Daniel 3:20
Verse: And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
English Explanation
King Nebuchadnezzar was consumed with rage because these three Hebrew men refused to bow down to his golden image. To ensure there was absolutely no chance of escape or resistance, he ordered the strongest, most elite soldiers (“mighty men”) from his military to tie them up securely. This highlights the human effort to make the execution foolproof, contrasting human strength against divine power.

شاہ نبوکدنضر ان تین عبرانی نوجوانوں کی نافرمانی پر شدید غصے میں تھا۔ اس نے اپنی فوج کے سب سے طاقتور اور زبردست سورماؤں کو حکم دیا کہ وہ شدرک، میشک اور ابدنِگو کو مضبوطی سے باندھ دیں تاکہ ان کے بچ نکلنے کا کوئی راستہ نہ رہے۔ یہ انسانی طاقت کی انتہا کو ظاہر کرتا ہے جو خدا کی قدرت کے سامنے بے بس ہونے والی تھی۔
Daniel 3:21
Verse: Then these men were bound in their coats their hosen and their hats and their other garments and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
English Explanation
The execution was carried out with extreme haste. The men were thrown into the fire fully clothed—wearing their tunics, trousers, turbans, and cloaks. From a human perspective, these highly flammable materials would cause them to burn even faster. From a theological perspective, it sets up the miracle: not even their clothes would be touched by the flames.

ان تینوں مردوں کو ان کے لباس سمیت یعنی ان کے چوغوں، پاجاموں، ٹوپیوں اور دیگر کپڑوں سمیت باندھ کر بھڑکتے ہوئے تنور میں پھینک دیا گیا۔ جلدی کی وجہ سے ان کے کپڑے تک نہ اتارے گئے، جو کہ عام طور پر آگ پکڑنے میں بہت تیزی دکھاتے ہیں۔ یہ آگے چل کر ہونے والے معجزے کی گہرائی کو واضح کرتا ہے۔
Daniel 3:22
Verse: Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent and the furnace exceeding hot the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego.
English Explanation
Because Nebuchadnezzar was furious, he ordered the furnace to be heated seven times hotter than usual. The heat was so intense that the sudden backdraft or flames leaping out of the furnace immediately killed the king’s elite soldiers who were throwing the Hebrews in. This proves that the fire was real, deadly, and naturally inescapable.

Daniel 3:23
Verse: And these three men Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
English Explanation
This verse marks the climax of human action and the beginning of divine intervention. The three faithful servants fell directly into the heart of the roaring fire, completely tied up and helpless by human standards. It seemed that their earthly lives had come to a certain end.

Daniel 3:24
Verse: Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied and rose up in haste and spake and said unto his counsellers Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire They answered and said unto the king True O king.
English Explanation
King Nebuchadnezzar, watching from a safe distance, saw something that left him utterly paralyzed with shock (“astonied”). He jumped to his feet and questioned his advisors to double-check his own sanity. He confirms that they only threw three men who were tightly bound into the fire.

یہ منظر دیکھ کر نبوکدنضر بادشاہ ہکا بکا رہ گیا اور گھبرا کر جلدی سے اٹھ کھڑا ہوا۔ اس نے اپنے مشیروں سے پوچھا کہ کیا ہم نے تین ہی آدمیوں کو باندھ کر آگ میں نہیں ڈالا تھا؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ جی ہاں بادشاہ سلامت، ایسا ہی ہوا تھا۔
Daniel 3:25
Verse: He answered and said Lo I see four men loose walking in the midst of the fire and they have no hurt and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.
English Explanation
The king beholds an incredible supernatural sight. Instead of three bound men burning to ashes, he sees four men walking freely, completely unharmed by the intense heat. Furthermore, the fourth figure has a divine, majestic appearance, described as looking like “the Son of God” (or a son of the gods, a divine messenger/theophany of Christ). God did not keep them from the fire; He met them in the fire.

بادشاہ نے کہا لیکن دیکھو، مجھے چار آدمی آگ کے بیچ میں آزاد گھومتے ہوئے دکھائی دے رہے ہیں جنہیں کوئی نقصان نہیں پہنچا۔ اور چوتھے شخص کی شبہہ خدا کے بیٹے (یا فرشتوں/الٰہی ہستی) جیسی ہے۔ خدا نے اپنے بندوں کو آگ میں گرنے سے نہیں روکا بلکہ آگ کے اندر خود ان کا ساتھی بن گیا۔
Daniel 3:26
Verse: Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spake and said Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego ye servants of the most high God come forth and come hither Then Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego came forth of the midst of the fire.
English Explanation
Nebuchadnezzar approaches the furnace door and addresses the three men, completely changing his tone. He recognizes their God as the “most high God.” He orders them to come out. In obedience to the king, the three men calmly step out of the roaring furnace, alive and well.

Daniel 3:27
Verse: And the princes governors and captains and the king’s counsellers being gathered together saw these men upon whose bodies the fire had no power nor was an hair of their head singed neither were their coats changed nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
English Explanation
All the royal officials gather around to inspect the men. The miracle is absolute: the fire had absolutely no power over them. Their hair was not singed, their clothes were not scorched or discolored, and there was not even the faint smell of smoke or fire on them. God’s preservation was flawless.

