Genesis 7:18 describes a powerful moment during the great Flood in the time of Noah. This verse explains how the waters continued to rise and cover the earth while the ark built by Noah moved safely upon the surface of the waters. The phrase “the waters prevailed” shows that the floodwaters had become extremely powerful and widespread. The rising waters were beyond human control, demonstrating that nature was responding to God’s command. The Flood was not presented as a random disaster but as an event connected with God’s decision to judge the corruption and violence that had filled the earth.

The words “were increased greatly upon the earth” emphasize the extent and intensity of the Flood. The waters did not rise only slightly; they continued increasing until the earth was covered. This highlights the seriousness of the situation and the helplessness of humanity without God’s protection.

The second part of the verse says, “the ark went upon the face of the waters.” The ark represents God’s provision and salvation for Noah, his family, and the living creatures preserved inside it. یہ آیت ہمیں سکھاتی ہے کہ خدا پر بھروسہ اور اس کے احکامات کی پیروی انسان کو مشکلات کے دوران مضبوط رکھ سکتی ہے۔ زندگی میں کبھی ایسے حالات آ سکتے ہیں جب مشکلات پانی کی طرح بڑھتی ہوئی محسوس ہوں، لیکن خدا پر ایمان رکھنے والا شخص امید اور حوصلے کے ساتھ آگے بڑھ سکتا ہے۔

حضرت نوح کی مثال فرمانبرداری اور صبر کی مثال ہے۔ انہوں نے طویل عرصے تک خدا کے حکم پر عمل کیا، حالانکہ حالات آسان نہیں تھے۔ کشتی کا پانی پر تیرنا اس بات کی علامت ہے کہ خدا اپنے بندوں کو مشکل وقت میں بھی سنبھال سکتا ہے۔
