Ezekiel 23:11

Verse: And when her sister Aholibah saw this she was more corrupt in her inordinate love than she and in her whoredoms more than her sister in her whoredoms

  • English Explanation: This verse introduces “Aholibah” (representing the Southern Kingdom of Judah/Jerusalem) witnessing the spiritual downfall and subsequent captivity of her sister “Aholah” (representing the Northern Kingdom of Israel/Samaria). Instead of learning from Samaria’s destruction by the Assyrians, Judah chose to dive even deeper into political alliances and pagan idolatry, making her sins far greater because she sinned against greater light and warnings.

Ezekiel 23:12

Verse: She doted upon the Assyrians her neighbours captains and rulers clothed most gorgeously horsemen riding upon horses all of them desirable young men

  • English Explanation: Judah became infatuated with the military might, wealthy attire, and political prestige of the Assyrians. The imagery of “gorgeously clothed horsemen” and “desirable young men” represents Judah’s superficial attraction to worldly power and foreign gods rather than relying on the invisible protection of God.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): یہوداہ اسیریا (اسور) کی فوجی طاقت، ان کے حکمرانوں کے شاندار لباس اور ان کے ٹھاٹھ باٹھ پر فریفتہ ہو گئی۔ “خوبصورت سواروں” اور “دلکش نوجوانوں” کی یہ تمثیل ظاہر کرتی ہے کہ یہوداہ خدا کی غیبی حفاظت پر بھروسہ کرنے کے بجائے دنیاوی طاقت، چمک دمک اور بت پرست قوموں کے دباؤ سے مرعوب ہو گئی تھی۔

Ezekiel 23:13

Verse: Then I saw that she was defiled that they took both one way

  • English Explanation: God observed that Judah had completely defiled herself spiritually. Both sisters (Israel and Judah) ended up walking the exact same path of spiritual corruption, treason against God, and moral decay.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): خدا نے دیکھا کہ یہوداہ بھی مکمل طور پر ناپاک ہو چکی ہے۔ دونوں بہنوں (اسرائیل اور یہوداہ) نے ایک ہی راستہ چنا—یعنی خدا سے بے وفائی، بت پرستی، اور اخلاقی زوال کا راستہ۔ ان دونوں کا انجام اور روش ایک جیسی ہو گئی۔

Ezekiel 23:14

Verse: And that she increased her whoredoms for when she saw men pourtrayed upon the wall the images of the Chaldeans pourtrayed with vermilion

  • English Explanation: Judah’s spiritual unfaithfulness grew even deeper. She became captivated merely by looking at the brightly colored (vermilion) wall paintings and carvings of the Chaldeans (Babylonians). This highlights how temptation entered through her eyes, sparking a desire for alliances with Babylon.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): یہوداہ کی روحانی بے وفائی مزید بڑھ گئی۔ وہ صرف دیواروں پر بنے ہوئے کلدانیوں (بابلیوں) کے سرخ رنگ کے نقش و نگار اور تصویریں دیکھ کر ہی ان کی گرویدہ ہو گئی۔ یہ اس بات کی طرف اشارہ ہے کہ کس طرح گناہ اور دنیاوی رغبت انسان کی آنکھوں کے راستے دل میں داخل ہوتی ہے۔

Ezekiel 23:15

Verse: Girded with girdles upon their loins exceeding in dyed attire upon their heads all of them princes to look to after the manner of the Babylonians of Chaldea the land of their nativity

  • English Explanation: The scripture describes the majestic and royal appearance of the Babylonian images—wearing rich belts and elaborate turbans. They looked like ruling princes, which deeply impressed Judah and lured her into seeking their favor and culture instead of keeping her unique covenant with God.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): یہ آیت بابلیوں کے شاہانہ اور پروقار لباس کا ذکر کرتی ہے جن کی کمر پر پٹکے اور سروں پر رنگ برنگے عمامے تھے۔ وہ دیکھنے میں شہزادے معلوم ہوتے تھے۔ ان کی اس شان و شوکت نے یہوداہ کو اس حد تک متاثر کیا کہ وہ خدا کے ساتھ اپنے عہد کو بھول کر ان جیسی بننے کی کوشش کرنے لگی۔

Ezekiel 23:16

Verse: And as soon as she saw them with her eyes she doted upon them and sent messengers unto them into Chaldea

