Daniel 2:26

Verse: The king answered and said to Daniel whose name was Belteshazzar Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen and the interpretation thereof

  • English Explanation: King Nebuchadnezzar directly challenges Daniel (referred to by his Babylonian name, Belteshazzar). The king is skeptical because all his wise men, astrologers, and magicians failed to tell him his dream. Daniel 2:27

Verse: Daniel answered in the presence of the king and said The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men the astrologers the magicians the soothsayers shew unto the king

He states clearly that no human wisdom, occult power, or earthly science (represented by the magicians and astrologers) can solve the king’s mystery. By doing this, Daniel protects his own humility and sets the stage to glorify God.

Daniel 2:28

Verse: But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days Thy dream and the visions of thy head upon thy bed are these

Daniel 2:29

Verse: As for thee O king thy thoughts came into thy mind upon thy bed what should come to pass hereafter and he that revealeth secrets maketh known to thee what shall come to pass

God honored the king’s curiosity about world history by granting him a prophetic dream, and God chose to reveal those hidden secrets through Daniel.

Daniel 2:30

Verse: But as for me this secret is not revealed to me for any wisdom that I have more than any living but for their sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart

Daniel 2:31

Verse: Thou O king sawest and behold a great image This great image whose brightness was excellent stood before thee and the form thereof was terrible

  • English Explanation: Daniel begins describing the actual dream. The king saw a massive, dazzling, and terrifying statue. Its sheer size and brilliance were overwhelming, evoking a sense of dread and awe. This statue represents the sequence of powerful human empires dominating world history.

Daniel 2:32

Verse: This image’s head was of fine gold his breast and his arms of silver his belly and his thighs of brass

  • English Explanation: Daniel describes the upper sections of the statue, which are made of progressively less valuable but harder metals. The head is pure gold, representing the Babylonian Empire. The chest and arms are silver, representing the Medo-Persian Empire. The belly and thighs are bronze (brass), representing the Greek Empire.

Daniel 2:33

Verse: His legs of iron his feet part of iron and part of clay

The feet and toes are a fragile, unstable mixture of iron and baked clay, representing a fragmented, divided world system in the final days.

Daniel 2:34

Verse: Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay and brake them to pieces

  • English Explanation: While the king watched, a supernatural stone—formed without human hands or intervention—struck the statue directly at its weakest point, its feet of iron and clay. The impact was catastrophic, completely shattering the base and causing the entire structure to collapse. This stone represents the supernatural Kingdom of God.

Daniel 2:35

Verse: Then was the iron the clay the brass the silver and the gold broken to pieces together and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors and the wind carried them away that no place was found for them and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain and filled the whole earth

The gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay are ground to dust, blown away by the wind like worthless chaff, leaving no trace behind. Daniel 2:36

Verse: This is the dream and we will tell the interpretation thereof before the king

  • English Explanation: Having accurately described the exact details of the hidden dream, Daniel confidently transitions to explaining what it means. He uses the plural “we” to include God as the primary source of this revelation, assuring Nebuchadnezzar that the interpretation is absolutely reliable.

Daniel 2:37

Verse: Thou O king art a king of kings for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom power and strength and glory

  • English Explanation: Daniel addresses Nebuchadnezzar with great respect, acknowledging his immense political status as a “king of kings.” However, Daniel immediately delivers a powerful reminder: Nebuchadnezzar’s vast empire, power, and glory were not achieved by his own military might, but were granted to him entirely by the God of heaven.

Daniel 2:38

Verse: And wheresoever the children of men dwell the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand and hath made thee ruler over them all Thou art this head of gold

  • English Explanation: Daniel explains that God granted Nebuchadnezzar total dominion over the civilized world, the animals, and nature. Daniel then delivers the historic direct identification: “Thou art this head of gold.” Babylon represents the golden, supreme peak of autocratic human empire.

Daniel 2:39

Verse: And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee and another third kingdom of brass which shall bear rule over all the earth

  • English Explanation: Daniel predicts the fall of Babylon. It will be replaced by a second empire (Medo-Persia) which is “inferior” in unity and splendor, symbolized by silver. After that, a third empire made of bronze (Greece under Alexander the Great) will rise and establish vast, widespread geographical rule over the known earth.

