Deuteronomy 28:41

Verse: Thou shalt beget sons and daughters but thou shalt not enjoy them for they shall go into captivity

  • English Explanation: This verse predicts the heartbreaking loss of the next generation. Despite the effort of raising children, parents will face the agony of seeing them taken away as prisoners of war to foreign lands.

  • Urdu Explanation: اس آیت میں اولاد کے چھن جانے کی پیشگوئی کی گئی ہے۔ والدین اپنی اولاد کی پرورش تو کریں گے لیکن ان کی رفاقت سے خوشی حاصل نہیں کر سکیں گے کیونکہ ان کے بچے دشمنوں کی قید میں چلے جائیں گے۔

Deuteronomy 28:42

Verse: All thy trees and fruit of thy land shall the locust consume

  • English Explanation: Agricultural devastation is promised here. The labor of the farmer will be rendered useless as swarms of insects destroy the primary food sources and economic wealth of the nation.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہاں زرعی تباہی کا ذکر ہے۔ کسانوں کی محنت ضائع ہو جائے گی کیونکہ ٹڈی دل ان کے درختوں اور زمین کے پھلوں کو چٹ کر جائیں گے جس سے معیشت تباہ ہو جائے گی۔

Deuteronomy 28:43

Verse: The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high and thou shalt come down very low

  • English Explanation: This describes a total social and economic reversal. Immigrants or foreigners living within the borders will rise to positions of power and wealth, while the native citizens sink into poverty and insignificance.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ آیت سماجی اور معاشی زوال کی تصویر کشی کرتی ہے۔ تمہارے ملک میں رہنے والے غیر ملکی ترقی کر کے بہت بلند مقام حاصل کر لیں گے جبکہ تم ذلیل و خوار ہو کر بہت نیچے گر جاؤ گے۔

Deuteronomy 28:44

Verse: He shall lend to thee and thou shalt not lend to him he shall be the head and thou shalt be the tail

  • English Explanation: Economic dependency is the theme. The nation will lose its financial independence, becoming a debtor to foreigners. This creates a hierarchy where the foreigner leads and the native follows.

  • Urdu Explanation: معاشی محتاجی اس آیت کا موضوع ہے۔ تم اپنی ضروریات کے لیے غیروں کے قرض دار بن جاؤ گے، وہ حاکم بنیں گے اور تم ان کے زیر اثر یعنی دم بن کر رہ جاؤ گے۔

Deuteronomy 28:45

Verse: Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee and shall pursue thee and overtake thee till thou be destroyed because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee

  • English Explanation: The root cause of these disasters is identified: failing to listen to God’s voice. The curses are described as an inescapable force that follows the disobedient until total destruction is reached.

  • Urdu Explanation: ان تمام آفات کی اصل وجہ اللہ کے کلام کو نہ سننا اور اس کے احکامات پر عمل نہ کرنا بتائی گئی ہے۔ یہ لعنتیں تمہارا پیچھا کریں گی اور تمہیں اس وقت تک نہیں چھوڑیں گی جب تک تم ہلاک نہ ہو جاؤ۔

Deuteronomy 28:46

Verse: And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder and upon thy seed for ever

  • English Explanation: The suffering of the people would serve as a historical “sign” or warning to the world, demonstrating the reality of divine judgment across generations.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ مصائب اور نشانات تمہارے اور تمہاری نسلوں کے لیے ہمیشہ کے لیے ایک عبرت کی نشانی بن جائیں گے تاکہ دنیا دیکھ سکے کہ نافرمانی کا انجام کیا ہوتا ہے۔

Deuteronomy 28:47

Verse: Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness and with gladness of heart for the abundance of all things

  • English Explanation: Judgment comes not just for lack of service, but for serving without gratitude. When people enjoy abundance but forget the Giver, their hearts grow cold.

  • Urdu Explanation: سزا صرف خدمت نہ کرنے پر نہیں بلکہ شکر گزاری کے بغیر زندگی گزارنے پر دی گئی۔ جب انسان خوشحالی میں اللہ کو بھول جاتا ہے تو وہ زوال کا شکار ہوتا ہے۔

Deuteronomy 28:48

Verse: Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee in hunger and in thirst and in nakedness and in want of all things and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck until he have destroyed thee

  • English Explanation: Those who refuse to serve a loving God will be forced to serve cruel enemies. This “yoke of iron” symbolizes harsh, unbreakable slavery characterized by extreme deprivation.

  • Urdu Explanation: جو اللہ کی بندگی نہیں کرتے، انہیں ظالم دشمنوں کی غلامی کرنی پڑے گی۔ “لوہے کا جوا” ایک ایسی سخت غلامی کی علامت ہے جس میں بھوک، پیاس اور ہر چیز کی محرومی ہوگی۔

Deuteronomy 28:49

Verse: The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far from the end of the earth as swift as the eagle flieth a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand

  • English Explanation: A prophecy of an invading empire (often identified with Rome or Babylon) that strikes quickly. The language barrier adds to the terror, as no negotiation is possible.

