Ezekiel 3:9

Verse: As an adamant harder than flint have I made thy forehead fear them not neither be dismayed at their looks though they be a rebellious house

  • English Explanation: God promises to give Ezekiel supernatural resilience. An “adamant” (often associated with diamond) is harder than flint stone. God is telling the prophet that even though the people of Israel are stubborn and hard-headed, He has made Ezekiel’s resolve even harder. He is commanded not to be intimidated by their angry stares or hostile reactions, as their rebellion does not change God’s truth.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): خدا حزقی ایل نبی کو غیر معمولی ہمت اور مضبوطی دینے کا وعدہ فرما رہا ہے۔ “ہیرا” یا “سخت پتھر” جو چقمق سے زیادہ سخت ہو، اس سے مراد یہ ہے کہ اگرچہ بنی اسرائیل ضدی اور سخت دل ہیں، لیکن خدا نے حزقی ایل کے ارادے کو ان سے زیادہ مضبوط بنا دیا ہے۔ خدا انہیں حکم دیتا ہے کہ وہ لوگوں کے غصیلے چہروں اور مخالفت سے خوفزدہ نہ ہوں، کیونکہ ان کی بغاوت خدا کے کلام کو نہیں بدل سکتی۔

Ezekiel 3:10

Verse: Moreover he said unto me Son of man all my words that I shall speak unto thee receive in thine heart and hear with thine ears

God instructs Ezekiel to listen carefully with his ears and let the divine words sink deeply into his heart. It emphasizes true comprehension and personal transformation before public ministry.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): خدا حزقی ایل سے فرماتا ہے کہ دوسروں کو پیغام دینے سے پہلے ضروری ہے کہ وہ خود اس کلام کو اپنے اندر جذب کریں۔ خدا ہدایت دیتا ہے کہ وہ کان لگا کر سنیں اور خدا کے الفاظ کو اپنے دل کی گہرائیوں میں اتار لیں۔ یہ آیت ظاہر کرتی ہے کہ منادی کرنے سے پہلے خود کلام پر ایمان لانا اور اسے سمجھنا کتنا ضروری ہے۔

Ezekiel 3:11

Verse: And go get thee to them of the captivity unto the children of thy people and speak unto them and tell them Thus saith the Lord GOD whether they will hear or whether they will forbear

  • English Explanation: Ezekiel is sent specifically to his own exiled countrymen in Babylon. His core duty is not to ensure that they change, but to deliver God’s message faithfully.   • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): حزقی ایل کو بابل میں موجود اپنے ہی قیدی ہم وطنوں کے پاس بھیجا جا رہا ہے۔ ان کی اصل ذمہ داری لوگوں کو زبردستی بدلنا نہیں، بلکہ وفاداری کے ساتھ خدا کا پیغام پہنچانا ہے۔ چاہے لوگ سنیں یا نہ سنیں، حزقی ایل کا کام یہی کہنا ہے کہ “خداوند خدا یوں فرماتا ہے”۔

Ezekiel 3:12

Verse: Then the spirit took me up and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing saying Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place

  • English Explanation: The Holy Spirit physically and spiritually lifts Ezekiel to transport him to his place of ministry. As he is moved, he hears a powerful, thunderous sound behind him. This magnificent sound is accompanied by voices praising God, declaring the holiness and glory of the Lord from His heavenly dwelling.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): پاک روح حزقی ایل کو جسمانی اور روحانی طور پر اٹھاتی ہے تاکہ انہیں ان کی خدمت کی جگہ پر لے جائے۔ جیسے ہی وہ آگے بڑھتے ہیں، انہیں اپنے پیچھے ایک گرجدار اور زبردست آواز سنائی دیتی ہے۔ یہ شاندار آواز خدا کی حمد و ثنا کرتی ہے کہ خداوند کا جلال اس کے مقدس مقام سے مبارک ہو۔

Ezekiel 3:13

Verse: I heard also the noise of the wings of the living creatures that touched one another and the noise of the wheels over against them and a noise of a great rushing

