2 Kings 13:24
Verse: So Hazael king of Syria died and Ben-hadad his son reigned in his stead English Explanation: This verse marks a transition of power in Syria. Hazael, a long-time oppressor of Israel, passes away, and his son Ben-hadad III takes the throne. This shift often provided Israel with a window of opportunity to regain strength. Verse: And Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben-hadad the son of Hazael the cities which he had taken out of the hand of Jehoahaz his father by war. Three times did Joash beat him and recovered the cities of Israel English Explanation: King Jehoash of Israel capitalized on the change in Syrian leadership. 2 Kings 14:1
Verse: In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah English Explanation: The narrative shifts to the Southern Kingdom (Judah). Amaziah begins his reign in Jerusalem while Jehoash is still ruling the Northern Kingdom (Israel). Urdu Explanation: یہاں سے ذکر یہوداہ کی بادشاہت کی طرف مڑتا ہے۔ جب اسرائیل میں یہوآس کی بادشاہت کا دوسرا سال تھا، تو امصیاہ یروشلم میں یہوداہ کا بادشاہ بنا۔

Verse: He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem English Explanation: Provides the biographical data for Amaziah: he was 25 at his ascension and ruled for nearly three decades. His mother’s lineage connects him firmly to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Urdu Explanation: امصیاہ پچیس سال کا تھا جب وہ بادشاہ بنا اور اس نے انتیس سال حکومت کی۔ اس کی ماں کا نام یہوعدان تھا جو یروشلم کی رہنے والی تھی۔

Verse: And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD yet not like David his father he did according to all things as Joash his father did English Explanation: Amaziah is characterized as a “good but not great” king. He followed God generally, but unlike King David, he lacked total devotion. He mirrored the pattern of his father, Joash—starting well but eventually faltering. Urdu Explanation: امصیاہ نے خدا کی نظر میں وہی کیا جو درست تھا، لیکن وہ داؤد کی مانند مکمل طور پر خدا کا وفادار نہ تھا۔ اس نے اپنے باپ یہوآس کی پیروی کی، جس کا انجام اتنا اچھا نہ تھا۔

Verse: Howbeit the high places were not taken away as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places English Explanation: Despite his righteousness, Amaziah failed to centralize worship. The “high places” (unauthorized local altars) remained, allowing the people to continue practices that often drifted into paganism. Urdu Explanation: اس کی نیکی کے باوجود، اونچے مقام ختم نہیں کیے گئے۔ لوگ اب بھی وہاں قربانیاں چڑھاتے تھے، جو کہ خدا کے حکم کے خلاف تھا کیونکہ عبادت صرف ہیکل میں ہونی چاہیے تھی۔

Verse: And it came to pass as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father English Explanation: Once his power was consolidated, Amaziah executed the officials who had assassinated his father, Joash. This was an act of legal justice to secure his throne. Urdu Explanation: جب امصیاہ کی حکومت مضبوط ہو گئی، تو اس نے ان خادموں کو قتل کر دیا جنہوں نے اس کے باپ (یہوآس) کا خون کیا تھا۔ یہ انصاف کا ایک تقاضا تھا۔

Verse: But the children of the murderers he slew not according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses wherein the LORD commanded saying The fathers shall not be put to death for the children nor the children be put to death for the fathers but every man shall be put to death for his own sin English Explanation: In a notable display of biblical adherence, Amaziah spared the families of the conspirators. He followed the Law of Moses ( ), establishing individual responsibility rather than collective punishment. Urdu Explanation: امصیاہ نے قاتلوں کے بچوں کو نہیں مارا۔ اس نے موسیٰ کی شریعت کی پیروی کی جس میں لکھا ہے کہ باپ کے گناہ کا بدلہ بیٹے سے اور بیٹے کا باپ سے نہیں لیا جائے گا۔

Verse: He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand and took Selah by war and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day English Explanation: Amaziah achieved a significant military victory over the Edomites in the Valley of Salt. He captured their stronghold, Selah (likely Petra), and renamed it Joktheel. Urdu Explanation: امصیاہ نے ادوم کے دس ہزار سپاہیوں کو نمک کی وادی میں شکست دی۔ اس نے ان کے اہم شہر “سلاع” کو فتح کیا اور اس کا نام “یقتایل” رکھا۔

