2 Kings 6:31

Verse: Then he said God do so and more also to me if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat shall stand on him this day

  • English Explanation: King Jehoram, overwhelmed by the horrific famine in Samaria, blames the Prophet Elisha. In a fit of rage, he swears a violent oath to behead Elisha, holding the man of God responsible for the national suffering instead of repenting for the nation’s sins.

  • Urdu Explanation: شاہِ اسرائیل سامریہ کے خوفناک قحط سے مایوس ہو کر الیشع نبی پر غصہ ہوا اور قسم کھائی کہ وہ آج کے دن الیشع کا سر قلم کر دے گا۔ اس نے اپنی بدحالی کا ذمہ دار خدا کے بندے کو ٹھہرایا۔

2 Kings 6:32

Verse: But Elisha sat in his house and the elders sat with him and the king sent a man from before him but ere the messenger came to him he said to the elders See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head look when the messenger cometh shut the door and hold him fast at the door is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him

  • English Explanation: Elisha, through divine insight, knows the king’s plan. He identifies the king as a “son of a murderer” (referring to Ahab) and instructs the elders to block the door against the king’s executioner, knowing the king himself is following close behind.

  • Urdu Explanation: الیشع اپنے گھر میں بزرگوں کے ساتھ بیٹھا تھا۔ اسے خدا کی طرف سے معلوم ہو گیا کہ بادشاہ نے اسے مارنے کے لیے بندہ بھیجا ہے۔ اس نے بزرگوں سے کہا کہ دروازہ بند رکھیں کیونکہ بادشاہ خود اس کے پیچھے آ رہا ہے۔

2 Kings 6:33

Verse: And while he yet talked with them behold the messenger came down unto him and he said Behold this evil is of the LORD what should I wait for the LORD any longer

  • English Explanation: The king (or his messenger) expresses total despair. He acknowledges that the calamity is from the Lord but concludes that waiting for God’s help is useless, showing his lack of faith and patience.

  • Urdu Explanation: جب وہ بات کر ہی رہے تھے تو پیغام لانے والا پہنچ گیا۔ بادشاہ نے مایوسی میں کہا کہ یہ مصیبت خدا کی طرف سے ہے، اب میں مزید خدا کا انتظار کیوں کروں؟

2 Kings 7:1

Verse: Then Elisha said Hear ye the word of the LORD Thus saith the LORD To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel in the gate of Samaria

  • English Explanation: In response to the king’s despair, Elisha prophesies an immediate miracle. He declares that within 24 hours, the extreme famine will end, and food prices will drop drastically at the city gates.

  • Urdu Explanation: الیشع نے نبوت کی کہ کل اسی وقت سامریہ کے پھاٹک پر آٹا اور جو اتنے سستے بکیں گے کہ قحط کا نام و نشان مٹ جائے گا۔ یہ خدا کی طرف سے معجزے کا وعدہ تھا۔

2 Kings 7:2

Verse: Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said Behold if the LORD would make windows in heaven might this thing be And he said Behold thou shalt see it with thine eyes but shalt not eat thereof

  • English Explanation: A high-ranking officer mocks the prophecy, doubting God’s power even if He opened “windows in heaven.” Elisha responds that the officer will see the abundance but will not live to taste it due to his unbelief.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایک شاہی افسر نے شک کیا اور مذاق اڑایا کہ کیا آسمان سے کھڑکیاں کھل جائیں گی؟ الیشع نے کہا کہ تو اسے اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھے گا تو سہی مگر اس میں سے کچھ کھا نہ سکے گا۔

2 Kings 7:3

Verse: And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate and they said one to another Why sit we here until we die

  • English Explanation: Four lepers, social outcasts at the city gate, face a dilemma. They realize that staying put means certain death by starvation.

  • Urdu Explanation: شہر کے دروازے پر چار کوڑھی بیٹھے تھے۔ انہوں نے آپس میں کہا کہ ہم یہاں بیٹھے بیٹھے موت کا انتظار کیوں کریں؟

2 Kings 7:4

Verse: If we say We will enter into the city then the famine is in the city and we shall die there and if we sit still here we die also Now therefore come and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians if they save us alive we shall live and if they kill us we shall but die

  • English Explanation: The lepers decide to surrender to the Syrian army. They reason that they have nothing to lose: if the Syrians kill them, they die; if they are spared, they live.

  • Urdu Explanation: انہوں نے فیصلہ کیا کہ اگر وہ شہر میں گئے تو وہاں قحط ہے، اگر یہاں رہے تو بھی مر جائیں گے۔ اس لیے بہتر ہے کہ وہ دشمن (شامیوں) کے لشکر میں چلے جائیں۔

Verse: And they rose up in the twilight to go unto the camp of the Syrians and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria behold there was no man there

  • English Explanation: As the lepers approach the Syrian camp at dusk, they are shocked to find it completely deserted.

