John 4:21

Verse: Jesus saith unto her Woman believe me the hour cometh when ye shall neither in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem worship the Father

John 4:22

Verse: Ye worship ye know not what we know what we worship for salvation is of the Jews

John 4:23

Verse: But the hour cometh and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth for the Father seeketh such to worship him

  • English Explanation: The new era of worship has arrived through Jesus Christ. True worship is not defined by outward rituals, but by inward sincerity (“in spirit”) and in accordance with the ultimate reality and truth of God revealed in the Son.

  • Urdu Explanation: لیکن وہ وقت آتا ہے بلکہ اب ہی ہے کہ سچے پرستار باپ کی پرستش روح اور سچائی سے کریں گے کیونکہ باپ اپنے لیے ایسے ہی پرستار ڈھونڈتا ہے۔ اب عبادت کا معیار ظاہری رسم و رواج نہیں بلکہ دل کی سچائی اور روح کی گہرائی ہے۔

John 4:24

Verse: God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth

  • English Explanation: Because God is non-material and spiritual by nature, physical locations are irrelevant to His presence. Authentic engagement with Him requires a alignment of the human spirit with His Holy Spirit, anchored in biblical truth.

John 4:25

Verse: The woman saith unto him I know that Messias cometh which is called Christ when he is come he will tell us all things

  • English Explanation: The Samaritan woman expresses her hope in the coming Messiah (the Taheb or Restorer in Samaritan theology), believing that He will resolve all theological conflicts and bring full revelation.

  • Urdu Explanation: عورت نے اس سے کہا میں جانتی ہوں کہ مسیح جو کرسٹس کہلاتا ہے آنے والا ہے جب وہ آئے گا تو ہمیں سب باتیں بتا دے گا۔ وہ اپنی امید کا اظہار کرتی ہے کہ آنے والا منجی سب الجھنیں دور کر دے گا۔

John 4:26

Verse: Jesus saith unto her I that speak unto thee am he

  • English Explanation: Jesus directly and explicitly reveals His identity as the Messiah. This is one of the clearest public declarations of His messianic identity recorded in the Gospels, spoken to an outcast Samaritan woman.

  • Urdu Explanation: یسوع نے اس سے کہا میں جو تجھ سے بول رہا ہوں وہی ہوں۔ یسوع نے بغیر کسی پردے کے اپنے مسیح ہونے کا سب سے بڑا دعویٰ اس سامری عورت کے سامنے کیا۔

John 4:27

Verse: And upon this came his disciples and marvelled that he talked with the woman yet no man said What seekest thou or Why talkest thou with her

  • English Explanation: The disciples return and are shocked to find Jesus violating cultural taboos by speaking publicly with a Samaritan woman. Out of deep respect and awe, however, they refrain from questioning His actions.

  • Urdu Explanation: اتنے میں اس کے شاگرد آئے اور تعجب کرنے لگے کہ وہ عورت سے باتیں کر رہا تھا تو بھی کسی نے نہ کہا کہ تو کیا چاہتا ہے؟ یا اس سے کیوں باتیں کرتا ہے؟ وہ ثقافتی روایات ٹوٹنے پر حیران تھے مگر خاموش رہے۔

John 4:28

Verse: The woman then left her waterpot and went her way into the city and saith to the men

  • English Explanation: Completely transformed by the revelation, the woman leaves her water jar behind—the very reason she came to the well—signifying that her immediate material needs were eclipsed by her newfound spiritual life.

  • Urdu Explanation: پس عورت اپنا گھڑا چھوڑ کر شہر کو چلی گئی اور لوگوں سے کہنے لگی۔ گھڑا چھوڑنا اس بات کی علامت ہے کہ اب اس کی مادی ضرورت روحانی خوشی کے سامنے ہیچ ہو گئی تھی۔

John 4:29

Verse: Come see a man which told me all things that ever I did is not this the Christ

  • English Explanation: She invites her community to meet Jesus, pointing to His supernatural knowledge of her hidden past as evidence of His identity, posing an invitation for them to discover Him themselves.

  • Urdu Explanation: آؤ ایک آدمی کو دیکھو جس نے میرے سب کام مجھے بتا دیے۔ کیا یہ ممکن ہے کہ یہی مسیح ہو؟ اس نے اپنے ماضی کے انکشاف کو گواہی بنا کر پورے شہر کو دعوت دی۔

John 4:30

Verse: Then they went out of the city and came unto him

  • English Explanation: Prompted by the profound transformation and urgent testimony of the woman, the townspeople leave their homes and head toward Jacob’s well to meet Jesus.

