2 Kings 7:14
Verse: They took therefore two chariot horses and the king sent after the host of the Syrians saying Go and see English Explanation: After the lepers reported that the Syrian army had fled, the King of Israel remained skeptical, fearing an ambush. He sent a small scouting party with the remaining horses to verify the news. Urdu Explanation: جب کوڑھیوں نے شامی فوج کے فرار ہونے کی خبر دی تو اسرائیل کا بادشاہ ڈر گیا کہ کہیں یہ کوئی چال نہ ہو۔ اس نے دو رتھ کے گھوڑے اور سوار بھیجے تاکہ وہ جا کر حالات کی تصدیق کریں۔
2 Kings 7:15
Verse: And they went after them unto Jordan and lo all the way was full of garments and vessels which the Syrians had cast away in their haste And the messengers returned and told the king English Explanation: The scouts followed the trail to the Jordan River. They found the path littered with clothing and equipment discarded by the Syrians in their panicked flight. The scouts returned to confirm the miracle. Urdu Explanation: قاصد دریائے یردن تک گئے۔ انہوں نے دیکھا کہ سارا راستہ کپڑوں اور برتنوں سے بھرا پڑا تھا جو شامیوں نے افراتفری میں بھاگتے ہوئے پھینک دیے تھے۔ قاصدوں نے واپس آکر بادشاہ کو خوشخبری سنائی۔
2 Kings 7:16
Verse: And the people went out and spoiled the tents of the Syrians So a measure of fine flour was sold for a shekel and two measures of barley for a shekel according to the word of the LORD English Explanation: The starving citizens of Samaria rushed out to plunder the abandoned Syrian camp. This sudden abundance of food caused prices to drop exactly as Elisha had prophesied the previous day. Urdu Explanation: بھوکی عوام شہر سے باہر نکل آئی اور شامیوں کے خیموں کو لوٹ لیا۔ اس کثرت کی وجہ سے بہترین آٹا اور جَو نہایت سستے داموں بکنے لگے، بالکل ویسے ہی جیسے خدا نے الیشع کی معرفت فرمایا تھا۔
2 Kings 7:17
Verse: And the king appointed the lord on whose hand he leaned to have the charge of the gate and the people trode upon him in the gate and he died as the man of God had said who spake when the king came down to him English Explanation: The officer who had doubted Elisha’s prophecy was put in charge of the gate. In the desperate rush for food, the crowd trampled him to death, fulfilling the warning that he would see the food but not eat it. Urdu Explanation: وہ درباری جس نے خدا کی قدرت پر شک کیا تھا، اسے شہر کے پھاٹک کی نگرانی پر مامور کیا گیا۔ اناج کے لیے بے تاب ہجوم نے اسے پاؤں تلے کچل دیا اور وہ مر گیا، جیسا کہ مردِ خدا نے پیشگوئی کی تھی۔
2 Kings 7:18
Verse: And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king saying Two measures of barley for a shekel and a measure of fine flour for a shekel shall be to morrow about this time in the gate of Samaria English Explanation: This verse reiterates the accuracy of Elisha’s prophecy. Despite the impossible circumstances of the siege, God’s word regarding the price of grain was fulfilled to the letter. Urdu Explanation: یہ سب کچھ مردِ خدا کی اس بات کے مطابق ہوا جو اس نے بادشاہ سے کہی تھی کہ کل اسی وقت سامریہ کے پھاٹک پر سستا اناج دستیاب ہوگا۔
2 Kings 7:19
Verse: And that lord answered the man of God and said Now behold if the LORD should make windows in heaven might such a thing be And he said Behold thou shalt see it with thine eyes but shalt not eat thereof English Explanation: This recalls the officer’s cynical response to God’s promise. He believed even opening the “windows of heaven” couldn’t provide such plenty. Elisha’s judgment was specific: sight without participation. Urdu Explanation: اس درباری نے طنزاً کہا تھا کہ کیا آسمان کے دریچے کھلنے سے ایسا ہو سکتا ہے؟ الیشع نے جواب دیا تھا کہ تو اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھے گا تو سہی مگر اس میں سے کھا نہ سکے گا۔
2 Kings 7:20
Verse: And so it fell out unto him for the people trode upon him in the gate and he died English Explanation: The chapter concludes by confirming the fate of the skeptic. God’s promises are for the faithful, and His warnings to the unbelieving are equally certain. Urdu Explanation: اور اس کے ساتھ ویسا ہی ہوا؛ لوگوں نے اسے پھاٹک میں کچل ڈالا اور وہ اپنی بدوں پرستی اور شک کی وجہ سے ہلاک ہو گیا۔
2 Kings 8:1
Verse: Then spake Elisha unto the woman whose son he had restored to life saying Arise and go thou and thine household and sojourn wheresoever thou canst sojourn for the LORD hath called for a famine and it shall also come upon the land seven years English Explanation: Elisha warns the Shunammite woman of a coming seven-year famine, advising her to move her family for safety. This shows God’s providential care for those who serve His prophets. Urdu Explanation: الیشع نے اس عورت کو جس کے بیٹے کو اس نے زندہ کیا تھا، خبردار کیا کہ ملک میں سات سال کا کال آنے والا ہے، اس لیے وہ اپنے خاندان سمیت کہیں اور چلی جائے۔
2 Kings 8:2
Verse: And the woman arose and did after the saying of the man of God and she went with her household and sojourned in the land of the Philistines seven years English Explanation: Demonstrating faith, the woman obeyed Elisha immediately. She lived in the land of the Philistines for the duration of the famine. Urdu Explanation: عورت نے مردِ خدا کی بات مانی اور اپنے گھرانے کے ساتھ فلسطینیوں کے ملک میں سات سال تک قیام کیا۔