  • English Explanation: The infatuation was immediate. As soon as Judah saw these representations, she sent political envoys to Chaldea (Babylon) to secure diplomatic and military alliances, effectively rejecting God’s sovereignty.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): یہ رغبت فوری تھی۔ جیسے ہی یہوداہ نے ان کی تصویروں کو دیکھا، وہ ان پر عاشق ہو گئی اور اس نے بابلیوں کے ساتھ سیاسی اور عسکری اتحاد قائم کرنے کے لیے اپنے قاصد کلدیر (بابل) روانہ کر دیے، جو کہ دراصل خدا کی حاکمیت کا انکار تھا۔

Ezekiel 23:17

Verse: And the Babylonians came to her into the bed of love and they defiled her with their whoredom and she was polluted with them and her mind was alienated from them

  • English Explanation: The Babylonians accepted the alliance, bringing their idolatrous practices into the heart of Judah. However, this sinful union quickly turned sour. Judah became disgusted and spiritually alienated from her new allies, realizing too late the toxic nature of her choices.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): بابلیوں نے اس اتحاد کو قبول کیا اور یہوداہ کے ساتھ شریک ہو کر اسے اپنی بت پرستی سے ناپاک کر دیا۔ لیکن اس گناہ آلود تعلق کا انجام یہ ہوا کہ جلد ہی یہوداہ کا دل ان سے بھر گیا اور وہ ان سے متنفر ہو گئی، کیونکہ دنیاوی اور گناہ کے تعلقات کبھی دیرپا سکون نہیں دیتے۔

Ezekiel 23:18

Verse: So she discovered her whoredoms and discovered her nakedness then my mind was alienated from her like as my mind was alienated from her sister

  • English Explanation: Judah openly flaunted her idolatry and moral nakedness without shame. Consequently, God’s soul became alienated from her, turning away His presence and protection just as He had previously done with her northern sister, Samaria.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): یہوداہ نے کھلم کھلا اپنی روحانی بدکاری اور بے حیائی کا مظاہرہ کیا۔ نتیجہ یہ ہوا کہ خدا کا دل بھی اس سے بیزار ہو گیا اور خدا نے اپنی برکت اور حفاظت اس سے اٹھا لی، بالکل اسی طرح جیسے اس نے اس کی بڑی بہن سامریہ کے ساتھ کیا تھا۔

Ezekiel 23:19

Verse: Yet she multiplied her whoredoms in calling to remembrance the days of her youth wherein she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt

  • English Explanation: Despite the growing conflict, Judah doubled down on her unfaithfulness. She reminisced about her ancient roots of idolatry back when she was in Egypt, returning to the very sins God had delivered her from centuries prior.

Ezekiel 23:20

Verse: For she doted upon their paramours whose flesh is as the flesh of asses and whose issue is like the issue of horses

  • English Explanation: Using highly graphic and provocative prophetic metaphors, God describes Judah’s lust for pagan nations. Comparing their physical attributes to donkeys and horses symbolizes the wild, unbridled, and beastly nature of foreign idolatrous passions that Judah preferred over God.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): خدا نے نہایت سخت اور علامتی زبان استعمال کرتے ہوئے یہوداہ کی غیر قوموں کے لیے ہوس کا ذکر کیا ہے۔ ان کا موازنہ گدھوں اور گھوڑوں سے کرنا اس بات کی علامت ہے کہ یہوداہ خدا کو چھوڑ کر وحشیانہ، بے لگام اور غیر اخلاقی بت پرستانہ نظام کی طرف راغب ہو چکی تھی۔

Ezekiel 23:21

Verse: Thus thou calledst to remembrance the lewdness of thy youth in bruising thy teats by the Egyptians for the paps of thy youth

  • English Explanation: Judah longed for the spiritual and political dependencies of her past, willfully choosing to revive the corruption she practiced during her early days as a nation in Egypt.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): اس طرح تو نے اپنی جوانی کی بدکاریوں کو دوبارہ تازہ کیا، جب مصر میں تیری ابتدا ہوئی تھی اور تو نے ان کے باطل خداؤں کے سامنے گھٹنے ٹیکے تھے۔ تو نے اپنے پرانے گناہوں کی لزب کو دوبارہ اپنا لیا۔

Ezekiel 23:22

Verse: Therefore O Aholibah thus saith the Lord GOD Behold I will raise up thy lovers against thee from whom thy mind is alienated and I will bring them against thee on every side

  • English Explanation: God pronounces judgment: The very foreign nations Judah lusted after and later grew sick of (her “lovers”) will be raised up by God to become her fierce enemies, attacking her borders from every single direction.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): اس لیے اے اہلیباہ! خداوند خدا یوں فرماتا ہے: دیکھ، میں تیرے انہی عاشقوں (اتحادیوں) کو تیرے خلاف کھڑا کروں گا جن سے اب تیرا دل بیزار ہو چکا ہے، اور میں انہیں ہر طرف سے تیرے خلاف چڑھا لوں گا۔

