2 Samuel Chapter 24

2Sa 24:18

  • Verse: And Gad came that day to David and said unto him Go up rear an altar unto the LORD in the threshingfloor of Araunah the Jebusite

2Sa 24:19

  • Verse: And David according to the saying of Gad went up as the LORD commanded

  • English Explanation: David demonstrates immediate obedience. Despite his royal status, he submits to the word of the prophet and the command of God.

  • Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے جاد کے کہنے کے مطابق ویسا ہی کیا جیسا خداوند نے حکم دیا تھا۔ یہ داؤد کی وفاداری اور خدا کے حکم کی تعمیل کو ظاہر کرتا ہے۔

2Sa 24:20

  • Verse: And Araunah looked and saw the king and his servants coming on toward him and Araunah went out and bowed himself before the king on his face upon the ground

  • Urdu Explanation: جب اراوناہ نے بادشاہ اور اس کے خادموں کو اپنی طرف آتے دیکھا تو وہ باہر نکلا اور بادشاہ کے سامنے زمین تک جھک کر سجدہ کیا۔

2Sa 24:21

  • Verse: And Araunah said Wherefore is my lord the king come to his servant And David said To buy the threshingfloor of thee to build an altar unto the LORD that the plague may be stayed from the people

2Sa 24:22

  • Verse: And Araunah said unto David Let my lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him behold here be oxen for burnt sacrifice and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood

  • English Explanation: Araunah generously offers everything for free—the land, the animals for sacrifice, and the wooden tools for fuel—showing his devotion to the cause.

  • Urdu Explanation: اراوناہ نے داؤد سے کہا کہ بادشاہ جو چاہے لے لے اور قربانی کرے۔ یہاں بیل موجود ہیں اور لکڑی کے لیے کھیتی باڑی کے آلات بھی حاضر ہیں۔

2Sa 24:23

  • Verse: All these things did Araunah as a king give unto the king And Araunah said unto the king The LORD thy God accept thee

  • English Explanation: The text notes Araunah’s kingly generosity. He offers a blessing to David, praying that God will accept David’s sacrifice.

  • Urdu Explanation: اراوناہ نے ایک بادشاہ کی طرح یہ سب کچھ بادشاہ کو دے دیا اور دعا دی کہ خداوند تیرا خدا تجھے قبول کرے۔

2Sa 24:24

  • Verse: And the king said unto Araunah Nay but I will surely buy it of thee at a price neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing So David bought the threshingfloor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver

  • English Explanation: David establishes a profound spiritual principle: sacrifice must involve personal cost. He refuses to offer a gift to God that cost him nothing.

  • Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے جواب دیا کہ نہیں میں اسے قیمت دے کر ہی خریدوں گا۔ میں خدا کو ایسی قربانی نہیں چڑھاؤں گا جس پر میرا کچھ خرچ نہ ہوا ہو۔ چنانچہ داؤد نے وہ جگہ اور بیل چاندی کے پچاس مثقال میں خریدے۔

2Sa 24:25

  • Verse: And David built there an altar unto the LORD and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings So the LORD was intreated for the land and the plague was stayed from Israel

  • English Explanation: After the sacrifice, God answers the prayer for the land. The plague stops, demonstrating the restoration of the relationship between God and His people.

1Ki 1:1

  • Urdu Explanation: اب داؤد بادشاہ بوڑھا اور ضعیف ہو گیا تھا۔ اسے کپڑوں سے ڈھانپا جاتا لیکن اس کے بدن میں حرارت پیدا نہ ہوتی تھی۔ یہ اس کے آخری ایام کا ذکر ہے۔

1Ki 1:2

  • Verse: Wherefore his servants said unto him Let there be sought for my lord the king a young virgin and let her stand before the king and let her cherish him and let her lie in thy bosom that my lord the king may get heat

  • English Explanation: His advisors suggest a common ancient medical practice: having a young woman provide natural warmth through physical proximity.

  • Urdu Explanation: اس کے خادموں نے مشورہ دیا کہ بادشاہ کے لیے ایک جوان کنواری ڈھونڈی جائے جو ان کی دیکھ بھال کرے اور ان کے ساتھ لیٹے تاکہ بادشاہ کو گرمی پہنچ سکے۔

1Ki 1:3

  • Verse: So they sought for a fair damsel throughout all the coasts of Israel and found Abishag a Shunammite and brought her to the king

  • English Explanation: A search is conducted throughout Israel, and they select Abishag for her beauty and health to serve the king.

  • Urdu Explanation: انہوں نے پورے اسرائیل میں ایک خوبصورت لڑکی کی تلاش کی اور ابیشگ شونیمی کو پا کر اسے بادشاہ کے پاس لے آئے۔

1Ki 1:4

  • Verse: And the damsel was very fair and cherished the king and ministered to him but the king knew her not

  • English Explanation: Abishag serves and cares for David, but the text clarifies that there was no sexual intimacy, emphasizing David’s physical decline.

  • Urdu Explanation: وہ لڑکی بہت خوبصورت تھی اور بادشاہ کی خدمت اور دیکھ بھال کرتی تھی لیکن بادشاہ اس کے قریب نہ گیا۔

1Ki 1:5

  • Verse: Then Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself saying I will be king and he prepared him chariots and horsemen and fifty men to run before him

  • English Explanation: Taking advantage of David’s weakness, his son Adonijah attempts to seize the throne by displaying royal pomp and gaining public attention.

  • Urdu Explanation: تب ہجیت کے بیٹے ادونیاہ نے خود کو بڑا بنا کر کہا کہ میں بادشاہ بنوں گا اور اس نے اپنے لیے رتھ سوار اور پچاس آدمی تیار کیے۔

1Ki 1:6

  • Verse: And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying Why hast thou done so and he also was a very goodly man and his mother bare him after Absalom

  • English Explanation: Adonijah was handsome and spoiled; David had never disciplined him or questioned his actions, leading to his current arrogance.

  • Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے اسے کبھی ٹوکا نہیں تھا کہ تم ایسا کیوں کرتے ہو۔ وہ بہت خوبصورت تھا اور ابشلوم کے بعد پیدا ہوا تھا۔

1Ki 1:7

  • Verse: And he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest and they following Adonijah helped him

  • English Explanation: Adonijah gathers powerful allies, including the military commander Joab and the priest Abiathar, to support his claim to the throne.

  • Urdu Explanation: اس نے یوآب اور ابیاتر کاہن سے مشورہ کیا اور ان دونوں نے ادونیاہ کی حمایت کی اور اس کے ساتھ مل گئے۔

1Ki 1:8

  • Verse: But Zadok the priest and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada and Nathan the prophet and Shimei and Rei and the mighty men which belonged to David were not with Adonijah

1Ki 1:9

  • Verse: And Adonijah slew sheep and oxen and fat cattle by the stone of Zoheleth which is by En-rogel and called all his brethren the king’s sons and all the men of Judah the king’s servants

1Ki 1:10

  • Verse: But Nathan the prophet and Benaiah and the mighty men and Solomon his brother he called not

1Ki 1:11

  • Verse: Wherefore Nathan spake unto Bath-sheba the mother of Solomon saying Hast thou not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith doth reign and David our lord knoweth it not

1Ki 1:12

  • Verse: Now therefore come let me I pray thee give thee counsel that thou mayest save thine own life and the life of thy son Solomon