  • Urdu Explanation: پس وہ شہر سے نکل کر اس کے پاس آنے لگے۔ عورت کی گواہی میں ایسا اثر تھا کہ لوگ خود تحقیق کرنے کے لیے چل پڑے۔

John 4:31

Verse: In the mean while his disciples prayed him saying Master eat

  • English Explanation: While the townspeople are on their way, the disciples are preoccupied with physical survival and urge Jesus to eat the food they brought back from the town.

  • Urdu Explanation: اس دوران میں شاگردوں نے اس سے عرض کی کہ اے استاد کچھ کھا لے۔ شاگرد ابھی تک مادی خوراک اور جسمانی ضرورتوں کے بارے میں سوچ رہے تھے۔

John 4:32

Verse: But he said unto them I have meat to eat that ye know not of

  • English Explanation: Jesus uses food as a metaphor for spiritual sustenance, indicating that He derives deep life, energy, and satisfaction from sources completely invisible to the disciples’ physical eyes.

  • Urdu Explanation: مگر اس نے ان سے کہا میرے پاس کھانے کے لیے ایسی خوراک ہے جسے تم نہیں جانتے۔ یسوع نے روحانی اطمینان کو اپنی حقیقی خوراک قرار دیا۔

John 4:33

Verse: Therefore said the disciples one to another Hath any man brought him ought to eat

  • English Explanation: Taking His words literally, the disciples wonder if someone else had brought Him physical food during their absence, missing the deeper spiritual lesson.

  • Urdu Explanation: پس شاگردوں نے آپس میں کہا کیا کوئی اس کے لیے کچھ کھانے کو لایا ہے؟ وہ ابھی تک اس بات کا مادی مطلب نکال رہے تھے۔

John 4:34

Verse: Jesus saith unto them My meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work

  • English Explanation: Jesus clearly defines His spiritual food: it is obedience to God the Father and the absolute completion of the redemptive mission assigned to Him.

  • Urdu Explanation: یسوع نے ان سے کہا میری خوراک یہ ہے کہ اپنے بھیجنے والے کی مرضی پوری کروں اور اس کا کام انجام دوں۔ خدا کی فرمانبرداری ہی یسوع کی حقیقی توانائی تھی۔

John 4:35

Verse: Say not ye There are yet four months and then cometh harvest behold I say unto you Lift up your eyes and look on the fields for they are white already to harvest

  • English Explanation: While regular agricultural harvests require months of waiting, Jesus points to the approaching crowd of Samaritans as a spiritual harvest that is fully ripe and ready to be gathered immediately.

  • Urdu Explanation: کیا تم نہیں کہتے کہ فصل کٹنے میں اب بھی چار مہینے باقی ہیں؟ دیکھو میں تم سے کہتا ہوں کہ اپنی آنکھیں اٹھا کر کھیتوں کو دیکھو کہ وہ کٹنے کے لیے تیار ہو چکے ہیں۔ سامری لوگ ایمان لانے کے لیے تیار کھڑے تھے۔

John 4:36

Verse: And he that reapeth receiveth wages and gathereth fruit unto life eternal that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together

  • English Explanation: Workers in God’s harvest field receive spiritual rewards and gather souls for eternity. This ecosystem ensures that both the prophets (sowers) and the disciples (reapers) share in the collective joy.

  • Urdu Explanation: اور کاٹنے والا مزدوری پاتا ہے اور دائمی زندگی کے لیے پھل جمع کرتا ہے تاکہ بونے والا اور کاٹنے والا دونوں مل کر خوشی کریں۔ خدا کے کام میں ہر خادم کا اپنا انعام ہے۔

John 4:37

Verse: And herein is that saying true One soweth and another reapeth

  • English Explanation: Jesus validates a common proverb, highlighting that ministry involves different phases; one person does the preparatory groundwork while another witnesses the harvest.