  • English Explanation: This verse describes the majestic and awe-inspiring sounds of the heavenly chariot chariot throne. Ezekiel hears the flapping of the wings of the living creatures (cherubim) as they brush against each other, alongside the rumbling of the divine wheels moving in perfect synchronization. It signifies that God’s presence is dynamically moving with him.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): اس آیت میں آسمانی رتھ اور جانداروں کی ہیبت ناک آوازوں کا ذکر ہے۔ حزقی ایل جانداروں (کروبیوں) کے پروں کی آواز سنتے ہیں جو ایک دوسرے سے ٹکراتے ہیں، اور ان کے ساتھ ہی الٰہی پہیوں کی گرجدار آواز بھی سنائی دیتی ہے جو کامل ہم آہنگی کے ساتھ چل رہے ہیں۔ یہ اس بات کی علامت ہے کہ خدا کا جلال ان کے ساتھ حرکت کر رہا ہے۔

Ezekiel 3:14

Verse: So the spirit lifted me up and took me away and I went in bitterness in the heat of my spirit but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me

  • English Explanation: Ezekiel experiences a complex mix of human emotion and divine compulsion. He goes in “bitterness” and “heat of spirit,” reflecting his distress over Israel’s sins and the heavy judgment he has to proclaim. However, human reluctance is overcome because the sovereign hand and power of God are heavily upon him, forcing him forward.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): حزقی ایل یہاں انسانی جذبات اور الٰہی دباؤ کے امتزاج کو محسوس کرتے ہیں۔ وہ “تلخی اور روح کی تپش” کے ساتھ جاتے ہیں، جو اسرائیل کے گناہوں اور اس سخت عدالت کی وجہ سے ہے جس کی انہوں نے منادی کرنی تھی۔ تاہم، ان کی انسانی ہچکچاہٹ پر خدا کا قدرت والا ہاتھ غالب آ جاتا ہے اور انہیں آگے بڑھنے کی قوت دیتا ہے۔

Ezekiel 3:15

Verse: Then I came to them of the captivity at Tel-abib that dwelt by the river of Chebar and I sat where they sat and remained there astonished among them seven days

  • English Explanation: Ezekiel arrives at Tel-abib near the Chebar River, where the Jewish exiles lived. Instead of immediately preaching, he sits silently among them for seven days in a state of shock and grief. Ezekiel 3:16

Verse: And it came to pass at the end of seven days that the word of the LORD came unto me saying

  • English Explanation: After the symbolic seven days of silent mourning and preparation, the time for silence ends. The divine word of God breaks into Ezekiel’s consciousness, marking the official beginning of his active prophetic warnings to the exiles.

Ezekiel 3:17

Verse: Son of man I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel therefore hear the word at my mouth and give them warning from me

  • Explanation: God formally appoints Ezekiel as a “watchman” over Israel. Historically, a watchman stood on city walls to scan the horizon for approaching enemies and sound the alarm. Ezekiel’s spiritual duty is to listen directly to God’s words and immediately sound the spiritual alarm to warn the people of incoming divine judgment.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): خدا حزقی ایل کو اسرائیل کا “نگہبان” (چوکیدار) مقرر کرتا ہے۔ قدیم دور میں، ایک چوکیدار شہر کی دیواروں پر کھڑا ہو کر دشمنوں پر نظر رکھتا تھا اور خطرے کے وقت نرسنگا پھونکتا تھا۔ حزقی ایل کا روحانی فرض یہ ہے کہ وہ خدا کے منہ سے کلام سنیں اور لوگوں کو آنے والی الٰہی عدالت سے خبردار کریں۔

Ezekiel 3:18

Verse: When I say unto the wicked Thou shalt surely die and thou givest him not warning nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way to save his life the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity but his blood will I require at thine hand

  • English Explanation: This outlines the terrifying accountability of the watchman. If God pronounces judgment on a wicked person and Ezekiel fails to speak up and warn them to repent, that wicked person will still die for their sins. However, God will hold Ezekiel personally guilty for their death, requiring their blood from his hands due to his silence.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): یہ آیت نگہبان کی بھاری ذمہ داری اور جوابدہی کو ظاہر کرتی ہے۔ اگر خدا کسی شریر کے لیے سزا کا حکم دے اور حزقی ایل اسے توبہ کرنے کے لیے خبردار نہ کرے، تو وہ شریر اپنے گناہ کی حالت میں مر جائے گا۔ لیکن خدا اس کی موت کا ذمہ دار حزقی ایل کو ٹھہرائے گا اور اس کے خون کا حساب حزقی ایل سے لے گا۔

Ezekiel 3:19

Verse: Yet if thou warn the wicked and he turn not from his wickedness nor from his wicked way he shall die in his iniquity but thou hast delivered thy soul

If Ezekiel faithfully delivers God’s warning to a wicked person, but that person stubbornly chooses to remain in their sin, the sinner will die in their guilt. Ezekiel, however, is completely cleared of blame; he has saved his own soul by fulfilling his divine assignment.

