English Explanation
Revelation 14:7 contains a powerful message proclaimed by an angel in the midst of heaven. The message is directed toward every nation, kindred, tongue, and people and calls humanity to return to the proper relationship with God. The verse emphasizes four closely connected responses: fear God, give glory to God, recognize His judgment, and worship the Creator.
1. “Fear God”
The command “Fear God” does not primarily mean being terrified of God in the sense of wanting to run away from Him. Biblical fear of God includes reverence, awe, respect, obedience, and recognition of His holiness and authority.
Human beings can easily become absorbed in worldly concerns, personal ambitions, possessions, power, and human approval. Revelation reminds us that God deserves the highest place in our lives.
To fear God means recognizing that He is the Creator and that our lives ultimately belong to Him. It means taking His Word seriously and choosing obedience rather than treating spiritual matters casually.
True fear of God also produces wisdom and humility. A person who understands God’s greatness does not place himself at the center of everything. Instead, he acknowledges that God is greater than human power, political authority, wealth, and earthly circumstances.
2. “Give Glory to Him”
The angel continues, “and give glory to him.”
Giving glory to God means acknowledging His greatness, holiness, goodness, righteousness, and authority. God does not need human beings to make Him glorious; He already possesses glory. Rather, we are commanded to recognize and declare the glory that belongs to Him.
A life that gives glory to God seeks to honor Him in worship, speech, decisions, relationships, and conduct.
This command is especially important in Revelation because humanity is surrounded by competing objects of worship. Revelation repeatedly contrasts worship of God with false worship and allegiance to worldly powers. Revelation 14:7 therefore calls people back to the Creator before judgment reaches its appointed hour.
Giving glory to God also means refusing to take ultimate credit for what God has given us. Our abilities, opportunities, life, and blessings should lead us toward gratitude rather than pride.
3. “For the Hour of His Judgment Is Come”
The reason for this urgent command is stated clearly:
“for the hour of his judgment is come.”
The word “hour” communicates a sense of an appointed and decisive time. God’s judgment is not presented as an accidental event. It belongs to His righteous authority and unfolds according to His purposes.
The announcement should therefore be understood as both a warning and a call to repentance.
God’s judgment demonstrates that human choices matter. Evil does not have the final word. Injustice, rebellion, oppression, deception, and wickedness are not ignored forever. Revelation presents God as the righteous Judge who will ultimately deal with evil.
At the same time, this announcement of judgment gives people an opportunity to respond. The angel does not merely announce destruction; the message calls people to fear God, give Him glory, and worship Him.
This makes the verse spiritually significant for believers today. It encourages us to examine where our loyalty is placed and whether our lives genuinely honor God.
4. “Worship Him That Made Heaven and Earth”
The angel then identifies the One who deserves worship:
“Worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”
God is worthy of worship because He is the Creator.
The reference to heaven, earth, sea, and fountains of waters emphasizes the comprehensive scope of God’s creative authority. Everything ultimately belongs to Him because everything originates from Him.
This statement also challenges idolatry. Human beings may create images, institutions, philosophies, systems, and objects of devotion, but none of these can replace the Creator.
The proper direction of worship is toward the One who made all things.
The verse therefore moves from fear to glory to judgment to worship. These ideas belong together. When people understand who God is, they recognize His authority; when they recognize His authority, they give Him glory; when they understand His judgment, they take His commands seriously; and when they recognize Him as Creator, they worship Him.
5. A Message for Every Generation
Revelation 14:7 has a universal character. The surrounding passage presents the angel proclaiming the everlasting gospel to those who dwell on the earth. The message is not limited to one nation or one ethnic group.
Its central lesson is timeless: God deserves reverence, glory, and worship because He is the Creator and righteous Judge.
For Christians, this verse is also a reminder that faith should not be reduced to words alone. Genuine devotion to God affects how we live. We should seek to honor Him with our choices, relationships, work, speech, and treatment of others.
The verse also encourages believers not to become spiritually distracted by the temporary powers of this world. Earthly kingdoms rise and fall, but God’s authority remains.
“and give glory to him” — “اور اسے جلال دو۔”
“for the hour of his judgment is come” — “کیونکہ اس کی عدالت کی گھڑی آ پہنچی ہے۔”
“Worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”
