2 Samuel 12:12
Verse: For thou didst it secretly but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun English Explanation: God addresses David’s hypocrisy. While David tried to hide his adultery and murder in the shadows, God’s judgment would be public, ensuring the entire nation witnessed the fallout. Urdu Explanation: اللہ تعالیٰ داؤد علیہ السلام سے فرماتا ہے کہ تم نے یہ گناہ چھپ کر کیا لیکن اب اس کی سزا پورے اسرائیل کے سامنے اور دن کی روشنی میں دی جائے گی۔ یہ خدا کے انصاف کا اظہار ہے۔
2 Samuel 12:13
Verse: And David said unto Nathan I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David The LORD also hath put away thy sin thou shalt not die English Explanation: David’s immediate and sincere confession is met with immediate grace. Though the law demanded death for adultery and murder, God spares David’s life, demonstrating the power of true repentance. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے اعتراف کیا کہ “میں نے خداوند کا گناہ کیا ہے”۔ ناتن نبی نے جواب دیا کہ اللہ نے تمہارا گناہ معاف کر دیا ہے اور تمہیں موت نہیں آئے گی۔ یہ توبہ کی قبولیت کا مقام ہے۔
2 Samuel 12:14
Verse: Howbeit because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die English Explanation: Forgiveness does not always mean the removal of earthly consequences. Because David’s actions brought dishonor to God’s name among pagans, the child born of the illicit union would die. Urdu Explanation: اگرچہ گناہ معاف ہوا، لیکن اس کام سے دشمنوں کو خدا کی توہین کا موقع ملا۔ اس لیے سزا کے طور پر وہ بچہ جو پیدا ہوا ہے، ضرور مر جائے گا۔
2 Samuel 12:15–17
Verses: …And the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife bare unto David and it was very sick… English Explanation: David enters a period of deep intercession, fasting and lying on the ground. He refuses comfort from his elders, hoping God might relent and spare the child. Urdu Explanation: خدا نے بچے کو بیمار کر دیا۔ داؤد نے روزے رکھے اور زمین پر لیٹ کر خدا سے گریہ و زاری کی۔ انہوں نے بزرگوں کی تسلی ماننے سے انکار کر دیا تاکہ خدا کا رحم حاصل کر سکیں۔
2 Samuel 12:18–19
Verses: And it came to pass on the seventh day that the child died… English Explanation: The child dies on the seventh day. David’s servants are afraid to tell him, fearing he might harm himself, but David perceives the truth from their whispers. Urdu Explanation: ساتویں دن بچہ مر گیا۔ ملازم ڈر رہے تھے کہ داؤد کو کیسے بتائیں، لیکن داؤد نے ان کی سرگوشیوں سے بھانپ لیا کہ بچہ فوت ہو چکا ہے۔
2 Samuel 12:20–23
Verses: Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed himself… I shall go to him but he shall not return to me English Explanation: David’s reaction surprises his court. Once the judgment is finalized, he accepts God’s will, worships, and eats. He utters a profound theological truth: he cannot bring the child back, but he will join the child in eternity. Urdu Explanation: بچے کی موت کے بعد داؤد اٹھے، غسل کیا اور عبادت کی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جب تک بچہ زندہ تھا میں نے دعا کی کہ شاید خدا رحم کرے، لیکن اب وہ مر چکا ہے، میں اس کے پاس جاؤں گا لیکن وہ میرے پاس واپس نہیں آ سکتا۔
2 Samuel 12:24–25
Verses: And David comforted Bath-sheba his wife… and he called his name Solomon… and he called his name Jedidiah… English Explanation: Out of the ashes of tragedy, God provides hope. Solomon is born, symbolizing peace. God gives him the name “Jedidiah” (Beloved of the Lord), showing that His favor has returned to David’s household. Urdu Explanation: داؤد نے اپنی بیوی بت سبع کو تسلی دی۔ ان کے ہاں سلیمان پیدا ہوئے جن سے خدا نے محبت کی اور ناتن نبی کے ذریعے ان کا نام “یدیدیاہ” رکھا گیا، جس کا مطلب ہے “خدا کا محبوب”۔
2 Samuel 12:26–31
Verses: And Joab fought against Rabbah… and it was set on David’s head… English Explanation: These verses show David returning to his royal duties. He leads the final conquest of Rabbah, taking the massive golden crown of the Ammonite king. It marks a return to military victory, though the shadow of his sin remains. Chapter 13: The Root of Bitter Trouble
2 Samuel 13:1–2
Verses: …Absalom the son of David had a fair sister whose name was Tamar and Amnon the son of David loved her… English Explanation: The narrative shifts to David’s children. Amnon (David’s eldest) develops an obsessive, sinful lust for his half-sister Tamar. This begins the fulfillment of the prophecy that “the sword shall never depart from thy house.” Urdu Explanation: یہاں سے داؤد کے گھرانے کے اندرونی مسائل شروع ہوتے ہیں۔ امنون کو اپنی سوتیلی بہن تمر سے عشق (ہوس) ہو گیا، جس کی وجہ سے وہ بیمار رہنے لگا۔

English Explanation: Amnon’s cousin Jonadab, described as “very subtil” (cunning), notices Amnon’s physical decline. He encourages Amnon to voice his illicit desires, setting the stage for a tragic betrayal.
