
Verse 9:24
Verse: Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you English Explanation: Moses delivers a blunt assessment of Israel’s character. Since the moment he began leading them, their history was marked by defiance and lack of faith. Urdu Explanation: موسیٰ بنی اسرائیل کو ان کی حقیقت یاد دلاتے ہیں کہ جب سے وہ ان کو جانتے ہیں، انہوں نے ہمیشہ خداوند کی نافرمانی اور بغاوت کی ہے۔ یہ ان کی فطرت کا ایک افسوسناک پہلو تھا۔
Verse 9:25
Verse: Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights as I fell down at the first because the LORD had said he would destroy you English Explanation: Because of Israel’s sin with the golden calf, Moses prostrated himself in intense prayer for 40 days to prevent God’s total destruction of the nation. Urdu Explanation: جب خداوند نے بنی اسرائیل کو ہلاک کرنے کا ارادہ کیا، تو موسیٰ چالیس دن اور چالیس راتیں سجدے میں رہے تاکہ خدا کے غصے کو ٹھنڈا کر سکیں۔
Verse 9:26
Verse: I prayed therefore unto the LORD and said O Lord GOD destroy not thy people and thine inheritance which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand English Explanation: Moses appeals to God’s reputation. He reminds God that these people are His own “inheritance,” rescued from Egypt by His miraculous power. Urdu Explanation: موسیٰ نے دعا کی کہ اے خداوند، اپنی اس قوم کو ہلاک نہ کر جسے تو نے اپنی قدرت سے مصر سے چھڑایا ہے۔ وہ خدا کے بڑے نام اور اس کے عہد کا واسطہ دیتے ہیں۔
Verse 9:27
Verse: Remember thy servants Abraham Isaac and Jacob look not unto the stubbornness of this people nor to their wickedness nor to their sin English Explanation: Moses asks God to look past the current sins of the people and remember the covenant made with the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob). Urdu Explanation: وہ خدا سے التجا کرتے ہیں کہ بنی اسرائیل کی سرکشی اور گناہ کو نہ دیکھ، بلکہ اپنے خادموں ابرہام، اضحاق اور یعقوب کے ساتھ کیے گئے وعدوں کو یاد فرما۔
Verse 9:28
Verse: Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them and because he hated them he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness English Explanation: Moses argues that if Israel is destroyed, the Egyptians will mock God, saying He was either unable to save them or that He led them out just to kill them. Urdu Explanation: موسیٰ کی فکر یہ تھی کہ اگر قوم ہلاک ہو گئی تو مصری کہیں گے کہ خدا انہیں ملکِ موعود تک لے جانے کی طاقت نہیں رکھتا تھا یا وہ ان سے نفرت کرتا تھا۔
Verse 9:29
Verse: Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm English Explanation: He concludes his plea by reaffirming that despite their flaws, they are still God’s chosen people, brought out by His divine strength. Urdu Explanation: وہ اپنی بات ختم کرتے ہوئے کہتے ہیں کہ یہ تیرے ہی لوگ ہیں جنہیں تو نے اپنے زورآور ہاتھ سے غلامی سے نجات دلائی۔
Chapter 10
Verse 10:1
Verse: At that time the LORD said unto me Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first and come up unto me into the mount and make thee an ark of wood English Explanation: God instructs Moses to carve two new stone tablets to replace the ones Moses broke, and to build a wooden chest (ark) to hold them. Urdu Explanation: خدا نے موسیٰ سے کہا کہ پہلے جیسی پتھر کی دو تختیاں تیار کرے اور پہاڑ پر آئے، اور لکڑی کا ایک صندوق (عہد کا صندوق) بھی بنائے۔
Verse 10:2
Verse: And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest and thou shalt put them in the ark English Explanation: God promises to rewrite the same Ten Commandments on the new stones, signifying a renewal of the broken covenant. Urdu Explanation: خدا نے وعدہ کیا کہ وہ ان نئی تختیوں پر وہی کلام (دس احکام) دوبارہ لکھے گا جو پہلی تختیوں پر تھا، اور انہیں صندوق میں رکھا جائے گا۔
Verse 10:3