تمام شہزادوں، حاکموں، کپتانوں اور شاہی مشیروں نے جمع ہو کر ان مردوں کو دیکھا۔ آگ ان کے جسموں پر بالکل بے اثر رہی تھی، یہاں تک کہ ان کے سر کا ایک بال بھی نہیں جھلسا تھا، نہ ان کے کپڑوں رنگ بدلا تھا اور نہ ہی ان میں سے جلنے یا دھوئیں کی بو آتی تھی۔
Daniel 3:28
Verse: Then Nebuchadnezzar spake and said Blessed be the God of Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego who hath sent his angel and delivered his servants that trusted in him and have changed the king’s word and yielded their bodies that they might not serve nor worship any god except their own God.
English Explanation
Nebuchadnezzar breaks out into praise for the God of the Hebrews. He acknowledges that God sent His messenger to deliver those who trusted in Him. He commends the three men for their radical faith—defying the royal decree and willingly risking their physical bodies rather than compromising their worship of the one true God.

Daniel 3:29
Verse: Therefore I make a decree That every people nation and language which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego shall be cut in pieces and their houses shall be made a dunghill because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
English Explanation
The king issues a universal decree protecting the God of Israel. Anyone who speaks against Him will face violent execution and asset destruction. Nebuchadnezzar recognizes a theological truth: no other deity possesses the power to rescue and deliver people in such an absolute, miraculous manner.

Daniel 3:30
Verse: Then the king promoted Shadrach Meshach and Abed-nego in the province of Babylon.
English Explanation
Instead of being executed as rebels, the narrative concludes with the elevation of the three faithful Hebrews. God honored their steadfastness, and Nebuchadnezzar promoted them to higher positions of authority within the province of Babylon.

Chapter 4
Daniel 4:1
Verse: Nebuchadnezzar the king unto all people nations and languages that dwell in all the earth Peace be multiplied unto you.

Chapter 4 opens as an official royal proclamation or open testimony written by King Nebuchadnezzar himself. He addresses the entire known world under his empire with a traditional greeting of peace, signaling a profound internal shift in his attitude from an arrogant tyrant to a humbler ruler.

Daniel 4:2
Verse: I thought it good to shew the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me.
English Explanation
The king desires to share his personal testimony. He feels a moral and spiritual obligation to declare the supernatural signs and miracles that the “High God” (the Almighty God of Israel) has performed in his own life, teaching him humility.

Daniel 4:3
Verse: How great are his signs and how mighty are his wonders his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom and his dominion is from generation to generation.

Nebuchadnezzar breaks out into doxology, praising God’s eternal majesty. He contrasts his own temporary, earthly empire with God’s kingdom, which is eternal (“everlasting”) and extends throughout all human generations.

Daniel 4:4
Verse: I Nebuchadnezzar was at rest in mine house and flourishing in my palace.
English Explanation
The king sets the historical context of his second dream. He was living in complete peace, security, and material prosperity (“flourishing”) within his palace. He was at the height of his worldly power, which often leads to dangerous spiritual pride.

Daniel 4:5
Verse: I saw a dream which made me afraid and the thoughts upon my bed and the visions of my head troubled me.
English Explanation
Despite his absolute power and security, a supernatural dream shatters his peace. The nighttime visions trouble him deeply and terrify him, proving that no earthly wealth or military might can shield a human soul from God’s troubling convictions.

Daniel 4:6
Verse: Therefore made I a decree to bring in all the wise men of Babylon before me that they might make known unto me the interpretation of the dream.
English Explanation
Seeking to understand the terrifying dream, Nebuchadnezzar issues a royal decree to summon all the occultists and secular wise men of Babylon. He turns to human intellect and pagan wisdom first to find answers to spiritual problems.

Daniel 4:7
Verse: Then came in the magicians the astrologers the Chaldeans and the soothsayers and I told the dream before them but they did not make known unto me the interpretation thereof.
English Explanation
The various classes of Babylonian wise men—sorcerers, astrologers, philosophers—gather, and the king describes the dream to them. Unlike his first dream where they had to guess the dream itself, here they know the details but are completely powerless to interpret its spiritual meaning.

Daniel 4:8
Verse: But at the last Daniel came in before me whose name was Belteshazzar according to the name of my god and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods and before him I told the dream saying.

Daniel 4:9
Verse: O Belteshazzar master of the magicians because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee and no secret troubleth thee tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen and the interpretation thereof.
English Explanation
The king addresses Daniel as the chief of his wise men. He expresses total confidence in Daniel, knowing that no secret or mystery is too difficult for him because of the divine spirit within him. He asks Daniel to explain both the visions and their true interpretation.

Daniel 4:10
Verse: Thus were the visions of mine head in my bed I saw and behold a tree in the midst of the earth and the height thereof was great.
English Explanation
Nebuchadnezzar begins describing the actual dream. He saw a massive, towering tree standing at the center of the earth. Its height was immense, visible to all. In biblical imagery, a large tree often symbolizes a powerful kingdom or an arrogant ruler whose influence spans far and wide.