  • Urdu Explanation: وہ شام کے وقت شامیوں کے خیموں کی طرف روانہ ہوئے، لیکن جب وہاں پہنچے تو دیکھا کہ وہاں کوئی بھی انسان موجود نہیں تھا۔

Verse: For the Lord had made the host of the Syrians to hear a noise of chariots and a noise of horses even the noise of a great host and they said one to another Lo the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to come upon us

  • English Explanation: God intervened by creating a supernatural sound of a massive army. The Syrians panicked, believing Israel had hired foreign kings to attack them.

  • Urdu Explanation: خدا نے شامیوں کے لشکر کو رتھوں اور گھوڑوں کے بھاگنے کی آوازیں سنوائیں، جس سے وہ ڈر گئے کہ اسرائیل نے دوسرے بادشاہوں کو ان پر حملہ کرنے کے لیے کرائے پر بلایا ہے۔

2 Kings 7:7

Verse: Wherefore they arose and fled in the twilight and left their tents and their horses and their asses even the camp as it was and fled for their life

  • English Explanation: Terror-stricken, the Syrians abandoned everything—their animals, supplies, and wealth—and fled on foot to save their lives.

  • Urdu Explanation: وہ خوف کے مارے اپنے خیمے، گھوڑے اور گدھے چھوڑ کر اپنی جانیں بچانے کے لیے وہاں سے بھاگ کھڑے ہوئے۔

2 Kings 7:8

Verse: And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp they went into one tent and did eat and drink and carried thence silver and gold and raiment and went and hid it and came again and entered into another tent and carried thence also and went and hid it

  • English Explanation: The lepers find an abundance of food and riches. After eating their fill, they begin looting and hiding silver and gold.

  • Urdu Explanation: کوڑھیوں نے خیموں میں جا کر خوب کھایا پیا اور سونا چاندی اور کپڑے لے کر چھپانے لگے۔

Verse: Then they said one to another We do not well this day is a day of good tidings and we hold our peace if we tarry till the morning light some mischief will come upon us now therefore come that we may go and tell the king’s household

  • English Explanation: Their conscience strikes them. They realize it is wrong to keep this “good news” to themselves while the city starves. They decide to report the find to the palace.

  • Urdu Explanation: پھر انہیں احساس ہوا کہ وہ غلط کر رہے ہیں۔ یہ خوشخبری کا دن ہے اور انہیں چاہیے کہ وہ جا کر بادشاہ کے گھرانے کو بتائیں تاکہ وہ بھی قحط سے بچ سکیں۔

2 Kings 7:10

Verse: So they came and called unto the porter of the city and they told them saying We came to the camp of the Syrians and behold there was no man there neither voice of man but horses tied and asses tied and the tents as they were

  • English Explanation: The lepers reach the city gate and inform the guards that the Syrian camp is empty and full of abandoned supplies.

  • Urdu Explanation: وہ شہر واپس آئے اور دربان کو بتایا کہ شامیوں کے خیمے خالی پڑے ہیں اور وہاں صرف جانور بندھے ہوئے ہیں۔

Verse: And he called the porters and they told it to the king’s house within

  • English Explanation: The news is quickly passed from the gatekeepers to the royal palace.

  • Urdu Explanation: دربان نے پکار کر یہ خبر بادشاہ کے محل تک پہنچا دی۔

2 Kings 7:12

Verse: And the king arose in the night and said unto his servants I will now shew you what the Syrians have done to us They know that we be hungry therefore are they gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field saying When they come out of the city we shall catch them alive and get into the city

  • English Explanation: The king is skeptical, suspecting a Syrian trap. He thinks they are hiding in the fields to ambush the Israelites once they leave the city for food.

  • Urdu Explanation: بادشاہ رات کو اٹھا مگر اسے شک ہوا کہ یہ شامیوں کی چال ہے تاکہ وہ ہمیں باہر نکال کر پکڑ لیں اور شہر پر قبضہ کر لیں۔

2 Kings 7:13

Verse: And one of his servants answered and said Let some take I pray thee five of the horses that remain which are left in the city behold they are as all the multitude of Israel that are left in it behold I say they are even as all the multitude of the Israelites that are consumed and let us send and see

  • English Explanation: A wise servant suggests a compromise: send a small scouting party with the few remaining horses. If they die, they are no worse off than the rest of the starving population.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایک خادم نے مشورہ دیا کہ چند گھوڑوں کے ساتھ کچھ لوگ بھیجے جائیں تاکہ وہ جا کر دیکھیں کہ حقیقت کیا ہے۔ اگر وہ مارے گئے تو بھی ویسے ہی مرنا ہے جیسے باقی شہر مر رہا ہے۔