  • Urdu Explanation: کیونکہ یہاں یہ کہاوت سچی بیٹھتی ہے کہ بونے والا اور ہے اور کاٹنے والا اور۔ یعنی خدمت کے مختلف مراحل ہوتے ہیں۔

John 4:38

Verse: I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour other men laboured and ye are entered into their labours

  • English Explanation: The disciples are reaping the spiritual benefits of seeds planted by ancient prophets, John the Baptist, and Jesus Himself. They are stepping into a harvest prepared by others.

  • Urdu Explanation: میں نے تمہیں وہ فصل کاٹنے بھیجا جس پر تم نے محنت نہیں کی دوسروں نے محنت کی اور تم ان کی محنت کے پھل میں شریک ہوئے۔ شاگردوں کو تیار شدہ ایمان دار مل رہے تھے۔

John 4:39

Verse: And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman which testified He told me all that ever I did

  • English Explanation: The woman’s transparent testimony serves as the catalyst. Her community believes in Jesus because her story of His divine insight is undeniably powerful.

  • Urdu Explanation: اور اس شہر کے بہت سے سامریوں نے اس عورت کے کہنے سے جو گواہی دیتی تھی کہ اس نے میرے سب کام مجھے بتا دیے اس پر ایمان لائے۔ ایک سچی گواہی پورے شہر کی بیداری کا سبب بنی۔

John 4:40

Verse: So when the Samaritans were come unto him they besought him that he would tarry with them and he abode there two days

  • English Explanation: Breaking away from age-old ethnic hostility, the Samaritans invite a Jewish teacher into their lives, and Jesus honors their faith by staying with them for two days.

  • Urdu Explanation: پس جب وہ سامری اس کے پاس آئے تو اس سے منت کرنے لگے کہ ہمارے پاس رہ پس وہ وہاں دو دن رہا۔ دشمنی محبت اور ایمان میں بدل گئی۔

John 4:41

Verse: And many more believed because of his own word

  • English Explanation: While initial faith was sparked by the woman, personal, direct exposure to the teachings of Jesus during His stay causes an even larger number of people to believe.

  • Urdu Explanation: اور اس کے کلام کے سبب سے اور بھی بہتیرے ایمان لائے۔ اب ان کا ایمان سنی سنائی بات پر نہیں بلکہ ذاتی تجربے پر تھا۔

John 4:42

Verse: And said unto the woman Now we believe not because of thy saying for we have heard him ourselves and know that this is indeed the Christ the Saviour of the world

  • English Explanation: The Samaritans declare that their faith is now mature and firsthand. They acknowledge Jesus not simply as a Jewish prophet, but as the Savior of the entire world, expanding beyond nationalist definitions.

  • Urdu Explanation: اور اس عورت سے کہا کہ اب ہم تیرے کہنے ہی سے ایمان نہیں لاتے کیونکہ ہم نے خود سن لیا اور جانتے ہیں کہ یہ سچ مچ دنیا کا منجی ہے۔ ان کا ایمان اب کامل ہو چکا تھا۔

John 4:43

Verse: Now after two days he departed thence and went into Galilee

  • English Explanation: Following His brief but highly successful ministry among the Samaritans, Jesus resumes His planned journey toward His home region of Galilee.

  • Urdu Explanation: اور ان دو دنوں کے بعد وہ وہاں سے روانہ ہو کر گلیل کو چلا گیا۔ سامریہ کا مشن مکمل کرنے کے بعد وہ اپنی منزل کی طرف بڑھے۔

John 4:44

Verse: For Jesus himself testified that a prophet hath no honour in his own country

  • English Explanation: Jesus notes a persistent reality of human nature: people often fail to respect or recognize the divine value of someone they have grown up with or view as familiar.

  • Urdu Explanation: کیونکہ یسوع نے خود گواہی دی کہ نبی اپنے وطن میں عزت نہیں پاتا۔ لوگ اکثر جانی پہچانی ہستیوں کی قدر نہیں کرتے۔

John 4:45

Verse: Then when he was come into Galilee the Galilaeans received him having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast for they also went unto the feast

  • English Explanation: The Galileans welcome Him, but their reception is superficial, based primarily on the miracles and spectacles they witnessed Him perform earlier in Jerusalem during the Passover feast.

