Jeremiah 7:27
Verse: Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them but they will not hearken to thee thou shalt also call unto them but they will not answer thee
English Explanation: God warns the prophet Jeremiah beforehand about the stubbornness of the people. Even though Jeremiah is commanded to deliver the divine message faithfully, the people of Judah have hardened their hearts so deeply that they will refuse to listen or respond. This highlights the tragic reality of a people completely unreceptive to truth and repentance.
Urdu Explanation: خداوند یرمیاہ نبی کو پہلے سے ہی لوگوں کی سخت دلی کے بارے میں مطلع کر رہا ہے۔ اگرچہ یرمیاہ کو خدا کا پیغام پوری وفاداری سے سنانے کا حکم دیا گیا ہے، لیکن یہوداہ کے لوگ اپنے گناہوں میں اس قدر سخت ہو چکے ہیں کہ وہ نہ تو سنیں گے اور نہ ہی کوئی جواب دیں گے۔ یہ اس قوم کی افسوسناک حالت کو ظاہر کرتا ہے جو توبہ اور سچائی سے مکمل طور پر منہ موڑ چکی ہے۔
Jeremiah 7:28
Verse: But thou shalt say unto them This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God nor receiveth correction truth is perished and is cut off from their mouth
English Explanation: This verse serves as a formal indictment against Judah. They are characterized as a nation that fundamentally rejects God’s authority and refuses any form of discipline or correction. Deceit has so thoroughly overtaken them that truth has completely vanished from their thoughts and speech.

Jeremiah 7:29
Verse: Cut off thine hair O Jerusalem and cast it away and take up a lamentation on high places for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath
English Explanation: Cutting off one’s hair was a traditional sign of deep mourning, shame, and Nazirite defilement. Jerusalem is commanded to mourn openly because their persistent rebellion has led to a point of no return—the Lord has rejected this current generation, leaving them to face His righteous anger.
Urdu Explanation: سر کے بال کاٹنا یا منڈوانا گہرے ماتم، شرمندگی اور ناپاک ہو جانے کی روایتی علامت تھا۔ یروشلم کو حکم دیا جا رہا ہے کہ وہ کھلے عام ماتم کرے کیونکہ ان کی مسلسل بغاوت انہیں واپسی کے راستے سے دور لے گئی ہے—خداوند نے اس دور کی نسل کو مسترد کر دیا ہے اور انہیں اپنے شدید غضب کے لیے چھوڑ دیا ہے۔
Jeremiah 7:30
Verse: For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight saith the LORD they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name to pollute it
English Explanation: The core reason for God’s anger is revealed here. The people did not just commit sins in private; they brought blasphemous pagan idols right into the Holy Temple of Jerusalem—the very place dedicated to the name of Yahweh—thereby directly defiling His sacred sanctuary.
Urdu Explanation: خدا کے غضب کی اصل وجہ یہاں ظاہر کی گئی ہے۔ لوگوں نے نہ صرف تنہائی میں گناہ کیے، بلکہ انہوں نے مکروہ بتوں کو لے جا کر یروشلم کے ہیکل کے اندر رکھ دیا—وہ ہیکل جو خدا کے پاک نام سے منسوب تھا—اور اس طرح انہوں نے خدا کی پاک ترین جگہ کی بے حرمتی کی۔
Jeremiah 7:31
Verse: And they have built the high places of Tophet which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire which I commanded them not neither came it into my heart
English Explanation: The people reached a horrific low by participating in child sacrifice to the pagan god Molech at Tophet in the Valley of Hinnom. God forcefully denounces this atrocious act, stating that such a sickening practice never commanded by Him, nor did it ever cross His mind as something acceptable.