  • Urdu Explanation: دانیال نے بابل کے زوال کی پیشین گوئی کی۔ اس کی جگہ دوسری سلطنت (میڈو-پرسین) لے گی جو اتحاد اور شان و شوکت میں بابل سے کم تر ہوگی، جس کی علامت چاندی ہے۔ اس کے بعد، پیتل کی ایک تیسری سلطنت (سکندرِ اعظم کے زیرِ اثر یونان) ابھرے گی اور معلوم دنیا پر ایک وسیع جغرافیائی حکومت قائم کرے گی۔

Daniel 2:40

Verse: And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things and as iron that breaketh all these shall it break in pieces and bruise

  • English Explanation: The fourth kingdom (Rome) is symbolized by iron. While it lacks the aesthetic value of gold or silver, it possesses unparalleled military strength. Just as iron shatters and crushes other materials, this empire will ruthlessly conquer, break, and crush all previous kingdoms and civilizations under its iron rule.

  • Urdu Explanation: چوتھی سلطنت (روم) کی علامت لوہا ہے۔ اگرچہ اس میں سونے یا چاندی جیسی خوبصورتی نہیں ہے، لیکن اس کی عسکری طاقت بے مثال ہے۔ جس طرح لوہا دوسری چیزوں کو توڑتا اور کچلتا ہے، اسی طرح یہ سلطنت اپنی لوہے جیسی سخت حکومت کے تحت پچھلی تمام سلطنتوں اور تہذیبوں کو بے رحمی سے فتح اور کچل دے گی۔

Daniel 2:41

Verse: And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes part of potters’ clay and part of iron the kingdom shall be divided but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay

  • English Explanation: Daniel moves to the final stage of the fourth empire—its extended, divided state. The feet and toes represent a world system that inherits the brutal strength of Rome (iron) but is deeply fractured and weakened by political and social divisions (potter’s clay). It is a volatile, divided global order.

Daniel 2:42

Verse: And as the toes of the feet were part of iron and part of clay so the kingdom shall be partly strong and partly broken

  • English Explanation: The ten toes signify a coalition of nations or factions growing out of the ruins of the Roman Empire. Because of the mixture of iron and clay, this global coalition will be highly inconsistent—some nations within it will be powerful and unyielding, while others will be weak, fragile, and easily broken.

  • Urdu Explanation: پاؤں کی دس انگلیاں ان قوموں یا گروہوں کے اتحاد کو ظاہر کرتی ہیں جو رومی سلطنت کے کھنڈرات سے ابھریں گے۔ لوہے اور مٹی کے آمیزے کی وجہ سے، یہ عالمی اتحاد انتہائی غیر مستقل ہوگا—اس میں شامل کچھ قومیں طاقتور اور سخت ہوں گی، جبکہ دیگر کمزور اور آسانی سے ٹوٹ جانے والی ہوں گی۔

Daniel 2:43

Verse: And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men but they shall not cleave one to another even as iron is not mixed with clay

  • English Explanation: This verse highlights the failed attempts to unite this divided world. Leaders will try to form alliances through intermarriages, treaties, and political integrations (“mingle themselves with the seed of men”). However, these efforts are doomed to fail because fundamentally different ideologies and peoples cannot permanently bond, just as iron can never chemically fuse with clay.

Daniel 2:44

Verse: And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed and the kingdom shall not be left to other people but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms and it shall stand for ever

  • English Explanation: This is the climax of the prophecy. During the era of this divided global coalition, God will establish His ultimate, divine kingdom (the Messianic Kingdom). Unlike human empires that rise and fall, God’s kingdom will never be overthrown, conquered, or passed to successors. It will permanently dismantle all human political structures and endure for eternity.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ اس پیشین گوئی کا عروج ہے۔ اس تقسیم شدہ عالمی اتحاد کے دور میں، آسمان کا خدا اپنی حتمی اور الٰہی بادشاہی (مسیحائی بادشاہی) قائم کرے گا۔ انسانی سلطنتوں کے برعکس جو بنتی اور مٹتی ہیں، خدا کی بادشاہی کبھی تباہ نہیں ہوگی اور نہ ہی کسی دوسرے کے ہاتھ میں جائے گی۔ یہ تمام انسانی سیاسی نظاموں کو ختم کر دے گی اور ابد تک قائم رہے گی۔

