Judges 6:31

Verse: And Joash said unto all that stood against him Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning if he be a god let him plead for himself because one hath cast down his altar

  • English Detail: Joash, Gideon’s father, uses logic to defend his son. He argues that if Baal were truly a god, he wouldn’t need humans to defend his honor; he could strike down Gideon himself.

  • Urdu Detail: یوآس نے ان سب سے جو اس کے خلاف کھڑے تھے کہا کہ کیا تم بعل کے لیے جھگڑا کرو گے؟ کیا تم اسے بچاؤ گے؟ جو کوئی اس کے لیے جھگڑے گا وہ صبح ہوتے ہی مار ڈالا جائے گا۔ اگر وہ خدا ہے تو وہ اپنے لیے خود جھگڑا کرے کیونکہ کسی نے اس کا مذبح گرا دیا ہے۔

Judges 6:32

Verse: Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal saying Let Baal plead against him because he hath thrown down his altar

  • English Detail: Gideon receives the name “Jerubbaal,” which means “Let Baal contend.” This name served as a constant reminder of Baal’s powerlessness against Gideon.

  • Urdu Detail: اس لیے اس دن اس نے اس کا نام یروبعل رکھا اور کہا کہ بعل اس سے خود ہی نمٹ لے کیونکہ اس نے اس کا مذبح گرا دیا ہے۔

Judges 6:33

Verse: Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together and went over and pitched in the valley of Jezreel

  • English Detail: The enemy forces unite to invade Israel, gathering in the strategic Valley of Jezreel. This sets the stage for a massive military confrontation.

  • Urdu Detail: تب تمام مڈیانی اور عمالیقی اور اہل مشرق ایک ساتھ جمع ہو گئے اور پار جا کر یزرعیل کی وادی میں ڈیرے ڈال دیے۔

Judges 6:34

Verse: But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon and he blew a trumpet and Abiezer was gathered after him

  • English Detail: Divine empowerment occurs here. The Holy Spirit “clothed” Gideon, giving him the leadership and courage to call the clans of Abiezer to war.

  • Urdu Detail: لیکن خداوند کی روح جدعون پر نازل ہوئی اور اس نے نرسنگا پھونکا اور ابیعزر اس کے پیچھے جمع ہو گئے۔

Judges 6:35

Verse: And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh who also was gathered after him and he sent messengers unto Asher and unto Zebulun and unto Naphtali and they came up to meet them

  • English Detail: Gideon’s call for help expands to the neighboring tribes of Manasseh, Asher, Zebulun, and Naphtali, showing growing unity among the Israelites.

  • Urdu Detail: اور اس نے تمام منسی میں قاصد بھیجے جو اس کے پیچھے جمع ہو گئے اور اس نے آشر اور زبولون اور نفتالی میں بھی قاصد بھیجے اور وہ ان سے ملنے کو آئے۔

Judges 6:36

Verse: And Gideon said unto God If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand as thou hast said

  • English Detail: Despite the Spirit’s presence, Gideon seeks further reassurance. He wants absolute certainty that God will use him to deliver Israel.

  • Urdu Detail: اور جدعون نے خدا سے کہا کہ اگر تو اپنے کہے کے مطابق میرے ہاتھ سے اسرائیل کو بچائے گا۔

Judges 6:37

Verse: Behold I will put a fleece of wool in the floor and if the dew be on the fleece only and it be dry upon all the earth beside then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand as thou hast said

  • English Detail: Gideon proposes a specific supernatural test using a wool fleece to confirm God’s promise.

  • Urdu Detail: تو دیکھ میں اون کا ایک گچھا کھلیان میں رکھتا ہوں اگر صرف اون پر شبنم ہو اور تمام زمین خشک رہے تو میں جان لوں گا کہ تو میرے ہاتھ سے اسرائیل کو بچائے گا۔

Judges 6:38

Verse: And it was so for he rose up early on the morrow and thrust the fleece together and wringed the dew out of the fleece a bowl full of water

  • English Detail: God answers the first sign. The fleece is so soaked with dew that Gideon wrings out an entire bowl of water while the ground is dry.

  • Urdu Detail: اور ایسا ہی ہوا کیونکہ اس نے دوسرے دن سویرے اٹھ کر اون کو نچوڑا اور اس میں سے ایک پیالہ بھر پانی نکلا۔

Judges 6:39

Verse: And Gideon said unto God Let not thine anger be hot against me and I will speak but this once let me prove I pray thee but this once with the fleece let it now be dry only upon the fleece and upon all the ground let there be dew

  • English Detail: Gideon asks for a second, reverse sign to ensure it wasn’t a natural phenomenon. He approaches God with humility and fear of being too demanding.

  • Urdu Detail: اور جدعون نے خدا سے کہا کہ تیرا غصہ مجھ پر نہ بھڑکے اور میں ایک بار پھر کہوں گا کہ مجھے اون کے ساتھ ایک بار اور آزمانے دے کہ اب صرف اون خشک رہے اور تمام زمین پر شبنم ہو۔

Judges 6:40

Verse: And God did so that night for it was dry upon the fleece only and there was dew on all the ground

  • English Detail: God graciously confirms His calling by performing the second miracle, proving His patience and commitment to Gideon.

  • Urdu Detail: اور خدا نے اس رات ایسا ہی کیا کہ صرف اون خشک رہی اور تمام زمین پر شبنم تھی۔

Judges 7:1

Verse: Then Jerubbaal who is Gideon and all the people that were with him rose up early and pitched beside the well of Harod so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them by the hill of Moreh in the valley

  • English Detail: The armies are positioned. Gideon’s forces camp at the Well of Harod, while the massive Midianite army is stationed nearby in the valley.