Verse: And I made an ark of shittim wood and hewed two tables of stone like unto the first and went up into the mount having the two tables in mine hand English Explanation: Moses obeys by preparing the acacia wood ark and the stones, then ascending the mountain once more. Urdu Explanation: موسیٰ نے حکم کی تعمیل کرتے ہوئے ککر کی لکڑی کا صندوق بنایا اور پتھر کی تختیاں لے کر پہاڑ پر چڑھ گئے۔
Verse 10:4
Verse: And he wrote on the tables according to the first writing the ten commandments which the LORD spake unto you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly and the LORD gave them unto me English Explanation: God writes the commandments—the core laws given amidst fire at Sinai—and delivers them to Moses. Urdu Explanation: خدا نے ان تختیوں پر وہی دس احکام لکھے جو اس نے آگ کے درمیان سے بنی اسرائیل کو دیے تھے، اور وہ موسیٰ کے حوالے کیں۔
Verse 10:5
Verse: And I turned myself and came down from the mount and put the tables in the ark which I had made and there they be as the LORD commanded me English Explanation: Moses descends and places the law inside the ark, where it remained as a permanent testimony of God’s requirements. Urdu Explanation: موسیٰ پہاڑ سے اترے اور ان تختیوں کو اسی صندوق میں رکھ دیا جیسا کہ حکم ہوا تھا، اور وہ وہیں رہیں۔
Verse 10:6
Verse: And the children of Israel took their journey from Beeroth of the children of Jaakan to Mosera there Aaron died and there he was buried and Eleazar his son ministered in the priest’s office in his stead English Explanation: A historical parenthetical note regarding their journey and the death of Aaron, showing the transition of the high priesthood to his son Eleazar. Urdu Explanation: یہاں بنی اسرائیل کے سفر کا ذکر ہے کہ موسیرہ کے مقام پر ہارون کا انتقال ہوا اور ان کے بیٹے الیعزر نے ان کی جگہ کہانت سنبھالی۔
Verse 10:7
Verse: From thence they journeyed unto Gudgodah and from Gudgodah to Jotbath a land of rivers of waters English Explanation: The journey continued through specific locations, highlighting God’s provision of water in the desert. Urdu Explanation: ان کے سفر کا تذکرہ جاری رہتا ہے کہ وہ جدگودہ اور پھر یطبات پہنچے، جو نہروں اور پانی کی سرزمین تھی۔
Verse 10:8
Verse: At that time the LORD separated the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of the covenant of the LORD to stand before the LORD to minister unto him and to bless in his name unto this day English Explanation: The tribe of Levi is formally set apart for spiritual duties: carrying the ark, serving God, and blessing the people. Urdu Explanation: اس وقت خدا نے لاوی کے قبیلے کو الگ کیا تاکہ وہ عہد کا صندوق اٹھائیں، خدا کی خدمت کریں اور اس کے نام پر برکت دیں۔
Verse 10:9
Verse: Wherefore Levi hath no part nor inheritance with his brethren the LORD is his inheritance according as the LORD thy God promised him English Explanation: Unlike other tribes, Levites received no land; their “inheritance” was the privilege of serving God directly. Urdu Explanation: اسی لیے لاویوں کو زمین کا حصہ نہیں ملا، کیونکہ خود خداوند ہی ان کی میراث ہے جیسا کہ وعدہ کیا گیا تھا۔
Verse 10:10
Verse: And I stayed in the mount according to the first time forty days and forty nights and the LORD hearkened unto me at that time also and the LORD would not destroy thee English Explanation: Moses reiterates that his second 40-day stay was successful; God listened to his prayer and spared the nation. Urdu Explanation: موسیٰ بتاتے ہیں کہ وہ دوبارہ چالیس دن پہاڑ پر رہے اور خدا نے پھر ان کی دعا سنی اور قوم کو تباہ نہ کیا۔
Verse 10:11