Urdu Explanation: لوگ ہنوم کے بیٹے کی وادی میں واقع ‘توپت’ کے مقام پر بتوں (جیسے ملک دیوتا) کے لیے اپنے ہی بیٹوں اور بیٹیوں کو آگ میں جلا کر قربان کرنے کے گھناؤنے گناہ میں ملوث تھے۔ خدا اس بھیانک فعل کی سخت مذمت کرتا ہے اور فرماتا ہے کہ نہ تو اس نے کبھی ایسا حکم دیا اور نہ ہی یہ بات کبھی اس کے دل و دماغ میں آئی۔
Jeremiah 7:32
Verse: Therefore behold the days come saith the LORD that it shall no more be called Tophet nor the valley of the son of Hinnom but the valley of slaughter for they shall bury in Tophet till there be no place
English Explanation: Because of this terrible sin, God declares a poetic justice. The place where they slaughtered their own children will become the place of their own mass demise. The Valley of Hinnom will be renamed the “Valley of Slaughter” because so many will die during the upcoming Babylonian siege that graves will overflow.
Urdu Explanation: اس ہولناک گناہ کی وجہ سے خدا عبرت ناک انصاف کا اعلان کرتا ہے۔ وہ جگہ جہاں وہ اپنے معصوم بچوں کو ذبح کرتے تھے، خود ان کی اپنی ہلاکت کی جگہ بن جائے گی۔ ہنوم کی وادی کا نام بدل کر “قتل کی وادی” رکھ دیا جائے گا کیونکہ آنے والے بابل کے محاصرے میں اتنے لوگ مریں گے کہ وہاں دفن کرنے کی جگہ بھی کم پڑ جائے گی۔
Jeremiah 7:33
Verse: And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven and for the beasts of the earth and none shall fray them away
English Explanation: In ancient near-eastern culture, leaving a body unburied to be eaten by scavengers was the ultimate disgrace. God warns that the dead bodies of the people will lie exposed on the ground, serving as food for birds and wild animals, with no survivors left to scare the beasts away.
Urdu Explanation: قدیم تہذیب میں لاش کا بے گوروکفن پڑے رہنا اور جانوروں کا اسے کھانا سب سے بڑی ذلت سمجھا جاتا تھا۔ خدا خبردار کرتا ہے کہ اس قوم کی لاشیں زمین پر کھلی پڑی رہیں گی جو آسمان کے پرندوں اور زمین کے درندوں کی خوراک بنیں گی، اور کوئی زندہ ایسا نہیں بچے گا جو ان جانوروں کو وہاں سے بھگا سکے۔
Jeremiah 7:34
Verse: Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride for the land shall be desolate
English Explanation: The judgment will completely wipe out the social fabric of society. All sounds of normal human joy, everyday celebrations, weddings, and happiness will fall completely silent. The entire land of Judah will turn into a silent, ruined wasteland.
Urdu Explanation: خدا کا یہ انصاف معاشرے کے تانے بانے کو مکمل طور پر تباہ کر دے گا۔ عام انسانی خوشیوں، روزمرہ کے جشن، اور شادی بیاہ کی تمام آوازیں ہمیشہ کے لیے خاموش ہو جائیں گی۔ یہوداہ اور یروشلم کی سرزمین مکمل طور پر ویران اور سنسان ہو جائے گی۔
Jeremiah 8:1
Verse: At that time saith the LORD they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah and the bones of his princes and the bones of the priests and the bones of the prophets and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem out of their graves
English Explanation: The conquering Babylonian army will show no respect even for the dead. Seeking wealth, treasures, or simply aiming to humiliate the defeated nation, they will desecrate graves across all classes of society—from kings and priests down to ordinary citizens.
Urdu Explanation: فتح پانے والی بابل کی فوج مردوں کا بھی کوئی احترام نہیں کرے گی۔ خزانے کی تلاش میں یا صرف اس مغلوب قوم کو ذلیل کرنے کے لیے، وہ معاشرے کے تمام طبقات—بادشاہوں، کاہنوں، نبیوں اور عام شہریوں کی قبروں کو کھود کر ان کی ہڈیاں باہر نکال پھینکیں گے۔
Jeremiah 8:2
Verse: And they shall spread them before the sun and the moon and all the host of heaven whom they have loved and whom they have served and after whom they have walked and whom they have sought and whom they have worshipped they shall not be gathered nor be buried they shall be for dung upon the face of the earth
English Explanation: This verse contains deep irony. The bones of the idolaters will be left exposed under the sun, moon, and stars—the very celestial bodies they chose to worship instead of God. These helpless astral entities will not be able to protect or save the remains of their worshippers, leaving them to rot like fertilizer on the ground.