  • Urdu Explanation: ایک ایسی قوم کے حملے کی پیشگوئی ہے جو عقاب کی طرح تیزی سے حملہ کرے گی۔ ان کی زبان اجنبی ہوگی جس کی وجہ سے مفاہمت یا رحم کی اپیل ممکن نہیں ہوگی۔

Deuteronomy 28:50

Verse: A nation of fierce countenance which shall not regard the person of the old nor shew favour to the young

  • English Explanation: The invaders are described as merciless and “fierce.” They lack human compassion, showing no respect for the elderly or pity for children.

  • Urdu Explanation: حملہ آور قوم نہایت بے رحم اور تند خو ہوگی۔ وہ نہ بوڑھوں کی عزت کریں گے اور نہ ہی بچوں پر کوئی ترس کھائیں گے۔

Deuteronomy 28:51

Verse: And he shall eat the fruit of thy cattle and the fruit of thy land until thou be destroyed which also shall not leave thee either corn wine or oil or the increase of thy kine or flocks of thy sheep until he have destroyed thee

  • English Explanation: The enemy will consume all resources. Total economic depletion ensures that the people have no means to recover or sustain life.

  • Urdu Explanation: دشمن تمہارے تمام وسائل یعنی مویشی اور غلہ غصب کر لے گا۔ وہ تمہارے پاس کھانے پینے کی کوئی چیز نہیں چھوڑیں گے یہاں تک کہ تم بھوک سے مٹ جاؤ گے۔

Deuteronomy 28:52

Verse: And he shall besiege thee in all thy gates until thy high and fenced walls come down wherein thou trustedst throughout all thy land and he shall besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land which the LORD thy God hath given thee

  • English Explanation: The people relied on physical fortifications and walls for safety. This verse warns that those walls will fail under a total siege, proving that physical strength cannot save one from divine judgment.

  • Urdu Explanation: تم اپنی اونچی دیواروں اور قلعوں پر بھروسہ کرتے تھے، لیکن دشمن تمہارے تمام شہروں کا محاصرہ کر لے گا یہاں تک کہ تمہاری وہ پناہ گاہیں جن پر تمہیں ناز تھا، مسمار کر دی جائیں گی۔

Deuteronomy 28:53 – 28:57

Verses Summary: These verses detail the horrific starvation during sieges, leading to cannibalism within families.

  • English Explanation: These verses describe the ultimate degradation of humanity. Under the extreme pressure of hunger and siege, the most “tender and delicate” people would turn against their own families, even consuming their own children in secret out of desperation.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ آیات انسانیت کے زوال کی انتہا بیان کرتی ہیں۔ محاصرے کی شدت اور بھوک کی وجہ سے لوگ اتنے مجبور ہو جائیں گے کہ وہ اپنے ہی بچوں کا گوشت کھانے لگیں گے اور اپنے قریبی رشتوں سے بھی اسے چھپائیں گے۔

Deuteronomy 28:58 – 28:61

Verses Summary: The promise of extraordinary plagues and diseases.

  • English Explanation: If the law is ignored, God promises diseases that are persistent and “wonderful” (meaning extraordinary in severity). This includes the return of the plagues of Egypt and new sicknesses not even mentioned in the text.

  • Urdu Explanation: اگر قانون کی خلاف ورزی کی گئی تو ایسی بیماریاں اور وبائیں نازل ہوں گی جو نہایت شدید اور طویل ہوں گی۔ ان میں مصر کی پرانی بیماریاں اور نئی وبائیں بھی شامل ہوں گی جن کا ذکر کتاب میں بھی نہیں۔

Deuteronomy 28:62

Verse: And ye shall be left few in number whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God

  • English Explanation: A massive population decline is predicted. A nation that was once as numerous as the stars will be reduced to a small remnant due to war and disease.

  • Urdu Explanation: آبادی میں بڑے پیمانے پر کمی واقع ہوگی۔ وہ قوم جو ستاروں کی مانند بے شمار تھی، اپنی نافرمانی کی وجہ سے بہت تھوڑی رہ جائے گی۔

Deuteronomy 28:63

Verse: And it shall come to pass that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good and to multiply you so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you and to bring you to nought and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it

  • English Explanation: The most somber warning: just as God delighted in blessing the people, justice requires that He also preside over their removal from the promised land if they abandon the covenant.

  • Urdu Explanation: یہ سب سے سنگین انتباہ ہے: جس طرح اللہ تمہیں برکت دے کر خوش ہوتا تھا، ویسے ہی عدل کا تقاضا ہے کہ وہ تمہیں اس سرزمین سے نکال پھینکنے اور تباہ کرنے پر راضی ہو جائے گا اگر تم نے عہد توڑا۔