  • Urdu Detail: تب یروبعل یعنی جدعون اور وہ سب لوگ جو اس کے ساتھ تھے صبح سویرے اٹھے اور حارود کے چشمے کے پاس ڈیرے ڈالے اور مڈیانیوں کا لشکر ان کے شمال کی طرف مورا کی پہاڑی کے پاس وادی میں تھا۔

Judges 7:2

Verse: And the LORD said unto Gideon The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands lest Israel vaunt themselves against me saying Mine own hand hath saved me

  • English Detail: God explains that Israel has too many soldiers. He wants the victory to be clearly attributed to Divine power, not human military strength.

  • Urdu Detail: اور خداوند نے جدعون سے کہا کہ جو لوگ تیرے ساتھ ہیں وہ میرے لیے بہت زیادہ ہیں کہ میں مڈیانیوں کو ان کے ہاتھ میں کر دوں ایسا نہ ہو کہ اسرائیل میرے خلاف فخر کرے کہ میرے ہی ہاتھ نے مجھے بچایا ہے۔

Judges 7:3

Verse: Now therefore go to proclaim in the ears of the people saying Whosoever is fearful and afraid let him return and depart early from mount Gilead And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand and there remained ten thousand

  • English Detail: Gideon offers a “fear clause” based on Mosaic Law. 22,000 men leave, leaving only 10,000 to face a massive army.

  • Urdu Detail: پس اب تو لوگوں میں منادی کر کے کہہ کہ جو کوئی ڈرتا اور لرزتا ہے وہ جلعاد کے پہاڑ سے واپس چلا جائے چنانچہ بائیس ہزار آدمی واپس چلے گئے اور دس ہزار باقی رہ گئے۔

Judges 7:4

Verse: And the LORD said unto Gideon The people are yet too many bring them down unto the water and I will try them for thee there and it shall be that of whom I say unto thee This shall go with thee the same shall go with thee and of whomsoever I say unto thee This shall not go with thee the same shall not go

  • English Detail: 10,000 is still too many in God’s eyes. He proposes a second test at the water to further filter the army.

  • Urdu Detail: اور خداوند نے جدعون سے کہا کہ لوگ اب بھی بہت زیادہ ہیں انہیں پانی کے پاس نیچے لے جا اور میں وہاں انہیں تیرے لیے آزماؤں گا۔

Judges 7:5

Verse: So he brought down the people unto the water and the LORD said unto Gideon Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue as a dog lappeth him shalt thou set by himself likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink

  • English Detail: The soldiers are divided into two groups based on how they drink: those who lap like dogs and those who kneel.

  • Urdu Detail: پس وہ لوگوں کو پانی کے پاس نیچے لے گیا اور خداوند نے جدعون سے کہا کہ جو کوئی کتے کی طرح اپنی زبان سے پانی چاٹے اسے الگ کر دے اور اسی طرح اسے بھی جو گھٹنوں کے بل جھک کر پانی پیے۔

Judges 7:6

Verse: And the number of them that lapped putting their hand to their mouth were three hundred men but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water

  • English Detail: Only 300 men remained alert by bringing water to their mouths with their hands, while the vast majority let down their guard.

  • Urdu Detail: اور ان کی تعداد جنہوں نے ہاتھ سے منہ تک پانی لے کر چاٹا تین سو تھی لیکن باقی سب لوگ گھٹنوں کے بل جھک کر پانی پینے لگے۔

Judges 7:7

Verse: And the LORD said unto Gideon By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you and deliver the Midianites into thine hand and let all the other people go every man unto his place

  • English Detail: God selects the smallest possible group (300) to ensure the victory is miraculous and undeniable.

  • Urdu Detail: اور خداوند نے جدعون سے کہا کہ ان ہی تین سو آدمیوں کے ذریعے جنہوں نے پانی چاٹا میں تمہیں بچاؤں گا اور مڈیانیوں کو تیرے ہاتھ میں کر دوں گا۔

Judges 7:8

Verse: So the people took victuals in their hand and their trumpets and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent and retained those three hundred men and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley

  • English Detail: The 300 men take the supplies and trumpets of the departing army. They stand ready while the enemy waits in the valley below.

  • Urdu Detail: پس ان لوگوں نے زادِ راہ اور نرسنگے اپنے ہاتھ میں لیے اور اس نے باقی تمام اسرائیلیوں کو ان کے خیموں میں بھیج دیا لیکن ان تین سو آدمیوں کو رکھ لیا۔

Judges 7:9

Verse: And it came to pass the same night that the LORD said unto him Arise get thee down unto the host for I have delivered it into thine hand

  • English Detail: God commands Gideon to attack that very night, giving him the spiritual assurance of victory.

  • Urdu Detail: اور اسی رات ایسا ہوا کہ خداوند نے اس سے کہا کہ اٹھ اور لشکر پر حملہ کر کیونکہ میں نے اسے تیرے ہاتھ میں کر دیا ہے۔

Judges 7:10

Verse: But if thou fear to go down go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host

  • English Detail: Understanding Gideon’s lingering human fear, God provides an option for him to gather intelligence with his servant first.

  • Urdu Detail: لیکن اگر تو نیچے جانے سے ڈرتا ہے تو اپنے خادم فورہ کے ساتھ لشکر کی طرف جا۔

Judges 7:11

Verse: And thou shalt hear what they say and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host

  • English Detail: God encourages Gideon to eavesdrop on the enemy camp to gain confidence. Gideon obeys and approaches the enemy lines.

  • Urdu Detail: اور تو سنے گا کہ وہ کیا کہتے ہیں اور اس کے بعد تیرے ہاتھ لشکر پر حملہ کرنے کے لیے مضبوط ہو جائیں گے تب وہ اپنے خادم فورہ کے ساتھ مسلح آدمیوں کے باہر تک گیا جو لشکر میں تھے۔
