Deuteronomy 28:64
Verse: And the LORD shall scatter thee among all people from the one end of the earth even unto the other and there thou shalt serve other gods which neither thou nor thy fathers have known even wood and stone English Explanation: This verse prophesies the global diaspora of the Israelites as a consequence of breaking the covenant. Deuteronomy 28:65
Verse: And among these nations shalt thou find no ease neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest but the LORD shall give thee there a trembling heart and failing of eyes and sorrow of mind English Explanation: This describes the psychological and physical toll of exile. There will be no place of permanent security. The “trembling heart” and “sorrow of mind” signify constant anxiety and depression resulting from their unstable condition. Urdu Explanation: غیر قوموں کے درمیان انہیں کبھی سکون نہیں ملے گا۔ وہ ہمیشہ بے چین رہیں گے اور ان کا دل خوفزدہ رہے گا۔ بصارت کی کمزوری اور ذہنی غم ان کا مقدر بنے گا کیونکہ ان کے پاس اپنا کوئی ٹھکانہ نہیں ہوگا۔
Deuteronomy 28:66
Verse: And thy life shall hang in doubt before thee and thou shalt fear day and night and shalt have none assurance of thy life English Explanation: Life in exile is depicted as precarious. The constant threat of persecution ensures that the individual never feels safe, living in a state of perpetual fear regarding their survival. Urdu Explanation: ان کی زندگی ہمیشہ خطرے میں رہے گی۔ وہ دن رات خوفزدہ رہیں گے اور انہیں اپنی جان کی کوئی ضمانت یا اطمینان میسر نہیں ہوگا۔
Deuteronomy 28:67
Verse: In the morning thou shalt say Would God it were even! and at even thou shalt say Would God it were morning! for the fear of thine heart wherewith thou shalt fear and for the sight of thine eyes which thou shalt see English Explanation: This verse captures the essence of extreme distress. The suffering is so intense that the person wishes for the day to end when it begins, and for the night to end as soon as it falls, driven by the horrors they witness. Urdu Explanation: شدید خوف اور تکلیف کی وجہ سے وہ صبح کو شام کی تمنا کریں گے اور شام کو صبح کا انتظار کریں گے۔ ان کے دل اس قدر ڈرے ہوئے ہوں گے کہ وہ ہر وقت آنے والے وقت سے پناہ مانگیں گے۔
Deuteronomy 28:68
Verse: And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again with ships by the way whereof I spake unto thee Thou shalt see it no more again and there ye shall be sold unto your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen and no man shall buy you English Explanation: Returning to Egypt symbolizes a return to slavery, but in a worse form. While they were once brought out by God’s hand, they would return as unwanted commodities, so devalued that no one would even bother to buy them as slaves. Urdu Explanation: خداوند انہیں دوبارہ بحری جہازوں کے ذریعے مصر (غلامی) میں لے جائے گا جہاں وہ خود کو اپنے دشمنوں کے ہاتھ غلاموں کے طور پر بیچنا چاہیں گے لیکن کوئی انہیں خریدنے والا بھی نہ ہوگا۔ یہ ذلت کی انتہا ہے۔
Deuteronomy 29:1
Verse: These are the words of the covenant which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb English Explanation: This marks the transition to a formal renewal of the covenant in the land of Moab. It complements the original covenant established at Mount Horeb (Sinai). Urdu Explanation: یہ اس عہد کے الفاظ ہیں جو خداوند نے موسیٰ کو موآب کی سرزمین میں بنی اسرائیل کے ساتھ کرنے کا حکم دیا۔ یہ اس عہد کے علاوہ ہے جو حورب (سینا) میں کیا گیا تھا۔
Deuteronomy 29:2-3
Verse: And Moses called unto all Israel and said unto them Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh and unto all his servants and unto all his land The great temptations which thine eyes have seen the signs and those great miracles English Explanation: Moses reminds the people of their history. He recounts the plagues and miracles God performed to liberate them, emphasizing that they were eye-witnesses to God’s power. Urdu Explanation: موسیٰ نے تمام اسرائیل کو بلا کر یاد دلایا کہ انہوں نے مصر میں فرعون اور اس کے ملک کے ساتھ خدا کے معجزات اور قدرت کے کاموں کو اپنی آنکھوں سے دیکھا ہے۔
Deuteronomy 29:4
Verse: Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear unto this day English Explanation: Despite seeing the miracles, the people lacked spiritual discernment. Moses points out that internalizing the truth requires a heart inclined toward God, which the people had yet to fully demonstrate. Urdu Explanation: اس سب کے باوجود، موسیٰ کہتا ہے کہ آج کے دن تک تمہارے پاس وہ دل نہیں جو سمجھ سکے اور نہ وہ آنکھیں جو دیکھ سکیں، یعنی تم اب تک روحانی طور پر حقیقت کو سمجھنے سے قاصر ہو۔
Deuteronomy 29:5-6
