی اب کے ستر بیٹے سامریہ میں تھے۔ ایہو نے وہاں کے بزرگوں اور حاکموں کو خط لکھے تاکہ ان کے مستقبل کا فیصلہ کیا جائے۔

2 Kings 10:2–3

Verse: Now as soon as this letter cometh to you … Look even out the best and meetest of your master’s sons and set him on his father’s throne and fight for your master’s house

  • English Explanation: Jehu sarcastically challenges the elders to pick a successor and fight for the dynasty. He is testing their loyalty and courage.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایہو نے انہیں چیلنج کیا کہ اپنے آقا کے بیٹوں میں سے سب سے بہترین کو چن کر تخت پر بٹھاؤ اور میرے خلاف لڑو۔ وہ ان کی ہمت آزما رہا تھا۔

2 Kings 10:4

Verse: But they were exceedingly afraid and said Behold two kings stood not before him how then shall we stand

  • English Explanation: Seeing Jehu’s momentum and the death of two kings (Joram and Ahaziah), the elders realized resistance was futile.

  • Urdu Explanation: وہ بہت ڈر گئے اور کہنے لگے کہ جب دو بادشاہ اس کا مقابلہ نہ کر سکے تو ہم کیسے کریں گے؟

2 Kings 10:5

Verse: And he that was over the house … sent to Jehu saying We are thy servants and will do all that thou shalt bid us we will not make any king do thou that which is good in thine eyes

  • English Explanation: The city leaders surrender completely, offering their total service to Jehu and abandoning the house of Ahab.

  • Urdu Explanation: انہوں نے ایہو کو پیغام بھیجا کہ ہم تیرے خادم ہیں اور وہی کریں گے جو تو کہے گا۔ ہم کسی کو بادشاہ نہیں بنائیں گے۔

2 Kings 10:6–7

Verse: Then he wrote a letter the second time … take ye the heads of the men your master’s sons and come to me to Jezreel by to morrow this time … and they took the king’s sons and slew seventy persons

  • English Explanation: Jehu demands a graphic proof of loyalty: the heads of the seventy sons. The elders comply, slaughtering the princes they once protected.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایہو نے دوسرے خط میں مطالبہ کیا کہ اگر تم میرے ساتھ ہو تو ان ستر شہزادوں کے سر کاٹ کر میرے پاس لاؤ۔ انہوں نے ایسا ہی کیا۔

2 Kings 10:8–10

Verse: … And he said Lay ye them in two heaps at the entering in of the gate … Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD

  • English Explanation: Jehu uses the piles of heads to demonstrate to the people that he is not just a conspirator, but an instrument of God’s word against Ahab.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایہو نے ان سروں کو شہر کے پھاٹک پر ڈھیر کروا دیا اور لوگوں سے کہا کہ یہ سب خدا کے اس کلام کی تکمیل ہے جو اخی اب کے خاندان کے بارے میں کہا گیا تھا۔

2 Kings 10:11

Verse: So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel and all his great men and his kinsfolks and his priests until he left him none remaining

  • English Explanation: Jehu systematically eliminates everyone associated with Ahab’s administration and religious influence in Jezreel.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایہو نے اخی اب کے خاندان کے تمام باقی ماندہ لوگوں، اس کے مقربوں اور کاہنوں کو ختم کر دیا یہاں تک کہ کوئی نہ بچا۔

2 Kings 10:12–14

Verse: … Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah … And he said Take them alive And they took them alive and slew them at the pit of the shearing house even two and forty men

  • English Explanation: On his way to Samaria, Jehu encounters relatives of the Judean king Ahaziah. Because of their alliance with Ahab’s house, they too are executed (42 men).

  • Urdu Explanation: راستے میں ایہو کو شاہِ یہوداہ اخزیاہ کے بھائی ملے جو شاہی خاندان سے ملنے جا رہے تھے۔ ایہو نے ان بیالیس (42) آدمیوں کو بھی قتل کروا دیا۔