Ezekiel 3:20

Verse: Again When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness and commit iniquity and I lay a stumblingblock before him he shall die because thou hast not given him warning he shall die in his sin and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered but his blood will I require at thine hand

  • English Explanation: Even those who were once righteous can fall away. If a good person turns to sin and God places a trial (stumbling block) before them that exposes their apostasy, they will die in their sin, and their past good deeds will not save them. If Ezekiel fails to warn this falling righteous person, God will hold Ezekiel accountable for their blood.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): یہاں بتایا گیا ہے کہ ایک راستباز شخص بھی گمراہ ہو سکتا ہے۔ اگر کوئی اچھا انسان گناہ کی طرف مائل ہو جائے اور خدا اس کے سامنے آزمائش (ٹھوکر) رکھ دے جس سے اس کی گمراہی ظاہر ہو، تو وہ اپنے گناہ میں مرے گا اور اس کی پرانی نیکیادگار نہیں رہے گی۔ اگر حزقی ایل نے اسے نہ روکا، تو خدا حزقی ایل سے اس کے خون کا حساب لے گا۔

Ezekiel 3:21

Verse: Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man that the righteous sin not and he doth not sin he shall surely live because he is warned also thou hast delivered thy soul

  • English Explanation: This shows the ideal positive outcome of a watchman’s work. If Ezekiel warns a righteous person against falling into sin, and that person listens and remains faithful, that individual will live. Concurrently, Ezekiel successfully fulfills his duty and keeps his own soul clear before God.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): یہ آیت ایک نگہبان کی خدمت کے بہترین نتیجے کو ظاہر کرتی ہے۔ اگر حزقی ایل کسی راستباز کو گناہ سے باز رہنے کی تاکید کرتا ہے، اور وہ شخص نصیحت مان کر گناہ سے بچا رہتا ہے، تو وہ یقیناً زندہ رہے گا۔ اس کے ساتھ ہی حزقی ایل بھی خدا کے سامنے سرخرو ہو کر اپنی جان بچا لیں گے۔

Ezekiel 3:22

Verse: And the hand of the LORD was there upon me and he said unto me Arise go forth into the plain and I will there talk with thee

  • English Explanation: Once again, Ezekiel feels the powerful, guiding presence (“the hand”) of God upon him. God commands him to leave the residential camp of the exiles and go out into an isolated, open plain where God intends to reveal further private instructions to him.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): ایک بار پھر حزقی ایل اپنے اوپر خدا کے قدرت والے ہاتھ کی موجودگی کو محسوس کرتے ہیں۔ خدا انہیں حکم دیتا ہے کہ وہ اسیروں کی بستی سے نکل کر ایک ویران اور کھلے میدان میں چلے جائیں، جہاں خدا ان سے تنہائی میں کلام کرنا چاہتا ہے۔

Ezekiel 3:23

Verse: Then I arose and went forth into the plain and behold the glory of the LORD stood there as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar and I fell on my face

  • English Explanation: Ezekiel obeys and goes to the plain. There, he is met with the exact same brilliant, overwhelming manifestation of God’s magnificent glory that he had previously seen by the Chebar river. Overcome with deep reverence, awe, and humility, Ezekiel collapses face down on the ground.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): حزقی ایل فرمانبرداری کرتے ہوئے میدان میں چلے جاتے ہیں۔ وہاں انہیں خدا کے جلال کا وہی شاندار اور ہیبت ناک نظارہ دکھائی دیتا ہے جو انہوں نے دریائے کبار کے پاس دیکھا تھا۔ اس الٰہی رعب اور تعظیم سے مغلوب ہو کر حزقی ایل اوندھے منہ زمین پر گر پڑتے ہیں۔

Ezekiel 3:24

Verse: Then the spirit entered into me and set me upon my feet and spake with me and said unto me Go shut thyself within thine house