2 Kings 8:3
Verse: And it came to pass at the seven years’ end that the woman returned out of the land of the Philistines and she went forth to cry unto the king for her house and for her land English Explanation: After the famine ended, she returned to Israel only to find her property occupied or seized. She went to the King to appeal for the restoration of her home. Urdu Explanation: سات سال بعد جب وہ واپس آئی تو اس نے اپنے گھر اور زمین کی واپسی کے لیے بادشاہ سے فریاد کرنے کا ارادہ کیا۔
2 Kings 8:4
Verse: And the king talked with Gehazi the servant of the man of God saying Tell me I pray thee all the great things that Elisha hath done English Explanation: In a moment of divine timing, the King was interviewing Gehazi about Elisha’s miracles just as the woman arrived. Urdu Explanation: عین اسی وقت بادشاہ الیشع کے خادم جیہزی سے الیشع کے معجزات کے بارے میں پوچھ رہا تھا۔
2 Kings 8:5
Verse: And it came to pass as he was telling the king how he had restored a dead body to life that behold the woman whose son he had restored to life cried to the king for her house and for her land And Gehazi said My lord O king this is the woman and this is her son whom Elisha restored to life English Explanation: As Gehazi described the resurrection of the Shunammite’s son, she appeared before the King. Gehazi identified her, providing immediate living proof of Elisha’s power. Urdu Explanation: جب جیہزی بادشاہ کو لڑکے کے زندہ ہونے کا قصہ سنا رہا تھا، وہی عورت وہاں پہنچ گئی۔ جیہزی نے فوراً اسے پہچان لیا اور بادشاہ کو بتایا کہ یہی وہ عورت اور اس کا بیٹا ہے۔
2 Kings 8:6
Verse: And when the king asked the woman she told him So the king appointed unto her a certain officer saying Restore all that was hers and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land even until now English Explanation: Impressed by the story, the King ordered the full restoration of her property, including all the lost income (fruits) from the past seven years. Urdu Explanation: بادشاہ نے عورت سے تصدیق کی اور پھر حکم دیا کہ اس کی تمام زمین اور سات سالوں کی تمام پیداوار اسے واپس کر دی جائے۔
2 Kings 8:7
Verse: And Elisha came to Damascus and Ben-hadad the king of Syria was sick and it was told him saying The man of God is come hither English Explanation: Elisha travels to the enemy capital, Damascus. King Ben-hadad, being ill, recognizes Elisha’s spiritual authority despite their national conflicts. Urdu Explanation: الیشع دمشق گیا جہاں شام کا بادشاہ بن ہدد بیمار تھا۔ اسے خبر ملی کہ مردِ خدا یہاں آیا ہے۔
2 Kings 8:8
Verse: And the king said unto Hazael Take a present in thine hand and go meet the man of God and enquire of the LORD by him saying Shall I recover of this disease English Explanation: Ben-hadad sends his official, Hazael, to ask Elisha if he will survive his illness. Urdu Explanation: بادشاہ نے حزائیل کو تحفے دے کر الیشع کے پاس بھیجا تاکہ وہ دریافت کرے کہ آیا وہ اس بیماری سے شفا پائے گا یا نہیں۔
2 Kings 8:9
Verse: So Hazael went to meet him and took a present with him even of every good thing of Damascus forty camels’ burden and came and stood before him and said Thy son Ben-hadad king of Syria hath sent me to thee saying Shall I recover of this disease English Explanation: Hazael approaches Elisha with immense wealth—forty camel loads of gifts—and presents the King’s question with formal respect. Urdu Explanation: حزائیل چالیس اونٹوں پر لدے ہوئے بیش قیمت تحائف لے کر الیشع کے پاس گیا اور بادشاہ کا سوال دہرایا۔
2 Kings 8:10
Verse: And Elisha said unto him Go say unto him Thou mayest certainly recover howbeit the LORD hath shewed me that he shall surely die English Explanation: A complex prophecy: Elisha notes that the disease itself is not fatal, but the King will die by other means (assassination by Hazael). Urdu Explanation: الیشع نے کہا کہ جا کر کہہ دے کہ تو شفا پا سکتا ہے، مگر خداوند نے مجھ پر ظاہر کیا ہے کہ وہ یقیناً مر جائے گا (یعنی بیماری سے نہیں بلکہ کسی اور وجہ سے)۔
2 Kings 8:11
Verse: And he settled his countenance stedfastly until he was ashamed and the man of God wept English Explanation: Elisha stares intensely at Hazael until Hazael is uncomfortable. The prophet then begins to weep, foreseeing the horror Hazael will bring. Urdu Explanation: الیشع حزائیل کے چہرے کو ٹکٹکی باندھ کر دیکھتا رہا یہاں تک کہ حزائیل شرما گیا، اور پھر مردِ خدا رونے لگا۔
2 Kings 8:12
Verse: And Hazael said Why weepeth my lord And he answered Because I know the evil that thou wilt do unto the children of Israel their strong holds wilt thou set on fire and their young men wilt thou slay with the sword and wilt dash their children and rip up their women with child English Explanation: Elisha explains his tears: he sees a vision of Hazael’s future cruelty against Israel—burning cities, murdering youth, and committing horrific atrocities against women and children. Urdu Explanation: جب حزائیل نے رونے کی وجہ پوچھی تو الیشع نے بتایا کہ وہ ان مظالم کو دیکھ رہا ہے جو حزائیل بنی اسرائیل پر ڈھائے گا، جیسے شہروں کو جلانا اور عورتوں اور بچوں کا قتلِ عام کرنا۔