Verse: And the LORD said unto me Arise take thy journey before the people that they may go in and possess the land which I sware unto their fathers to give unto them English Explanation: God commands Moses to lead the people forward to take the Promised Land, showing His grace is renewed. Urdu Explanation: خدا نے موسیٰ کو حکم دیا کہ اب اٹھو اور قوم کی قیادت کرو تاکہ وہ اس زمین پر قبضہ کریں جس کا وعدہ ان کے باپ دادا سے کیا گیا تھا۔
Verse 10:12
Verse: And now Israel what doth the LORD thy God require of thee but to fear the LORD thy God to walk in all his ways and to love him and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul English Explanation: This is the core of the law: God asks for reverence (fear), obedience (walking in His ways), love, and wholehearted service. Urdu Explanation: اب اسرائیل سے مطالبہ کیا گیا ہے کہ وہ اپنے خدا کا خوف مانے، اس کی راہوں پر چلے، اس سے محبت کرے اور پورے دل و جان سے اس کی خدمت کرے۔
Verse 10:13
Verse: To keep the commandments of the LORD and his statutes which I command thee this day for thy good English Explanation: God’s laws are not for His benefit, but for the “good” and prosperity of the people. Urdu Explanation: خدا کے احکام پر عمل کرنا خود انسان کے اپنے فائدے اور بھلائی کے لیے ہے۔
Verse 10:14
Verse: Behold the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’s thy God the earth also with all that therein is English Explanation: Moses highlights God’s sovereignty; He owns the entire universe, from the highest heavens to the earth. Urdu Explanation: آسمان، زمین اور جو کچھ ان میں ہے، سب خداوند کا ہے، وہ کائنات کا مالک ہے۔
Verse 10:15
Verse: Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them and he chose their seed after them even you above all people as it is this day English Explanation: Despite owning everything, God specifically chose to love and partner with Israel because of His affection for their ancestors. Urdu Explanation: اس سب کے باوجود، خدا نے صرف تمہارے باپ دادا کو پسند کیا اور ان کی نسل کو تمام قوموں پر فوقیت دی۔
Verse 10:16
Verse: Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart and be no more stiffnecked English Explanation: This is a call for internal change. Physical rituals are not enough; the heart must be humbled and surrendered to God. Urdu Explanation: اپنے دلوں کو پاک کرو اور اپنی ضد چھوڑ دو؛ خدا صرف ظاہری رسم نہیں بلکہ دل کی تبدیلی چاہتا ہے۔
Verse 10:17
Verse: For the LORD your God is God of gods and Lord of lords a great God a mighty and a terrible which regardeth not persons nor taketh reward English Explanation: God is described as the ultimate authority—impartial, incorruptible, and awesome in power. Urdu Explanation: تمہارا خدا معبودوں کا معبود اور خداوندوں کا خداوند ہے، جو کسی کی طرفداری نہیں کرتا اور نہ ہی رشوت لیتا ہے۔
Verse 10:18
Verse: He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow and loveth the stranger in giving him food and raiment English Explanation: God’s justice is seen in His care for the vulnerable: orphans, widows, and foreigners. Urdu Explanation: وہ یتیموں اور بیواؤں کا انصاف کرتا ہے اور مسافروں سے محبت کرتا ہے، انہیں کھانا اور کپڑا دیتا ہے۔
Verse 10:19
Verse: Love ye therefore the stranger for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt English Explanation: Because Israel knew the pain of being outsiders in Egypt, they are commanded to show empathy and love to foreigners. Urdu Explanation: تمہیں بھی مسافروں اور غیر ملکیوں سے محبت کرنی چاہیے کیونکہ تم خود مصر میں مسافر تھے۔
Verse 10:20
Verse: Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God him shalt thou serve and to him shalt thou cleave and swear by his name English Explanation: The final exhortation is for absolute loyalty: fear God, serve Him, cling to Him, and acknowledge Him in all oaths. Urdu Explanation: تمہیں صرف اپنے خدا کا خوف ماننا چاہیے، اسی کی بندگی کرنی چاہیے، اور اسی سے لپٹے رہنا چاہیے۔