Verse: And I have led you forty years in the wilderness your clothes are not waxen old upon you and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot Ye have not eaten bread neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink that ye might know that I am the LORD your God English Explanation: God’s miraculous provision is highlighted. For forty years, their clothes and shoes did not wear out, and they were sustained by manna rather than common food, proving God’s direct care. Urdu Explanation: چالیس سال تک بیابان میں خدا نے ان کی رہنمائی کی۔ نہ ان کے کپڑے پرانے ہوئے اور نہ ان کے جوتے ٹوٹے۔ انہوں نے عام روٹی یا مے نہیں پی تاکہ وہ جان لیں کہ خداوند ہی ان کا خدا ہے۔
Deuteronomy 29:7-8
Verse: And when ye came unto this place Sihon the king of Heshbon and Og the king of Bashan came out against us unto battle and we smote them And we took their land and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites and to the Gadites and to the half tribe of Manasseh English Explanation: Moses recalls recent military victories over Kings Sihon and Og. These victories were proof that God would deliver the Promised Land to them, as parts of it had already been divided among three tribes. Urdu Explanation: جب وہ اس جگہ پہنچے تو بادشاہ سیحون اور عوج نے جنگ کی لیکن بنی اسرائیل نے انہیں شکست دی اور ان کی زمین چھین کر روبنیوں، جادیوں اور منسی کے آدھے قبیلے کو دے دی۔
Deuteronomy 29:9
Verse: Keep therefore the words of this covenant and do them that ye may prosper in all that ye do English Explanation: The command is simple: obedience leads to prosperity. Success in the new land is contingent upon their adherence to the laws set by God. Urdu Explanation: پس اس عہد کے الفاظ پر عمل کرو تاکہ تم جو کچھ بھی کرو اس میں کامیاب اور خوشحال رہو۔
Deuteronomy 29:10-13
Verse: Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God… That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God… That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself English Explanation: This was a national assembly including leaders, children, wives, and even foreign servants. The goal was to establish Israel as God’s special people, fulfilling the oath made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Urdu Explanation: آج تم سب خداوند کے سامنے کھڑے ہو—بزرگ، بچے، بیویاں اور پردیسی بھی—تاکہ تم اس عہد میں شامل ہو سکو جو خدا نے تمہارے باپ دادا ابرہام، اضحاق اور یعقوب سے کیا تھا اور تمہیں اپنی خاص قوم بنا سکے۔
Deuteronomy 29:14-15
Verse: Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God and also with him that is not here with us this day English Explanation: The covenant is not just for that generation but for all future generations of Israelites. It is a perpetual agreement that binds their descendants as well. Urdu Explanation: یہ عہد صرف موجودہ لوگوں کے لیے نہیں ہے بلکہ آنے والی نسلوں کے لیے بھی ہے جو آج یہاں موجود نہیں ہیں۔ یہ ایک ابدی عہد ہے۔
Deuteronomy 29:16-17
Verse: For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt… And ye have seen their abominations and their idols wood and stone silver and gold which were among them English Explanation: Moses reminds them of the disgusting idols they saw in Egypt and other nations. He warns them not to be seduced by the physical beauty of idols made of silver and gold. Urdu Explanation: تم جانتے ہو کہ ہم مصر میں کیسے رہے اور دوسری قوموں کے بتوں (لکڑی، پتھر، چاندی اور سونے) کو دیکھا۔ یہ سب گھناؤنی چیزیں تھیں۔
Deuteronomy 29:18
Verse: Lest there should be among you man or woman or family or tribe whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God to go and serve the gods of these nations lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood English Explanation: This is a warning against individual or group apostasy. A single “bitter root” (an idolater) can poison the entire community, leading to widespread spiritual ruin. Urdu Explanation: خبردار رہو کہ تم میں کوئی ایسا مرد، عورت یا خاندان نہ ہو جس کا دل خدا سے پھر جائے اور وہ دوسرے معبودوں کی پوجا کرے۔ ایسا شخص ایک کڑوی جڑ کی مانند ہے جو پوری قوم میں زہر پھیلا دے گی۔
Deuteronomy 29:19
Verse: And it come to pass when he heareth the words of this curse that he bless himself in his heart saying I shall have peace though I walk in the imagination of mine heart to add drunkenness to thirst English Explanation: This verse describes the person who falsely believes they are safe while living in sin. They ignore the warnings and think they can do as they please without consequence, compounding their errors. Urdu Explanation: اگر کوئی شخص ان لعنتوں کو سن کر دل میں یہ کہے کہ “میں سلامتی سے رہوں گا خواہ میں اپنی من مانی کروں”، تو وہ خود کو دھوکہ دے رہا ہے۔ وہ اپنی پیاس بجھانے کے لیے مزید گناہ کرے گا۔
Deuteronomy 29:20
Verse: The LORD will not spare him but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven English Explanation: God’s judgment on such a person is severe. There will be no forgiveness for the unrepentant sinner who mocks the covenant; they will face the full weight of the curses, and their legacy will be destroyed. Urdu Explanation: خداوند ایسے شخص کو ہرگز معاف نہیں کرے گا۔ اس کا غصہ اس شخص پر آگ کی طرح بھڑکے گا اور اس کتاب کی تمام لعنتیں اس پر نازل ہوں گی، یہاں تک کہ اس کا نام دنیا سے مٹ جائے گا۔