Urdu Explanation: اس آیت میں ایک گہرا طنز پایا جاتا ہے۔ بت پرستوں کی ہڈیاں سورج، چاند اور ستاروں کے سامنے کھلی پڑی رہیں گی—یہ وہی فلکیاتی اجسام ہیں جن کی انہوں نے سچے خدا کو چھوڑ کر پوجا کی تھی۔ یہ بے بس معبود اپنے پوجنے والوں کی ہڈیوں کو کوئی تحفظ نہیں دے سکیں گے، اور وہ ہڈیاں زمین پر گوبر کی طرح سڑنے کے لیے پڑی رہیں گی۔
Jeremiah 8:3
Verse: And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family which remain in all the places whither I have driven them saith the LORD of hosts
English Explanation: For those few who survive the slaughter and are taken away into exile, life will become so unbearably miserable, painful, and filled with humiliation that they will constantly wish for death rather than continuing to live as captives in foreign lands.
Urdu Explanation: جو چند لوگ اس قتلِ عام سے بچ جائیں گے اور انہیں جلاوطن کر دیا جائے گا، ان کی زندگی اس قدر ناگوار، تکلیف دہ اور ذلت آمیز ہو جائے گی کہ وہ غیر ممالک میں قیدی بن کر جینے پر موت کو ترجیح دیں گے۔
Jeremiah 8:4
Verse: Moreover thou shalt say unto them Thus saith the LORD Shall they fall and not arise shall he turn away and not return
English Explanation: God uses a common-sense analogy here. In everyday life, if a person trips and falls, they naturally try to get back up. If a traveler realizes they are going the wrong way, they turn back. God asks why Judah does not follow this basic human logic when it comes to their spiritual life.
Urdu Explanation: خدا یہاں ایک عام فہم مثال استعمال کرتا ہے۔ روزمرہ کی زندگی میں اگر کوئی انسان گر جاتا ہے، تو وہ قدرتی طور پر دوبارہ اٹھنے کی کوشش کرتا ہے۔ اگر کوئی مسافر راستہ بھول جائے تو وہ واپس مڑتا ہے۔ خدا سوال کرتا ہے کہ یہوداہ کے لوگ اپنی روحانی زندگی کے معاملے میں اس بنیادی انسانی منطق پر کیوں عمل نہیں کر رہے؟
Jeremiah 8:5
Verse: Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding they hold fast deceit they refuse to return
English Explanation: Unlike the person who falls and gets up, Jerusalem is stuck in a state of continuous, unending spiritual rebellion. They deliberately cling to falsehoods, illusions, and false gods, completely refusing to return to the covenant relationship with their true Creator.
Urdu Explanation: اس شخص کے برعکس جو گر کر اٹھتا ہے، یروشلم کے لوگ مسلسل اور کبھی نہ ختم ہونے والی روحانی گمراخی میں پھنسے ہوئے ہیں۔ انہوں نے جان بوجھ کر جھوٹ اور باطل معبودوں کو مضبوطی سے پکڑ رکھا ہے اور وہ اپنے حقیقی خالق کے پاس واپس لوٹنے سے صاف انکار کرتے ہیں۔
Jeremiah 8:6
Verse: I hearkened and heard but they spake not aright no man repented him of his wickedness saying What have I done every one turned to his course as the horse rusheth into the battle
Explanation (English): God describes Himself as listening intently, hoping to hear even a whisper of genuine repentance. Instead, no one examines their conscience or asks “What have I done?” Instead, they blindly rush headlong into sin, just like a warhorse charging recklessly into battle without fear of the consequences.
Urdu Explanation: خدا خود کو ایک ایسے سننے والے کے طور پر بیان کرتا ہے جو اس امید میں کان لگائے ہوئے ہے کہ شاید کوئی سچی توبہ کی آواز سنائی دے۔ لیکن کوئی بھی اپنے ضمیر کو نہیں ٹٹولتا اور نہ ہی یہ کہتا ہے کہ “میں نے کیا کر ڈالا؟” اس کے برعکس، وہ سب گناہ کی طرف یوں اندھا دھند بھاگے جا رہے ہیں جیسے کوئی جنگی گھوڑا بغیر انجام کی پرواہ کیے لڑائی میں کود پڑتا ہے۔
Jeremiah 8:7
Verse: Yea the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming but my people know not the judgment of the LORD
English Explanation: God points to creation to shame His people. Migratory birds like storks, doves, cranes, and swallows instinctively know the seasons and follow God’s natural laws perfectly. Conversely, God’s chosen people, gifted with intellect and divine law, completely fail to recognize the signs of divine judgment and the moral order of God.