Ezekiel 23:23

Verse: The Babylonians and all the Chaldeans Pekod and Shoa and Koa and all the Assyrians with them all of them desirable young men captains and rulers great lords and renowned all of them riding upon horses

  • English Explanation: God names the invading coalition explicitly: Babylonians, Chaldeans, various regional tribes (Pekod, Shoa, Koa), and the Assyrians. The very men she admired for their stature and military prowess will now come as a united destroying force.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): خدا حملہ آور لشکر کا نام لے کر بتاتا ہے: بابلی، کلدانی، پقود، سوع اور قوع کے قبائل، اور ان کے ساتھ اسیریا کے لوگ۔ وہ تمام دلکش نوجوان، حاکم اور نامور سردار جن کی شان و شوکت پر یہوداہ فخر کرتی تھی، اب ایک تباہ کن فوج بن کر آئیں گے۔

Ezekiel 23:24

Verse: And they shall come against thee with chariots wagons and wheels and with an assembly of people which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about and I will set judgment before them and they shall judge thee according to their judgments

  • English Explanation: The enemy will arrive with massive military hardware—chariots, heavy wagons, and armored infantry. God states that He will hand the execution of judgment over to them, allowing them to punish Judah according to their brutal pagan standards of warfare.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): وہ تیرے خلاف رتھوں، گاڑیوں، پہیوں اور ایک بہت بڑی بھیڑ کے ساتھ آئیں گے جو ہر طرف سے ڈھالیں اور خود (ہیلمٹ) سجائے ہوں گے۔ خدا فرماتا ہے کہ میں انصاف کا اختیار ان کے ہاتھ میں دے دوں گا اور وہ اپنے ظالمانہ قوانین کے مطابق تجھ پر حکم چلائیں گے اور سزا دیں گے۔

Ezekiel 23:25

Verse: And I will set my jealousy against thee and they shall deal furiously with thee they shall take away thy nose and thine ears and thy remnant shall fall by the sword they shall take thy sons and thy daughters and thy residue shall be devoured by the fire

  • English Explanation: God’s holy jealousy reacts against Judah’s betrayal. The invading armies will perform ancient mutilations (cutting off noses and ears, a historic punishment for adulteresses) symbolizing total humiliation, while her children are captured and her remains burned.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): خدا فرماتا ہے کہ میری غیرت تیرے خلاف بھڑکے گی اور وہ غصے میں تیرے ساتھ سنگدلانہ سلوک کریں گے۔ وہ تیرے ناک اور کان کاٹ ڈالیں گے (جو قدیم دور میں بدکار عورتوں کو رسوا کرنے کی سزا تھی)۔ تیرے بچے قید کر لیے جائیں گے اور جو کچھ باقی بچے گا اسے آگ جھلسا دے گی۔

Ezekiel 23:26

Verse: They shall also strip thee out of thy clothes and take away thy fair jewels

  • English Explanation: Judah will be thoroughly stripped of her wealth, dignity, and national glory. The “clothes” and “fair jewels” represent the temple treasures and national riches that Babylon plundered.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): وہ تیرے کپڑے اتار دیں گے اور تیرے قیمتی زیورات چھین لیں گے۔ یہ زیورات اور لباس یہوداہ کی دولت، ہیکل کے خزانے اور اس کی قومی شان و شوکت کی علامت ہیں جنہیں بابل لوٹ کر لے جائے گا۔

Ezekiel 23:27

Verse: Thus will I make thy lewdness to cease from thee and thy whoredom brought from the land of Egypt so that thou shalt not lift up thine eyes unto them nor remember Egypt any more

  • English Explanation: This severe judgment serves a refining purpose. It will permanently cure Judah of her dependency on foreign gods and alliances, breaking the ancient habit of spiritual infidelity that started in Egypt.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): اس سخت سزا کا مقصد یہوداہ کی اصلاح کرنا ہے۔ خدا فرماتا ہے کہ اس طرح میں تیری اس بدکاری اور مصر کے وقت سے چلی آ رہی بت پرستی کا ہمیشہ کے لیے خاتمہ کر دوں گا، تاکہ تو دوبارہ کبھی ان کی طرف آنکھ اٹھا کر نہ دیکھے۔

Ezekiel 23:28

Verse: For thus saith the Lord GOD Behold I will deliver thee into the hand of them whom thou hatest into the hand of them from whom thy mind is alienated