Daniel 2:45

Verse: Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands and that it brake in pieces the iron the brass the clay the silver and the gold the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter and the dream is certain and the interpretation thereof sure

  • English Explanation: Daniel recaps the supernatural origin of the stone cut “without hands,” reaffirming its absolute victory over human history’s metals. Daniel 2:46

Verse: Then the king Nebuchadnezzar fell upon his face and worshipped Daniel and commanded that they should offer an oblation and sweet odours unto him

  • English Explanation: Overwhelmed by the stunning accuracy of Daniel’s revelation, the most powerful king on earth humbles himself entirely. Nebuchadnezzar falls prostrate before Daniel, paying him extreme honor and ordering religious offerings to be presented to him, recognizing the divine power working through the young prophet.

  • Urdu Explanation: دانیال کے انکشاف کی حیرت انگیز سچائی سے مغلوب ہو کر، زمین کا سب سے طاقتور بادشاہ مکمل طور پر عاجز ہو گیا۔ نبوکدنضر دانیال کے سامنے اوندھے منہ گر پڑا، اسے انتہائی عزت دی اور اس نوجوان نبی کے ذریعے کام کرنے والی غیبی طاقت کو تسلیم کرتے ہوئے اس کے حضور نذرانے اور خوشبوئیں پیش کرنے کا حکم دیا۔

Daniel 2:47

Verse: The king answered unto Daniel and said Of a truth it is that your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of secrets seeing thou couldest reveal this secret

  • English Explanation: King Nebuchadnezzar makes a profound confession of faith. He openly acknowledges that Daniel’s God is the supreme authority—the “God of gods” and “Lord of kings.” The king admits that the successful revelation of this deep mystery is absolute proof of the true God’s ultimate sovereignty.

Daniel 2:48

Verse: Then the king made Daniel a great man and gave him many great gifts and made him ruler over the whole province of Babylon and chief of the governors over all the wise men of Babylon

  • English Explanation: As a reward for his divine wisdom, the king promotes Daniel to an incredibly high political and academic position. Daniel is showered with valuable gifts, appointed as the governor over the entire central province of Babylon, and made the supreme leader over all the empire’s wise men and advisors.

  • Urdu Explanation: دانیال کی اس الٰہی حکمت کے انعام کے طور پر، بادشاہ نے اسے ایک انتہائی اعلیٰ سیاسی اور علمی عہدے پر فائز کیا۔ دانیال کو قیمتی تحائف سے نوازا گیا، بابل کے پورے مرکزی صوبے کا حاکم مقرر کیا گیا، اور سلطنت کے تمام دانشمندوں اور مشیروں کا اعلیٰ سربراہ بنا دیا گیا۔

Daniel 2:49

Verse: Then Daniel requested of the king and he set Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego over the affairs of the province of Babylon but Daniel sat in the gate of the king

  • English Explanation: Even in his great success, Daniel does not forget his loyal friends. He uses his influence to petition the king to appoint Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego to high administrative roles over the affairs of Babylon. Meanwhile, Daniel remains at the royal court, occupying a position of chief prominence and counseling at the king’s gate.

  • Urdu Explanation: اپنی اس عظیم کامیابی میں بھی دانیال اپنے وفادار دوستوں کو نہیں بھولا۔ اس نے اپنے اثر و رسوخ کا استعمال کرتے ہوئے بادشاہ سے درخواست کی کہ وہ سدرک، میسک اور عبدنغو کو بابل کے انتظامی امور پر اعلیٰ عہدوں پر مامور کرے۔ جبکہ دانیال خود شاہی دربار میں رہا، اور بادشاہ کے پھاٹک پر بیٹھ کر اعلیٰ ترین مشیر کے فرائض سرانجام دینے لگا۔
