“Beloved” — A Word of Love and Encouragement
John begins with the word “Beloved.” This is significant because the verse deals with something deeply personal: the condition of the human heart.
The Christian message is not presented merely as a list of rules. John speaks to believers as people who are loved. Even when discussing conscience, obedience, and spiritual confidence, he begins with encouragement.