Verse: Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu king of Israel saying Come let us look one another in the face English Explanation: Flushed with pride from his victory over Edom, Amaziah challenged King Jehoash of Israel to battle. “Look one another in the face” is a formal idiom for a military confrontation. Urdu Explanation: ادوم پر فتح کے بعد امصیاہ غرور میں آ گیا اور اس نے اسرائیل کے بادشاہ یہوآس کو جنگ کا چیلنج دیا، جس کا مطلب تھا کہ “آؤ ہم میدانِ جنگ میں آمنے سامنے ملیں”۔
2 Kings 14:9
Verse: And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah saying The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon saying Give thy daughter to my son to wife and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon and trode down the thistle English Explanation: Jehoash responded with a mocking parable. He compared Amaziah to a lowly thistle and himself to a mighty cedar tree. He warned that Amaziah’s pride was out of proportion to his actual strength. Urdu Explanation: یہوآس نے ایک مثال کے ذریعے جواب دیا کہ ایک چھوٹے خاردار پودے (امصیاہ) نے ایک عظیم دیودار کے درخت (یہوآس) کو رشتہ بھیجا، لیکن ایک جنگلی جانور نے اس پودے کو کچل دیا۔ یہ امصیاہ کی اوقات یاد دلانے کے لیے تھا۔
2 Kings 14:10
Verse: Thou hast indeed smitten Edom and thine heart hath lifted thee up glory of this and tarry at home for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt that thou shouldest fall even thou and Judah with thee English Explanation: Jehoash explicitly identified Amaziah’s problem: pride. He advised Amaziah to be content with his victory over Edom and stay home, rather than provoking a fight that would destroy him and Judah. Urdu Explanation: یہوآس نے اسے صاف کہا کہ ادوم کو ہرا کر تمہارا دل مغرور ہو گیا ہے۔ اپنے گھر میں رہو اور ایسی مصیبت کو دعوت نہ دو جو تمہاری اور یہوداہ کی تباہی کا باعث بنے۔

Verse: But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh which belongeth to Judah English Explanation: Amaziah ignored the warning. The two kings met in battle at Beth-shemesh, located within the territory of Judah. Urdu Explanation: امصیاہ نے نصیحت نہ مانی۔ چنانچہ اسرائیل کا بادشاہ یہوآس لڑنے کے لیے نکلا اور دونوں بادشاہوں کا مقابلہ بیت شمس کے مقام پر ہوا جو یہوداہ کا علاقہ تھا۔
2 Kings 14:12
Verse: And Judah was put to the worse before Israel and they fled every man to their tents English Explanation: Judah was soundly defeated. The army broke ranks and retreated, with the soldiers fleeing back to their homes in shame. Urdu Explanation: یہوداہ کو اسرائیل کے ہاتھوں شرمناک شکست ہوئی اور ان کے سپاہی اپنی جانیں بچا کر اپنے گھروں کو بھاگ گئے۔
2 Kings 14:13
Verse: And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah at Beth-shemesh and came to Jerusalem and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate four hundred cubits English Explanation: Jehoash captured Amaziah and marched him back to his own capital, Jerusalem. As a sign of dominance, Jehoash demolished 400 cubits (about 600 feet) of Jerusalem’s defensive wall. Urdu Explanation: یہوآس نے امصیاہ کو گرفتار کر لیا اور یروشلم کی دیوار کا ایک بڑا حصہ (چار سو ہاتھ) توڑ دیا، تاکہ شہر دفاعی طور پر کمزور ہو جائے۔

Verse: And he took all the gold and silver and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD and in the treasures of the king’s house and hostages and returned to Samaria English Explanation: Israel plundered the Temple and the royal palace. They took hostages back to Samaria to ensure Judah’s future submission. Urdu Explanation: وہ ہیکل اور بادشاہ کے محل سے تمام سونا، چاندی اور قیمتی برتن لوٹ کر لے گیا اور ضمانت کے طور پر قیدیوں (یرغمالیوں) کو بھی ساتھ لے گیا۔

Verse: Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did and his might and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel English Explanation: A standard concluding formula referring readers to the royal archives of Israel for more details on Jehoash’s military exploits. Verse: And Jehoash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead English Explanation: Jehoash died and was buried in Samaria. His son, Jeroboam II, succeeded him, beginning one of the most prosperous eras for the Northern Kingdom. Urdu Explanation: یہوآس وفات پا گیا اور سامریہ میں دفن ہوا۔ اس کے بعد اس کا بیٹا یربعام دوم تخت نشین ہوا۔
2 Kings 14:17
Verse: And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years English Explanation: Amaziah survived his captor and rival, Jehoash, by fifteen years, though his remaining reign was likely shadowed by his previous defeat. Urdu Explanation: یہوداہ کا بادشاہ امصیاہ، اسرائیل کے بادشاہ یہوآس کی موت کے بعد پندرہ سال تک زندہ رہا۔
2 Kings 14:18

2 Kings 14:19
Verse: Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem and he fled to Lachish but they sent after him to Lachish and slew him there English Explanation: Like his father before him, Amaziah fell victim to a conspiracy. He attempted to escape to the fortress of Lachish, but the assassins pursued and killed him. Urdu Explanation: یروشلم میں امصیاہ کے خلاف سازش ہوئی، وہ اپنی جان بچا کر لکیس بھاگا، لیکن سازشیوں نے وہاں پہنچ کر اسے قتل کر دیا۔
2 Kings 14:20
Verse: And they brought him on horses and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David English Explanation: Despite his ignominious end, Amaziah was given a royal burial. His body was returned to Jerusalem and interred in the City of David. Urdu Explanation: اس کی لاش کو گھوڑوں پر لاد کر لایا گیا اور اسے یروشلم میں داؤد کے شہر میں اس کے باپ دادا کے ساتھ دفن کیا گیا۔