Urdu Explanation: خدا اپنی مخلوق کی مثال دے کر اپنے لوگوں کو شرمندہ کرتا ہے۔ ہجرت کرنے والے پرندے جیسے لک لک، فاختہ، سارس اور ابابیل اپنی جبلت کے مطابق موسموں کو پہچانتے ہیں اور خدا کے بنائے ہوئے قدرتی قوانین پر عمل کرتے ہیں۔ لیکن اس کے برعکس، خدا کے چنے ہوئے لوگ، جنہیں عقل اور الٰہی شریعت دی گئی تھی، خدا کے انصاف کے وقت اور اخلاقی قوانین کو پہچاننے میں مکمل طور پر ناکام رہے ہیں۔
Jeremiah 8:8
Verse: How do ye say We are wise and the law of the LORD is with us Lo certainly in vain made he it the pen of the scribes is in vain
English Explanation: The religious leaders and citizens falsely boasted that they possessed wisdom because they had the physical copies of the Law of Moses. God exposes their hypocrisy, stating that since they completely corrupt and ignore the spirit of the law, the work of the scribes who copied it has been made completely useless by their disobedience.
Urdu Explanation: مذہبی رہنما اور عوام جھوٹا فخر کرتے تھے کہ وہ عقلمند ہیں کیونکہ ان کے پاس موسیٰ کی شریعت موجود ہے۔ خدا ان کی منافقت کو بے نقاب کرتے ہوئے فرماتا ہے کہ جب وہ شریعت کی روح کو مسخ کر رہے ہیں اور اس پر عمل نہیں کر رہے، تو ان کاتبوں کا لکھنا بھی بے فائدہ ہو گیا ہے جنہوں نے اس شریعت کی نقول تیار کی تھیں۔
Jeremiah 8:9
Verse: The wise men are ashamed they are dismayed and taken lo they have rejected the word of the LORD and what wisdom is in them
English Explanation: Those who considered themselves intellectual and spiritually elite will be utterly humiliated and trapped by the coming disaster. God poses a rhetorical question: Since they have outright rejected the actual Word of the Lord, what real, lasting wisdom could they possibly possess? True wisdom cannot exist apart from God’s truth.
Urdu Explanation: جو لوگ خود کو دانشور اور روحانی طور پر اعلیٰ سمجھتے تھے، وہ آنے والی مصیبت میں شدید شرمندہ اور بے بس ہو جائیں گے۔ خدا ایک سوال پوچھتا ہے کہ جب انہوں نے خدا کے کلام ہی کو رد کر دیا، تو ان کے پاس کون سی حقیقی عقل باقی رہ سکتی ہے؟ خدا کی سچائی کے بغیر سچی حکمت کا وجود ممکن ہی نہیں۔
Jeremiah 8:10
Verse: Therefore will I give their wives unto others and their fields to them that shall inherit them for every one from the least even unto the greatest is given to covetousness from the prophet even unto the priest every one dealeth falsely
English Explanation: Because corruption is systematic—affecting everyone from the poorest citizen to the highest religious official—the punishment will be total. Their most personal and valuable earthly possessions, including their families and ancestral lands, will be taken away and handed over to foreign conquerors.
Urdu Explanation: چونکہ بگاڑ پورے نظام میں پھیل چکا ہے—ادنیٰ سے لے کر اعلیٰ ترین مذہبی عہدیدار تک سبھی لالچ میں مبتلا ہیں—اس لیے سزا بھی مکمل ہوگی۔ ان کی سب سے قیمتی اور ذاتی چیزیں، بشمول ان کی بیویاں اور ان کے آبائی کھیت، ان سے چھین کر غیر ملکی فاتحین کے حوالے کر دیے جائیں گے۔
Jeremiah 8:11
Verse: For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly saying Peace peace when there is no peace
English Explanation: The false prophets and corrupt priests offered superficial, temporary comfort to a deeply broken nation. Instead of diagnosing the deadly spiritual disease of sin and calling for repentance, they blindly reassured the people with false prophecies of peace and safety when total destruction was actually right at the door.