  • Urdu Explanation: پس جب وہ گلیل میں آیا تو گلیلیوں نے اسے قبول کیا کیونکہ انہوں نے وہ سب کام دیکھے تھے جو اس نے یروشلم میں عید کے وقت کیے تھے کیونکہ وہ بھی عید میں گئے تھے۔ ان کی قبولیت معجزات کی بنیاد پر تھی۔

John 4:46

Verse: So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee where he made the water wine And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum

  • English Explanation: Jesus returns to Cana, the site of His first miracle. Here, a royal official from Capernaum approaches Him out of desperation, searching for healing for his dying son.

  • Urdu Explanation: پس وہ پھر گلیل کے قانا میں آیا جہاں اس نے پانی کو مے بنایا تھا اور وہاں ایک شاہی عہدہ دار تھا جس کا بیٹا کفرنحوم میں بیمار تھا۔ یہ ایک اور معجزے کا آغاز تھا۔

John 4:47

Verse: When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee he went unto him and besought him that he would come down and heal his son for he was at the point of death

  • English Explanation: Hearing of Jesus’ arrival, the desperate father travels to intercept Him, begging Jesus to physically travel to Capernaum before death claims his child.

  • Urdu Explanation: جب اس نے سنا کہ یسوع یہودیہ سے گلیل میں آ گیا ہے تو اس کے پاس گیا اور منت کرنے لگا کہ چل کر میرے بیٹے کو شفا دے کیونکہ وہ مرنے پر تھا۔ باپ کی مامتا اسے کھینچ لائی۔

John 4:48

Verse: Then said Jesus unto him Except ye see signs and wonders ye will not believe

  • English Explanation: Jesus addresses the crowd’s flawed mindset through the nobleman, pointing out that their faith is dangerously dependent on witnessing continuous supernatural demonstrations rather than trusting His word.

  • Urdu Explanation: یسوع نے اس سے کہا جب تک تم نشانیاں اور عجیب کام نہ دیکھو گے ہرگز ایمان نہ لاؤ گے۔ یسوع ظاہری معجزوں پر منحصر ایمان کی اصلاح کرنا چاہتے تھے۔

John 4:49

Verse: The nobleman saith unto him Sir come down ere my child die

  • English Explanation: Ignoring any theological discussion, the father begs out of sheer urgency, assuming Jesus must be physically present beside the boy to perform the healing.

  • Urdu Explanation: اس شاہی عہدہ دار نے اس سے کہا اے صاحب میرے بچے کے مرنے سے پہلے چل۔ اس کی توجہ صرف اپنے بچے کی زندگی بچانے پر تھی۔

John 4:50

Verse: Jesus saith unto him Go thy way thy son liveth And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him and he went his way

  • English Explanation: Jesus demonstrates His supreme authority over distance by issuing a verbal command. The official undergoes a massive shift in faith, trusting the spoken word of Jesus completely without requiring a sign, and starts his journey home.

  • Urdu Explanation: یسوع نے اس سے کہا جا تیرا بیٹا جیتا ہے اس آدمی نے اس بات کا یقین کیا جو یسوع نے اس سے کہی تھی اور چلا گیا۔ یہاں بغیر دیکھے ایمان لانے کا شاندار نمونہ نظر آتا ہے۔

John 4:51

Verse: And as he was now going down his servants met him and told him saying Thy son liveth

  • English Explanation: While traveling back home, the official is intercepted by his household servants, who meet him with the joyful confirmation that matches Jesus’ exact statement.

  • Urdu Explanation: وہ جا ہی رہا تھا کہ اس کے نوکروں نے اس سے مل کر کہا کہ تیرا لڑکا جیتا ہے۔ خوشخبری نے اس کے ایمان کی تصدیق کر دی۔

John 4:52

Verse: Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend And they said unto him Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him

  • English Explanation: The father investigates the exact timing of the recovery, discovering that the fever vanished entirely at the precise moment Jesus had spoken the words of healing the day before.

  • Urdu Explanation: پس اس نے ان سے وہ گھڑی پوچھی جس میں وہ اچھا ہونے لگا انہوں نے اس سے کہا کہ کل ساتویں گھڑی اس کا بخار اترا۔ وقت کا ملاپ معجزے کی سچائی کو ثابت کرتا ہے۔

John 4:53

Verse: So the father knew that it was at the same hour in the which Jesus said unto him Thy son liveth and himself believed and his whole house

John 4:54

Verse: This is again the second miracle that Jesus did when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee

John 5:1

Verse: After this there was a feast of the Jews and Jesus went up to Jerusalem

John 5:2

Verse: Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda having five porches