  • English Explanation: God reiterates the irony of the punishment: Judah will be handed over directly to the power of the Babylonians—the very people she once allied with but now fears and detests.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): خداوند خدا فرماتا ہے: دیکھ، میں تجھے ان لوگوں کے ہاتھ میں سونپ دوں گا جن سے تو اب نفرت کرتی ہے اور جن سے تیرا دل بالکل بیزار ہو چکا ہے، یعنی تیرے سابقہ اتحادی ہی تیرے جلاد بنیں گے۔

Ezekiel 23:29

Verse: And they shall deal with thee hatefully and shall take away all thy labour and shall leave thee naked and bare and the nakedness of thy whoredoms shall be discovered both thy lewdness and thy whoredoms

  • English Explanation: The conquerors will treat Judah with absolute malice, seizing the fruits of all her hard labor and leaving the nation completely exposed, ruined, and publically humiliated for her sins.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): وہ تیرے ساتھ سخت دشمنی کا برتاؤ کریں گے، تیری محنت کی تمام کمائی لوٹ لیں گے اور تجھے بالکل ننگا اور بے یار و مددگار چھوڑ دیں گے۔ تیری روحانی بدکاری اور شرمناک گناہ پوری دنیا کے سامنے عیاں ہو جائیں گے۔

Ezekiel 23:30

Verse: I will do these things unto thee because thou hast gone a whoring after the heathen and because thou art polluted with their idols

  • English Explanation: The foundational reason for this catastrophic judgment is clearly restated: Judah chose to follow the ways of pagan nations and contaminated her spiritual purity with their worthless idols.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): خدا واضح طور پر اس عذاب کی وجہ بتاتا ہے: میں یہ سب کچھ تجھ پر اس لیے لاؤں گا کیونکہ تو نے غیر قوموں کے پیچھے چل کر روحانی زنا کیا اور ان کے بتوں کی پوجا کر کے خود کو ناپاک کیا۔

Ezekiel 23:31

Verse: Thou hast walked in the way of thy sister therefore will I give her cup into thine hand

  • English Explanation: Because Judah repeated the same sinful patterns as her sister Samaria, she must drink from the same “cup”—a biblical metaphor for inheriting the exact same divine wrath and destruction.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): چونکہ تو اپنی بہن (سامریہ) کی راہ پر چلی، اس لیے میں اس کی سزا کا پیالہ تیرے ہاتھ میں دوں گا۔ یہ پیالہ خدا کے غضب اور عدالت کی علامت ہے۔

Ezekiel 23:32

Verse: Thus saith the Lord GOD Thou shalt drink of thy sister’s cup deep and large thou shalt be laughed to scorn and had in derision it containeth much

  • English Explanation: The cup of judgment waiting for Judah is massive and deep. Drinking it means facing extreme devastation, leading neighboring nations to mock, ridicule, and laugh at Judah’s spectacular fall.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): خداوند خدا فرماتا ہے: تو اپنی بہن کی سزا کا گہرا اور بڑا پیالہ پیے گی۔ تو ہنسی اور تمسخر کا نشانہ بنے گی کیونکہ اس پیالے میں تیرے لیے بہت بڑی عذاب کی مقدار موجود ہے۔

Ezekiel 23:33

Verse: Thou shalt be filled with drunkenness and sorrow with the cup of astonishment and desolation with the cup of thy sister Samaria

  • English Explanation: The effects of this judgment will leave the nation staggered with grief, mental anguish, and utter confusion (drunkenness). It is a cup filled to the brim with horror, ruin, and desolation.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): تو دکھ، صدمے اور پریشانی سے نڈھال (مست) ہو جائے گی۔ یہ پیالہ سراسر عبرت، ویرانی اور تباہی کا پیالہ ہے، بالکل ویسا ہی جیسا تیری بہن سامریہ کو ملا تھا۔

Ezekiel 23:34

Verse: Thou shalt even drink it and suck it out and thou shalt break the sherds thereof and pluck off thine own breasts for I have spoken it saith the Lord GOD

  • English Explanation: Judah will be forced to drain this cup of wrath down to its very dregs. In her madness, agony, and self-loathing from the judgment, she will gnaw at the broken pieces of the cup and tear at herself, symbolizing complete despair. God guarantees the certainty of this decree.

  • Urdu Explanation (اردو وضاحت): تو اس غضب کے پیالے کو آخری قطرے تک پینے پر مجبور ہو جائے گی، یہاں تک کہ تو شدّتِ درد اور پاگل پن میں اس کے ٹکروں کو چبائے گی اور خود کو نوچے گی۔ یہ شدید ترین مایوسی اور پچھتاوے کی انتہا ہوگی کیونکہ خداوند خدا نے یہ فرما دیا ہے اور یہ ہو کر رہے گا۔