Urdu Explanation: جھوٹے نبیوں اور بدعنوان کاہنوں نے گناہ کے بوجھ تلے دبی ہوئی قوم کو سطحی اور عارضی تسلی دی۔ گناہ کی مہلک روحانی بیماری کا علاج کرنے اور توبہ کی دعوت دینے کی بجائے، انہوں نے لوگوں کو “سلامتی، سلامتی” کے جھوٹے دلاسے دیے، جبکہ حقیقت میں مکمل تباہی بالکل دہلیز پر کھڑی تھی۔
Jeremiah 8:12
Verse: Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination nay they were not at all ashamed neither could they blush therefore shall they fall among them that fall in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down saith the LORD
English Explanation: Sin had so completely desensitized the people that they lost the capacity to feel guilt or even blush at their disgusting behavior. Because they are completely unrepentant and shameless, they will share the exact same fate as all other fallen rebels when God arrives to execute His final judgment.
Urdu Explanation: گناہ نے لوگوں کے ضمیر کو اس حد تک سن کر دیا تھا کہ وہ اپنے گھناؤنے کاموں پر شرمندگی محسوس کرنے یا جھپپنے کی صلاحیت بھی کھو چکے تھے۔ چونکہ ان میں کوئی شرم اور توبہ کا احساس باقی نہیں رہا، اس لیے جب خدا کی عدالت کا وقت آئے گا تو وہ بھی گرنے والوں کے ساتھ گرائے جائیں گے اور نیست و نابود کر دیے جائیں گے۔
Jeremiah 8:13
Verse: I will surely consume them saith the LORD there shall be no grapes on the vine nor figs on the fig tree and the leaf shall fade and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them
English Explanation: God uses agricultural metaphors to describe absolute economic and physical devastation. Like a dried-up vine with no grapes and a barren fig tree with withered leaves, Judah will be entirely stripped of its blessings, resources, and provisions. Everything God graciously gave them will be taken away.
Urdu Explanation: خدا مکمل معاشی اور جسمانی تباہی کو بیان کرنے کے لیے زراعت کے استعارے استعمال کرتا ہے۔ انگور کی ایک ایسی بیل کی طرح جس پر کوئی انگور نہ ہو اور انجیر کے ایک ایسے درخت کی طرح جس کے پتے مرجھا چکے ہوں، یہوداہ اپنی تمام برکات اور وسائل سے محروم کر دیا جائے گا۔ جو کچھ خدا نے انہیں فضل سے دیا تھا، وہ سب ان سے چھین لیا جائے گا۔
Jeremiah 8:14
Verse: Why do we sit still assemble yourselves and let us enter into the defenced cities and let us be silent there for the LORD our God hath put us to silence and given us water of gall to drink because we have sinned against the LORD
English Explanation: The realization of judgment hits too late. The people finally recognize their desperate situation and call on one another to flee into fortified cities, expecting death. They realize that their silence is not peaceful, but the heavy silence of doom imposed by God, forced to drink the bitter poison of their own sinful consequences.
Urdu Explanation: خدا کے انصاف کا احساس لوگوں کو بہت دیر سے ہوتا ہے۔ وہ بالآخر اپنی مایوس کن حالت کو پہچانتے ہیں اور ایک دوسرے کو پکارتے ہیں کہ آؤ قلعہ بند شہروں میں بھاگ چلیں تاکہ وہاں خاموشی سے موت کا انتظار کریں۔ وہ سمجھ جاتے ہیں کہ ان کی یہ خاموشی امن کی نہیں، بلکہ خدا کی طرف سے مسلط کردہ ہلاکت کی خاموشی ہے، جہاں وہ اپنے ہی گناہوں کے انجام کا کڑوا زہر پینے پر مجبور ہیں۔