  • English Explanation: As Ezekiel lies prostrate, the Holy Spirit enters him, giving him physical strength to stand up on his feet. God then gives him a surprising command: to go home and shut himself inside his house, initiating a period of isolation from the public.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): جب حزقی ایل زمین پر گرے ہوئے تھے، پاک روح ان میں داخل ہوتی ہے اور انہیں اپنے پیروں پر کھڑا ہونے کی طاقت دیتی ہے۔ پھر خدا انہیں ایک حیران کن حکم دیتا ہے کہ وہ اپنے گھر جا کر اندر سے دروازہ بند کر لیں، جو کہ لوگوں سے الگ تھلگ ہونے کے دور کا آغاز تھا۔

Ezekiel 3:25

Verse: But thou O son of man behold they shall put bands upon thee and shall bind thee with them and thou shalt not go out among them

  • English Explanation: God warns Ezekiel of the upcoming physical restrictions and severe opposition he will experience. Whether through literal ropes used by hostile people or as a spiritual restraint imposed by God Himself, Ezekiel will be symbolically bound and restricted from roaming freely among the rebellious community.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): خدا حزقی ایل کو آنے والی مخالفت اور پابندیوں سے آگاہ کرتا ہے۔ چاہے لوگ انہیں حقیقی رسیوں سے باندھیں یا خدا کی طرف سے ان پر کوئی روحانی رکاوٹ ہو، حزقی ایل کو باندھ دیا جائے گا اور وہ اس سرکش قوم کے درمیان آزادی سے گھوم پھر نہیں سکیں گے۔

Ezekiel 3:26

Verse: And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth that thou shalt be dumb and shalt not be to them a reprover for they are a rebellious house

  • English Explanation: God states that He will cause Ezekiel’s tongue to stick to the roof of his mouth, rendering him temporarily mute. He will not be permitted to act as a daily counselor or rebuker to the house of Israel because they have reached a state of deep rebellion where normal preaching is no longer effective.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): خدا فرماتا ہے کہ وہ حزقی ایل کی زبان کو ان کے تالو سے چپکا دے گا جس سے وہ عارضی طور پر گونگے ہو جائیں گے۔ انہیں روزمرہ کے معاملات میں اسرائیل کو ٹوکنے یا نصیحت کرنے کی اجازت نہیں ہوگی، کیونکہ یہ قوم اس حد تک سرکش ہو چکی ہے کہ اب عام نصیحت ان پر اثر نہیں کرے گی۔

Ezekiel 3:27

Verse: But when I speak with thee I will open thy mouth and thou shalt say unto them Thus saith the Lord GOD He that heareth let him hear and he that forbeareth let him forbear for they are a rebellious house

  • English Explanation: Ezekiel’s speech will be entirely controlled by God. He will only speak when God directly opens his mouth to deliver a specific prophecy. When he does speak, the ultimate choice is left to the listeners: those who want to listen can listen, and those who want to refuse can refuse, emphasizing human free will against judgment.

  • Urdu Explanation (تفصیل): حزقی ایل کی گفتگو اب مکمل طور پر خدا کے کنٹرول میں ہوگی۔ وہ صرف اسی وقت بولیں گے جب خدا خود ان کا منہ کھولے گا تاکہ وہ کوئی خاص نبوت پہنچائیں۔ جب وہ بولیں گے، تو فیصلہ سننے والوں پر ہوگا: جو سننا چاہے سن لے، اور جو انکار کرنا چاہے کر دے، کیونکہ وہ ایک سرکش گھرانا ہیں۔

Ezekiel 4:1

Verse: Thou also son of man take thee a tile and lay it before thee and pourtray upon it the city even Jerusalem

  • English Explanation: Transitioning into Chapter 4, God commands Ezekiel to perform a series of prophetic acted out signs. He is told to take a soft clay brick or tile, place it on the ground before him, and draw or engrave an outline representing the capital city of Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 4:2

Verse: And lay siege against it and build a fort against it and cast a mount against it set the camp also against it and set battering rams against it round about

  • English Explanation: Ezekiel is instructed to build a miniature, realistic model of a military assault around his drawn city. He must build tiny siege walls, dirt ramps, military camps, and battering rams around the tile. This acted out sign was a vivid prophecy of the Babylonians coming to destroy Jerusalem.

Ezekiel 4:3

Verse: Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city and set thy face against it and it shall be besieged and thou shalt lay siege against it This shall be a sign to the house of Israel

  • English Explanation: Ezekiel must place an iron cooking griddle between himself and the model city, acting as an impenetrable wall. This represents two things: the absolute barrier created by sin between God and Jerusalem, and the unbreakable determination of the besieging army.
